For those of you who like lists, links and names...
Thank you so much
I’m going to assume there wasn’t time marks on the video when you made the list and guess they might have used your list to add them later.
Edit: Oh also obligatory 69th like mention
apokolips soooo fucking hard
@@bigpeacepipe9741 nice.
Thank you...keep up ur life saving quest of list on UA-cam vids 😂
Once again, if they want the DCEU to be successful, they need to start allowing the writers of the ANIMATED features take over!
Absolutely dude, it's essential!
I 100% agree.
Writing scripts for animation and for movies are not the same thing. One thing I do notice is that most (if not all, I'm not all the way through the list) of the movies on this list are adaptions but something else I've noticed about most of the animated movies, in general, is that they are less obsessed with establishing who the character are and origins (unless the story is an origin story) and just tell stories as if everyone watching knows who everyone is and what their world is like.
I should also add, the WB people in charge of the live action movies' seen to be on a weird anti-dark kick these day (just look at "The Suicide Squad" that is nothing but a crappy sit-com, so most of these movies' would be out or they would make them re-write them to make them funny.
@@LibraGamesUnlimited This is similar to Star Wars and having Dave Filoni actually crossover into Live Action so never say never. What DC needs is a Favreau type to take some of the DCAU staff under their wing.
Mask of the Phantasm, The first Death of Superman, Batman Soul of the Dragon, Batman Year One... you're missing out on some absolute gems
Yeah I absolutely love all these movies
It was intentional, those are all obvious. This was meant to highlight overlooked movies.
@@brosephstalin2805 Soul of the Dragon is obvious... Also, if intentional then why not title it so???
@@fodicky4 Because he was angry with you personally.
@@brosephstalin2805 Hahaha... I like that answer
HBO Max has a pretty legit collection of DC animated movies. A lot of the incredible movies from this list can be found there! Another killer video, guys ❤
Because DC Universe is no longer a stand alone entity 😏
HBO max is not worth the cost as almost all they have worth watching are these movies. Pay one month, binge....quit. The nicest thing I can say is at least they are not as terrible as DC universe was...which literally died because 20% was worth watching and the rest....mmmmmm....no.
All except Batman vs TMNT.
I still buy the Blue Rays each time a new movie comes out. That way I can watch them whenever I want.
@@adambowman5964 Me too
If (years ago) DC had a smarter marketing team they would have released Batman: Under the Red Hood in theatres.
I've always been a fan of DC comics and I'm happy that we at least have the animated movies. Seems to be a case of too many chefs in the kitchen when they make their live action comic book movies. The main thing marvel did is they stuck to the original story. All the best superhero movies play out as a mirror of the comic at that time period. Superman, Tim Burton's Batman {which I apparently am the only one that hates. Fat joker? Jack Nicholson did great actor in did a great job but I couldn't get past that. Michael Keaton's Batman was awkward. It played out as if he would be nothing without his toys and they really didn't delve into the detective aspect of that man either. and Val kilmer wasn't as bad as people say at least he didn't smile in the bat suit like Clooney. You never smile in the bat suit!. But, Yeah, wouldn't you have been a little bit ticked off if they released Red Hood "as is" in theaters? I don't know if you're old enough to remember when Batman Mask of the Phantasm came out {shortly after the Batman animated series went off the air from initial run} went to see it in the theater and it was just a long episode. it was good but not theater good. If you go back even further it did that to us poor kids with bugs Bunny released it in the theater and all it was is a bunch of edited pieces of the shorts just enough to piss you off and want to see more of them. Hopefully the success of the animated Spider-Man movie will bring about bigger budget comic animated movies. And since I'm on a rant, for all you people complaining about too many superhero movies, just remember they never made a decent one up until Superman and then it was a long time before they made another "good" one Batman
@@darinb817 I'm always down for a good rant now and then. re: Burton's Batman, I agree I thought it was wildly overrated. I actually think all the Batman movies were bad up to the point where Christopher Nolan got a hold of them (that said I thought the Dark Knight was an extreme disappointment). I'm actually still of the belief that Batman and Robin (Joel Schumacher) is the WORST movie I've ever seen period bar none. re: Batman: Under the Red Hood, I'm not sure what you mean "as is" the version I saw on Netflix was more than ready for a theatrical release. is there another version I'm unaware of (Death in the Family excluded). and you're right Mask of the Phantasm was good but not good enough for a theatrical release.
Under the Red Hood was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Batman: Assault on Arkham should’ve made this list over Hell to Pay…
This is indeed facts. Assault was Dope.
I know, right. Because Deadshot, Boomer and Harley were in the first one.
Most watched!
Under the Red Hood is perfection. Perfect voice cast, exceptional edits to the original and some brilliant set pieces. That moment where Nightwing reviews the footage of the fight with Red Hood is fantastic. Just brilliant all round.
You forgot about the Iconic scene between Batman and Superman where Batman proves that he is a force that must not be messed with..
I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come, in your most private moments, I want you to remember, my hand, at your throat, I want you to remember, the one man who beat you.
my favorite line from Batman ever delivered. Thank you Frank Miller.
I personally like Batman/Superman Apocalypse (2010) and Justice League: Doom (2012) as well.
MOST of the DC animated movies are WAY better than live action(marvel included)!
I been on a binge since I got HBO max. Some of the best writing, story, the wit and jokes make u forget it’s animated. So good
The dark knight returns is still my favorite super hero movie to this day
Maybe some Marvel but no way in any reality is it WAY better than infinity war and end game. You can think they're better but there's no shot they're way better
On that same note though, i wish DC would either stop fucking around with live action if they're not going all in. If they're not going all in, than they're Doing something special in animated universe. I just wish they'd stop trying to multitask, they're losing the money war that comics are inevitably going to be in, but they could soley focus on the animated universe and start making them count. They could do so many good things rather than Gem here, few silly movies, amazing animation, eh movie, life changing movie over and over.
a decent mcu movie is only Winter Soldier.
Well "Batman : Assault on Arkham " is also a very good movie and could be included in this list.
True one of my favs
Yup !
🎯
"There's not really much to say about this animated movie" .. Directly after telling us the whole plot and ending of Batman: Long Halloween Part 1&2.
I love all of the Batman universe animated DC films. But the absolute BEST DC film, not just animated, but the BEST DC film is Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm. What a masterpiece of a motion picture.
So here is the realistic truth: Marvel live action are among the best comic book movies, animated are so-so. Dc live action Movies need to improve, but, Animated are among the best.
Yea, it's no contest on both accounts 🤜🤛
Yes this is True good fellow
That is the absolute truth.
Agreed.
You are spot on
Long Halloween is a damn near perfect Batman story. Film noir feel. Actual detective theme. Lots of villains used exactly for what they're good for. Perfect retcon of Two Face origin.
It was absolutely terrible. Even regular street thugs where able to beat and outrun Batman
@KiratheRenegade This is you 🤡
Victor Zazz should have been the villian in the cell.
And I'm so tired of Two-Face the thug. The guy was a district attorney.
Make him a mob boss with good press, and show us how smart he can be.
Stop relying on his coin and his origin to make him interesting.
It was extremely slow.
I've seen all of these movies and I love them all! Especially the he Justice league: Dark films!
When it comes to DC, anything animated is vastly superior to the live action movies.
In Marvel’s case, it’s the opposite
(Although there are exceptions, such as Avengers: EMH, among other things)
Apparently, EMH is in-continuity with the Hulk Vs movies and Wolverine and the X-men.
Animated movies can go all out. Their only limits are their imagination.
Indeed you are correct
What if? Marvel can sooo compete.
Dark Knight, Watchmen, Constantine, Batman begins, Man of steel better than most marvel films(at least for me). I really liked only one film from marvel it's blade
I've said for years they absolutely must let the animated writers make their live action movies. They'd be rolling in it, by now. 🤑
I've said this forever about all comic books made into movies, they should allow the best story arcs made live action and don't deviate from what the writers that created the story lines done. Fans validate work with purchase and fandom, don't let some toxic sjw "woke" fool dictate how it should be presented because they weren't the ones buying and supporting the art in the past. These comic book movies already have a built in audience who haven't seen many of the great classics that that are a part of the comic book nerds youth, I guarantee if they made movies that were close to the original as possible they would be raking money hand over fist, in fact they'd have to sew more pockets on their clothes so they can carry it all.
God yes! The animated Bats/Supes/ JLA are my DC head canon.
There's no way one can make animated movie into a live action. The limitations of reality and the sheer cost of cgi to make it look realistically fantastic makes it not even worth a try. That's why live action will never be as good as animated. It's 2 completely different worlds...
@@wannygreen206 Oh...like every Marvel movie I've seen - EVER? Even the ones I didn't need to go see looked better because of that...trust me, its worth it. If you've ever read a DC comic book, its worth it (for instance - New 52 Wonder Woman's First Born) storyline would be Breathtaking. 😵💫😭😵
@@duaneprice4092 yo do realize endgame is a completely different story than in comics? The reason thanos wanted to kill half the universe in comics was to impress death so she would be his girlfriend. And DC's batman vs superman is mocked all over the world cuz the whole conflict gets resolved with "why did you say that name?". And those are just the worst examples. No DC or Marvel movie is faithful to the source material. Lotr is praised as the best book adaptation ever and even there in the books frodo is a badass and in the movies he's basically dead weight for sam to carry cuz the movies can't present his internal struggles impactfully. I'm glad you have such low quality threshold but the truth of the matter is that movie directors don't make faithful adaptations is cuz they can't. That's coming from their mouths. Look up some interviews and try not to get too discouraged...
Dark Knight Returns is my favorite Batman story!
"Batman? Darrrrrling!" 😏
The sole big criticism of this movie is the elimination of the internal monologues in the graphic novel - they add so much dimension to each character.
It was a pleasure to see bats stomp a mud hole in the boy scouts ass
Can we just talk about Alfred eating pizza with a fork? This man does not drop the classy butler bit. Ever.
In the animated movie Superman 5 Elites when Superman says "I can kill you but I chose not to, it's not who I am" changed me. That is Superman's influence
My brother introduced me to DC animated movies with batman the killing joke. From there i bought batman under the red hood, and that is by far my favorite animated movie.
Batman: Year One Batman: The Long Halloween Catwoman: When In Rome Batman: Dark Victory Robin: Year One Batgirl: Year One Batman: Three jokers
The new 52 continuity of movies are incredible, I’d say it gives the mcu a run for its money.
Hopefully they bring it back with a rebirth movie
It's this simple: DC ANIMATED films are almost always based strictly on the best actual comics stories, and they have dozens of great ones out of thousands published.
Whereas DC live action is never based closely enough on the story that actually worked.
Great video, I'm going to like and comment, you clearly invested a lot of time and love into this video. Great work!
My only suggestion is that in the future if you could edit this down to half the length and give a tighter sinopsis and fewer spoilers.
A lot of these were great. My fav animated movie has to be Mask of the Phantasm, though. Such a great story, haunting music.
For it's time, I also liked Superman: Doomsday. It was when I first noticed the animated movies going towards more adult language. They only said "hell", which is tame these days, but you really didn't see it much back then. The scene when clone Superman is scolding the old woman for leaving her cat outside really had me tense lol...I was like "..Is Superman about to kill this old woman? o.o"
the lack of love for JL: new frontier saddens me
That was really good
I held off and when I finally watched it….. instant affection…
Agreed. I just wish that the film was long enough to include John Henry and the original Suicide Squad led by Colonel Rick Flagg Sr. instead of being relegated to snapshots and mentions.
My inner 80's kid is furious to see Batman beat Raphael.
Raph has always been my favourite turtle
@@Keverything99 Your "favorite ninja turtle" becomes an interesting subject when you use them to compare to the 4 Humors.
Flash Point, Batman Dark Knight Returns and Under the Red Hood I have them physically on DVD and BD.
DC makes great cartoons. I don’t know why they can’t make a live movie.
Hollywood & their focus groups & trend chasing bullshit.
They don't stick to the material. They keep pushing some sjw agenda instead of pushing the amazing original stories.
@@rhameseshamilton8045 They ONLY push their SJW agenda. They will burn every last dollar of potential profit trying to get us to swallow poison when people refuse. They have destroyed almost all multi-billion franchises doing this and now it is quite clear that no more good movies, ever will be made in the US.
And it is still better than what the Brits did to Dr Who.
@@nonenone4461 " it is quite clear that no more good movies, ever will be made in the US." laughs as some of the best comic based movies have come out this year
I don't know about that. I liked Wonder Woman and Aquaman. In many ways they were live action versions of the animated movies. Justice League would have worked if they would have used one of the animated movies as a template. The Tim Burton Batman movies were great. I was not sold on Christian Bale as Batman. But he helped give us Heath Ledger's Joker, who I think is one of the best live action Jokers. As far as animated Joker - Mark Hamill will always be my guy.
Please „Top 10 skincrawling Creatures from the Sleepy Hollow TV Series“
Thank you for making this. The DC Animated Universe is Incredible. The DC Live Action Movies have been Hit and Miss. I don't understand why DC will not let the Animated writers do the Live Action Movies. They are so much better... They are Incredible...
Definitely agree! Love the DC animated universe. I wish they could bring that into the live action
"I want you to remember the person who beat you............. Because you didn't fight back, pretty much let him do whatever he wants, kept mildly pushing him away when you could've ended him in the blink of an eye, and tried to TALK to him when you could've frowned and burned him from miles away."
My favourite part in Doomsday is the killing blow, it was done so well. Sups is completely drained but gives it one last go, It was a short sequence but extremely powerful and moving.
2:38 This evil Wonder Woman was an even more deadly villain than the Superman from Injustice
She has literally a brutal unreformed ancient Greek mentality about violence.
Another fun fact is DC Animation uses some amazing talent for some of the characters that you will be blown away once you read the credits.
Andre Braugher
Michael B. Jordan
Cree Summer
LeVar Burton
and I'm just glancing the surface with star power they have used. Expect one well know screen actor to voice a character in their animated movies.
you forgot Mark Hamill....the voice of Joker in damned near every appearance in the DCAU.
Peter Weller (aka Robocop) as the voice of Batman in Batman Returns and Ariel Winters as Robin (Carrie Kelley)
Tress MacNeille (Futurama, Disenchanted) as Salina
AND Tara Strong has voiced several DC characters in the DCAU.
Batman: *dodges Omega Beams;goes toe to toe with Darkseid and Kalibak simultaneously*
The Calendar Killer: *slaughters another entire family on Christmas Eve, again*
I've watched most of these. Justice League dark is great but the standouts are the dark Knight returns and crisis. But don't forget justice league all stars!😃👍
Actually in "Batman: Under The Red Hood" it's highly likely that Jason Todd survives at the end of the film, like in the comics since he reappearing after the "Under The Red Hood" story arc.
He's had his own series for years
He does survive. Bruce searches for him and can't find him. Alfred only further confirms it in the way he asks about removing Jason's old costume and Bruce tells him to leave it up.
At the end of the movie I always said that if Batman survived then his protege should have too
The Batman beyond movie was insane watching as a kid years ago it’s been like almost 20 years wow
Fails to mention mask of the phantasm, the best Batman movie ever made.
@@gavinpowell4607 yes i agree, if you are talking about Batman films, but when talking about films about Batman then I go with Mask. I failed to be clear what I meant in my original message, I am sorry for that.
DC on top when it comes to animated movies I can't get enough of them. Now if only they can translate it onto some of the live-action films.
" ... a Pizza party, hosted by, Batman. " 🤣🤣🤣👌
Assault on Arkham is my fave but Flashpoint Paradox is right behind it!
Awesome Recap & trip down memory lane!!!!
The thing is I’ve always. Thought that the animated shows & movies were infinitely much better than any live-action adaptation. They are a much more honest representation of the characters without the Hollywood agenda & ego
In what way please tell me why should i believe you on that regard
@@Dcuniverse60 That’s real easy. For one example the heroes DO NOT kill, In the live action versions the Villains are killed all the time thus altering the Heroes personality & M O There are more examples but I don’t have time to go into them right now ✌🏼
this was great, thanks!
Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since Flash Paradox came out.
Best animated move ever made...
Glad I found your channel. I needed a list of movies to download.
Marvelous talking about DC, Ironic.
i have to admit, i hated the portrail of superman in the DCAMU, mostly it felt like they went all in on what people complained about man of steel, but when i saw the death and rebirth of superman, i actually saw superman, not some emotionless version of Homelander, but the actual superhero, a man who'd give his life to save EVERYONE he can, even saving a kid from doomsday, THAT is superman, but then his idiocy in apokalipse war was a kick in the balls to that, though i do love that line of "Do Your Best, Honey!!" that was legit funny and fitting
Justice league the Zack Snyder cut was as close to the DC animation counter part as it can get well least action wise.
I love how Terry beat Joker by playing his own game.
Fantastic breakdown and great choices
I always enjoyed Under the Red Hood because it's a fun debate with Jason's philosophy vs. Bruce's. Batman TDKR also gave me goosebumps of doing this 'Sons of batman'. Along with Batman Beyond return of the Joker. And who can forget Batman vs. TMNT, the crossover we didn't expect nor asked for, but was given to us.
The one that is missing is Superman All Star. That is the best of DC. That’s a fine list btw.
9 Graphic Novel Films Better Than Any MCU Movie explored
Literally anything
After "eckspecially", "co-horsing" and "unbenounced" - - I just cannot finish this.
I have always maintained The Dark Knight Returns is the best batman movie ever made!! It's got everything including the best exchange between batman and superman ever of all time.
I collect the DC Animated Movies. I have quite a collection. I feel in love with them with the first Green Lantern movie. I thought Young Justice really picked up trend. I hate it didn't get a good enough run.
What do you mean, Young Justice is still running? The second part of season four is coming out in 2 weeks
So I've watched this video several times. It's very well done. Congrats. However in both the "Death of Superman" and "Justice League: War", I couldn't help but notice what seems to be a complete disregard of Wonder Woman's amazing contribution. "In your "Death of Superman" segment, you describe her as being nearly killed by Doomsday when actually she is holding him off. And yes, she takes quite the beating, but is still the only one of the leaguers still standing (and the world's last line of defense) when Superman arrives to take Doomsday on. Note that she is the only leaguer to not be dispensed so quickly and easily by Doomsday. Your one sentence description of her makes her participation seem less than a sad footnote. In "Justice League: War", Wonder Woman is the one who codifies the leagues attack on Darkseid and his forces. She more than stands toe to toe with him. She is the one who strikes the first "death blow" if you will, by taking one of his eyes. She also more than survives his wrath as he rages against her in retaliation. In this segment, you don't even say her name? It's not feeling like an oversight... just saying.
And DoS was not one of the best DCEU movies, just like KJ was disappointing in its execution
This list should have had 12 entries on it.
The 12th entry, should have been Justice League: Doom.
Batman under the red hood and Superman doomsday and flashpoint paradox where amazing animated dc movies
These movies have been essential for any fan of animated movies and comics in general. As a huge fan of Marvel comics and the MCU, DC's animated movies have been BY FAR King! Great video but a little long for my liking but I will follow. Keep it up
I just love the DC Animated movies! Especially The Dark Knight Returns Part 1&2 and Justice League War. JLW best moment was when Darkseid made his appearance on Earth, the music, his voice, holy shit that sent shivers down my spine as it made him so much more impressive!
The only reason Dark Knight Returns has faults is in Robocop's voice acting.
I still like Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. The best part is the line from Batman saying, "I didn't need them caught. I needed them scared."
Minor correction:: Owlman's tru objective was not to take over the Crime Syndicate, it was to end all of existence. His reasoning? That would be the only choice that would make any difference. Quite chilling for a PG 13 rating imho.
Damn Good!
Flashpoint paradox, justice league war, throne of Atlantis, and justice league dark apokolips war are some of the best. Under the Redhood, Crisis on two earths were excellent
I'm surprised that Mask of the Phantasm didn't even get an honorable mention.
I saw it when it came out, but I was far too young to really get it. I watched it again a few years ago, and wow! Now I get it.
The following titles are also amazing,
Batman Hush
Batman Ninja
Batman The Killing Joke
Batman Soul of the Dragon
Son of Batman.
inner fanboy is showing, everyone knows soul of the dragon is fucking terrible
I just wish DC live action would learn from DC Animated, but don't get me wrong I'm VERY grateful for DC Animated movies!!
Listen ok my friend none of this movies is like the comics just because is not Doesn't make.any less good of movie even pinocchio and jungle book was diffrent from.the book do want good dcue movies with good storytelling or do you want mediorce dce movie
The Animated DCEU is a faaar cry from the IRL attempts made so far... And Batman Hush deserves its rightful recognition as well.
Thank you for the information
BVTMNT is my favorite dc animated movie
The TMNT/Batman Crossover makes me excited for the upcoming Justice League/RWBY Crossover movie.
I give Credit to Sam Register for choosing the people has for making these movies he is the best thing to happen to DC animation in all 3 phases. Golden age, New 52 and Rebirth animation movies saw Sam Register at the helm. nice video my guy
Superman vs The Elite should have an honorable mention here, even if it's just for the last 15 minutes
And let's not forget about how elite the game play cut scenes are too. At times be better than the cinematic films.
Allstar Superman, Batman Year One, and Son of Batman are must adds to this list!!
I agree with this video, these animayed movies rock. Thomas Wayne is awsome in flashpoint Paradox
For me the animated Joker will always be Mark Hamill. the voice and the iconic laugh, everyone has tried to mimic but never achieved it. Also I've only ever thought that Josh Weeden was an extremely talented writer and made many of the DC comic characters come to life. The only problem I ever saw in the DCU movies was that, they intermixed teenage characters with the adult characters. Like Flash and Cyborg were adults buy the time the Justice League was formed. but they are teenagers in the DCU movies. It turns their characters into comic relief instead of hardcore super heroes.
Under the red hood, the dark knight returns part 1&2, justice league dark and justice league dark apokolips war are my favorites. It shows just how much of a bad ass Batman is and how John Constantine is the most powerful being in the DC universe
The OST of The Dark Knight returns beggars belief. Christopher Drake did an outstanding job with that.
The entire DC animated movie universe is executed stupendously
I'm torn between under the red hood and return of the joker. Both are the best DC animated movies I've ever seen.
Awesome 👌
Great Video and Great R&D Mr. Marvelous Videos. I still wish that the DCAU would make a Dark and Serious Solo Flash Film, there has been so much attention given to Batman and Superman, it just seem unfair that my Favorite Superhero gets so ignored. They could base it on the Flash Graphic Novel Zoom Vol. 8 of the New 52. I wouldn't mind seeing a Martian Manhunter Solo Film too!
Shredder getting defeated by batman was deliciously good
I've had the pleasure of seeing most of the movies on this video and enjoyed them all. Those that I haven't seen I would like to see, one day.
You can always look for the DVD of the movie you want to see
Flashpoint is one of my favorites and I have a lot. I can't think of one of their animated movies that I don't like.
Having seen the movies long before this movie review... I AM a true fan of the Justice league and its members... :)
That was great! I agree with every choice.
I feel like I would laugh every time Owl Man said who in a sentence "Who do you work for!" (Background giggle)
Red Hood and Flashpoint are my two favorites.
DC might as well bring these to the theaters. They could make more money
Could someone list the movies mentioned in this video? I'd like to see them without spoilers. Thank you! ^^
