Ministry's early synth pop was really well written and produced music. Seeing the Land of Rape and Honey show in 1988 was a life changing experience. Ogre was also a guest performer.
I thought just about the same...Where The Fck that went? When the shit was cool, just the fact was more important than anything else and you didn't need anything else.
I was at the 2-3-90 show at the Ventura Theatre in Ventura, CA. KMFDM was the opening band. It was a truly chaotic atmosphere, and is still one of my favorite concert memories.
This trio (Uncle Al Jourgensen, Nivek Ogre & Martin Atkins) needs to comeback in the new year! Maybe, they can do the ultimate farewell supergroup tour- call it the KarmaDharmaDamneggedon Tour.
Kendall wouldn't someone's manbitch if it weren't fer MTV. Yet, dave how many labels have you run? How many legendary bands were you a participant? He, Dave? I mean, having a one hour time slot once a week on 1st wave sirius XM really doesn't hold credence to Martin Atkins career. A pretty decent guy to have a chat with as well.
Yr correct in the sound alike - it was sorta like David Gahan really really po'd and couldn't do anything about it. Yr welcome to my CD copy of With Sympathy if you like.

Chris Connelly getting it! Hell yes! Also, am I the only one who thought Al looked a bit like Nivek in that video for Revenge? Speaking of which, I don't know why everyone shits on that album or that era even (1981-1984). Sure, it sounds weak in comparison to even the Twitch album (which was a real banger btw) but I don't think personally it was all that bad. They were a way different band signed to a big label. Arista probably instructed them on how to sound to make the label money. When Ministry went to Sire tho, the gloves came off and it's been balls to the wall ever since. I'm more put off by Al deciding to cover Dylan's Lay Lady Lay (all around I can't stand that song) than their synth heavy era (With Sympathy & those amazing Wax Trax! singles).
I saw Ministry on the Land of Rape and Honey tour, as well as the Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste tour. I really couldn't get into them after "Mind", and I think Ministry started to really suck after the early '90s. Sad, as they were kicking ass in 1990 and I was a huge fan...
Best thrash punk band ever (Ministry last '80s/early '90s era). In my opinion, the first 2 album are horrendous, otherwise the albums from "rape and honey" to "psalm 69" that are stunning awesome instead, never repeat later, except to "rio grande blood" album and some single tracks subsequently (sorry for my english).
I went and saw Ministry over the weekend, and was saddened by how crappy the show was. Paid 45 for a 13 song setlist. Al has really gone downhill. It’s even more tragic considering his vast catalog he has at his disposal.
Jason Wilson pussyassbitch!! thanks for the delay in responding to the sacred heart Church of the time to get the same as the one that I can get a chance to get the same as the one that I can get
@@solinvictus39 I actually saw them the other night, opening for Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. They're doing a greatest hits set these days that sounds basically like playing all those late 80s / early 90s tracks on the world's loudest stereo. It's fine, it's good. I wish they would slip in just one weird curveball -- like even those Big 3 albums all have odd tracks on them, and I'd love to have heard one of those. But it's just sort of a "here are our songs that people remember," followed by a kind of sheepish performance of their completely forgettable new single from some crappy album I guess they're releasing soon.
The drugs make him to do the shit he still doing! Al die after the twitch album for all the new wavers and synthpop lovers is a shame he didn't continue to do good music!!!
But you're right in a sense. He's like the Keith Richards of the industrial scene. I ran into him very briefly when I lived in Chicago. Really nice guy!

I love all eras
Skinny Puppy was my favorite band for a very, very long time in my teenage/early 20’s. I still have a few of their albums on cassette.
God, I miss this era of MTV...
Yeah! Look at this host. Today it seems skinny plastic people that came from some Prada store.
With sympathy is one of ministry's best albums.
80s era ministry is my favorite I cant get enough of it. The sound they had and front 242 as well was damn near perfect.
1:06 What's that cap that Ogre is weating, the green one?
Nivek Ogre flat brimmin' back in 1990
Good catch... I didn't realize that was him...
He was high af too.
I miss cool. Remember when shit was cool?
Damn so true... where you see cool like this??
vaguely
I thought just about the same...Where The Fck that went? When the shit was cool, just the fact was more important than anything else and you didn't need anything else.
It's long gone, Al Jourgensen was one of the few who had sleeves of tattoos.
Yes. 2019=not that cool.
I like how the one guy having NOTHING to do with the interview is the coolest dude sitting there #OGRE
you should watch Ogre and Martin together in Pigface..you're missing out if you haven't
He played live with them at the time
That was Nivek? Man, I thought it was Alannah Currie from The Thompson Twins!
I was at the 2-3-90 show at the Ventura Theatre in Ventura, CA. KMFDM was the opening band. It was a truly chaotic atmosphere, and is still one of my favorite concert memories.

Ministry in the early 90s was something extremely special.
There obviously is pro-shot footage from that The Mind show at The Ritz - someone should release an alternative "In Case..", preferably on blu-ray
2:42 Ogre says F-this, I'm bored. Time for a smoke.
I can't believe Ministry started as a New Wave band. They sounded like Depeach Mode and the Thompson Twins,Oh my!
Much of Psalm is STILL my FAVORITE music from back when.

love to see all the archive of mtv of these years.
They should launch some kind of MTV Vintage channel. It would be awesome and probably would have good audience.
@@rodrigorocha7282 yes! Why not? MTV likes making money, they should do it!🤔👍
That one time MTV was super awesome. Also, With Sympathy is a great album as well as the previous Wax Trax singles. Just my two cents.

Thanks for posting this.
Ahh when MTV was a music channel.
Febrary 1990. You are welcome.
Martin some of the best drumming on flowers of romance

That last housewife remark- ouch. Uncalled for. I thought he'd just make a Beetlejuice joke at least.
Had no clue the Uncle Al moniker existed that far back.
But do you know what? That first album is actually good! And the second, Twitch. I like them both.
Whats going on with Martin Atkins hair. He`s looking like Hey Arnold
Arnold's design had to come from somewhere
Fucking hell man that was great; thanks for uploading

I would of killed to be at that show

wonder if martin atkins was inspired by alex h
awesome interview. anyone know the year?
Beginning of 1990 I'd say because the host mentioned it was a few weeks into the new decade.

I'm gonna presume early 1990 since Dave Kendall pointed it out when he said "the beginning of this decade".
