  • In this video I practice sketching a few different face types. This is an extremely important exercise when drawing comics and fun to do! I just try to create a good variety in the characters from one to the next. Let me know what you think and also comment below if you have any ideas to help other artists with their improvements!

This video gives me the nudge to try different angled heads and to keep trying. Good inspiration as always.

Would love to see more videos like this in the future, just pure character sketching, really helps to see your process in creating characters, keep up the good work.

I’ve been watching your stuff for a long time, also purchased a few things, and I’ve gotta say that you’re amazing at drawing faces and muscles. You’re great at everything but those 2 things you knock out the park every time.

I have a few books of Andrew Loomis, but I don't really follow his drawing techniques; however, I really love his methods on design, tone, and composition!

Good video. I got your book. Very nice. I have a male mannequin head that I planned to use for sculpting prosthetics for Halloween. Think I will use that for a live model scenario.

Really great stuff Robert, but I have a question.. How do you motivate yourself to just do exercise after exercise? Sometimes (a lot actually) I look at my Wacom and I think.. Hmm.. maybe just one more UA-cam video..

I have this same problem, too. I always think "one more video and then I'll start..." or "one more reference photo on Pinterest and then I'll draw..."

i know im 3 yrs late, but i draw my own comics and sell them at local stores (they're not great, im still developing my style at 14, but i always want to make something better that someone will see and say "wow! this kid's great!" Thats my motivation...

Very helpful i have been Studying the Andrew Loomis Method. Love the channel, it has helped me improve. I also have bought the Andrew Loomis Figure book. Is it a good one to learn from as well.?

How you draw Andrew is how I've always wanted to draw since I had picked up my very first comic. I used to idolize Jim Lee, but the more I look at his work, meaning current work, his style is becoming slightly more manga'ish and I dnt like that. I'm all about comic art, true comic art. I just think that wut manga, they tend to go even more extreme than marvel or DC style. That's just my opinion though.

Thank you very much. All of our favorite artists change over the years. There are some that I used to really enjoy their work and it shifted to something a little less desirable and there are some that I didn't think could draw really well and they became amazing. Just depends upon what their goals are I suppose. As well as what is popular in the current market of course. Appreciate the comment and for watching this channel! :)
