I guess over all there might be less dense traffic than in Cali but a reason is also that people have better lane disciplin -> more effecient use of the availabe lanes -> less lanes needed.

The audio setup was fantastic! I got to this video because I'm in the market for a new car and I'm considering an e92. Great value and great performance.
OMG! Mace and I just saw this today for the first time! What a great idea you had! I loved seeing our old house and the village. I was rooting for you the entire video that you would find a clear stretch of road to get to 170! Thanks for posting! Wendy (Mace's better half)
I sold the M3, but just bought a 2007 Porsche 911 and was thinking about remaking this video again with the new car. Ill let you know in April or May when the new video is up if I decide to do it. :)

@@Rat3dM Imagine that you were passing him , but instead of going slowly , u will just go in 1st gear and rev to redline . It would've been beautiful .
Nice and safe run. These cars were build for high speed and there is nothing to complain if you know your car. The only thing to complain is when drivers didn't check the mirrors or just dont get back to the right lane.
I loved my SMG transmission, but what people may be referring to is the potential issues they have. They are known to have hydraulic pump failure (a several thousand dollar repair). This is just one of the known issues with the E46. Two others that you may hear about are subframe cracks and Vanos tabs breaking. The subframe issue can be remedied by pulling the rear subframe out of the car and welding the frame in the common crack points to ensure that yours doesn't crack if it hasn't already. The Vanos tab issue I believe has been addressed with aftermarket vanos gears but I could be wrong. Lastly, the SMG pump failure is just kind of hit or miss, but I don't believe the issue is as common as many make it out to be. The newer E9x series has none of these issues, but they have a few fairly expensive issues of their own that are well documented and could be potentially worrisome. The rod bearing issue is way overblown in my opinion, but is nonetheless something to worry about. You can replace your rod bearings for a couple grand, or wait for failure (which there is likely a 99% chance it will never happen) and risk needing a new motor to the tune of $20k. Throttle actuators are a common failure point on the S65 as well, and they are about $900 each (there are two) just for parts. Either way you go, both are great cars and have their common problems. All things equal, I would take the E9x. While the E46 M3 inline 6 is a mechanical masterpiece, the S65 is one of a kind and is truly a work of art. S65 doesn't require valve adjustments while the S54 does (something to think about). S65 can make massive amounts of power for relatively cheap (ESS SC kits pop up for sale used with low miles all the time for a fraction of what they cost new). The S54's 333bhp is pretty unimpressive when compared to a stock E9x, and once you add a supercharger to the E9x the E46 doesn't even compare on any planet anymore.
A lot of people reinfornce the subframe before it cracks, so it's a good idea to do so if that's the car you choose. Regarding DCT/SMG vs manual and E9x vs E46, again it's a matter of preference. I would personally choose E9x DCT, but I am biased.
Yes>< speedlimit of 3 lane highway is 80km/h or 100km/h... But speedlimit of Urban Expressway is 60 km/h...>< so speedlimit is ignored by everybody ,but someone driving 60-80km/h in fastest lane... so we cant pass this car ;o;
I knew it has something to do with outside microphone, because that sound of the door shut in the beginning sounded worse than on a 1990 Ford Fiesta. :D
Graham Wallace trui, especially when he was going through that construction zone. I work on the public roads repairing and rebuilding the barriers and here in holland about 50 people die each year because of people that cant slow the fuck down in these zones. Its absolutely crazy...
+TheAceHD I'm sure it is, great car, great platform, great looking car all around. I just don't have any plans for the track and I preferred driving the c63 everyday. After all its my only car
+TheAceHD oh I see, yea it just seemed like I had to wind out the engine to get all the power. It didn't have that instantaneous power like the c63. I don't know if I'm describing it right but it just seemed like I had to work harder for the power and the c63 was just power anytime. Not bashing the m3 at all. I really loved it. Just personal preference honestly
C63 is a solid choice. I considered one before I got my E90, but the lack of manual transmission or proper dual clutch transmission killed it for me. Great cars regardless. The torque on those is insane
Man you guys have it good in Europe... In Canada no-one has any knowledge of what you are taking about and no-one makes any attempt to do it. I'm serious, it's so bad that traffic always moves at the same speed all the time, it's a universal constant here. If you are on a one lane road good luck getting someone to move faster, if you are on a two lane road it's the exact same thing, maybe one person will move over but that's it. People drive just as slow in the passing lane as they do in the slow lane if not slower. If you are on a 3 lane highway well you may have some wiggle room but chances are if you're not on a backroad/side road you might as well just forget it altogether.
It's a matter of preference really. Both are great in their own ways. DCT is my preference, and I am a guy who hates automatics (grew up on 3 pedals). I originally wanted a 6MT M3 after owning an SMG E46 for a year, but it only took 10 mins behind the wheel of a DCT to sway me in that direction. If you like the experience of being "connected" to the car and being in full control, go manual. If you want fast shift times and the feel of the Ferrari F1 (or similar transmission) go with the DCT. Either way you can't go wrong.
I've been like holy cow! it's too loud from the inside, I've been excited till u mentioned that it's a microphone outside haha but amazing movie after all!
SHIEEEEEIEIEIEIEIEIEEEET, the Video represents how friggin bumpy some roads are, specially around Nurmeberg there are some shaky spots. I say: "When you can drive trough and you car is at the other end in one piece, you can easily go driving Rallye with it". Once i drove a RS3 with the 280km/h package to the 280km/h, dang, i know the road very good but at some times i tought: "Shit, why is it so Bumpy?!". I slowed then down and drove the rest with moderate 160 to "cool" off and then i got myself a rest from the "Hypercruise" after the engine has cooled down enough (let it roll to the parking spot with low load and low boost). I drove before only 220, 280km/h was a completely new "limit". As a experienced German Autobahn user i normally prefer for Hypercruise-drives 3 lane Autobahns, at Tuesday/Wednesday, 11AM-1PM. Then the "Bahn" is relatively empty (most part of the people are working), with 3 lanes the danger to encounter such "Hell, there comes a Car with 250km/h, i must NOW get past the 80km/h fast Truck with 90!" drivers is lower, specially when there aren't as much trucks around. Mostly those haven't driven 200km/h and up. But at those speeds you drive very observant, nothing distract you, the focus is on the road, the car and the feedback from it. At 130-140 the most drivers aren't very "awake", they don't watch that far ahead whats happening and mostly they get very fast tired. Nice video, good driving, like it ^^
I was always told that Germans take their driving so seriously that the concept of drinking something while driving is laughed at by them and all other West European countries. I have visited Germany once after I was told this and it seemed to me that what I was told was true because my Seat Ibiza had no cupholders that I could find anywhere. Why were you slowing down on the long sweeping turns? Car can handle full throttle there.
+gizmotron2030 I think it's good practice to do that, because you don't know what might be lying ahead, you might find a stationary car after that sweeping turn.
+Trevor Bennett Yeah I forgot about almost clipping a broken down car on the A3 coming back from the ring. I had a habit of not slowing down unless it was absolutely necessary, as in, bad weather, heavy traffic, speed limits etc...
do u live here now? do u install the mic on the bumper? catless exhaust?

Thats not that easy in germany with testpipes! Tüv dont like These Things;)
