eBay is well aware of their actions and what they do. When youtubers with a following make videos about these issues, then to uphold this image eBay responds and pretends to care just to look good. But when the everyday seller has the same issue eBay could care less.
I really wish people would see this, "talking to ebay" isnt that, its talking to the ebay staff employed to calm you down etc... Ebay only cares about ebay, I am amazed people would even trust their businees in the hands of ebay.
Ebay will do whatever it wants to protect itself and keep punters thinking all is fine
100% true, people with a platform that have an audience will get back to you but us people we are nobody, ebay couldn't care less, I got banned for selling items which are mainly electronics, without a reason I got banned, but nick says here eBay will listen, no they won't, they ban you, you can't appeal the banned account, its ridiculous and not fair on sellers.
It's also quite possible that the "glitches" start on the account when they spot the criticisms & the awkward questions posed on YT etc. They're a vindictive lot...that seem to get away with stalking.
@@andrewjackson246 Remember when eBay bigwigs sent pig fetuses to a random blogger just for a bit of criticism? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
@@Ruhma. Exactly...it's just that they're a little more subtle in their approach with most others. US big tech has much in common with the CCP...
ebay is now a shadow of its former self, the selling seems to be micromanaged and a "we know best" approach
Yes, and micromanaged by bots set to flag certain patterns and unable to reason about the bigger picture.
Love the fact there is a amazon box behind them 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hate the fact that you are deemed guilty until you can prove your innocence - very difficult if they don't make it clear what the issue is . Trust works both ways , eBay need to learn this.
Ebay has lost control of its own platform by the looks of it. It has grown to fast for them to manage. It's time a decent competitor came to the market!!
Does anyone remember Yahoo Auctions which closed in 2007?
I completely empathize with this. I was a new seller and was permanently banned with no appeal. Upon calling them they said you can't do anything and this is final, however, when I specifically asked to speak to the Trust and Safety Team, then they just verified my identity and appealed the ban. This is alarming because if I wouldn't have known to speak to that specific department, my account would be done.
The problem is never the middle level staff in Ireland or the USA - its that these decisions are outsourced to remote low cost locations in India / Philippines who demonstrate zero common sense and just blindly follow a script without any knowledge of local norms and generally get it wrong. Bring these decisions back to the geography to which the seller is located.
"...these decisions are outsourced to remote low cost locations in India / Philippines..." Given that we're specifically speaking about eBay here, what proof do you have for that assertion? I'm genuinely interested to know.
spot on, you get to speak to someone but you may as well not do. You end up feeling bad venting to this person on the other side of the planet who has nothing to do with your issue, no power to change it, and will just be profusely polite to you as they're (I mean this in a completely unpatronizing way) desperate to keep their job.
@@softladification its easy do 20 x call back requests or do 1000 call back requests or phone direct...
you will get through to ireland probably 0.001 percent of the time.. every other call will be india...and fwiw you will need either valium or a doobie after your first call by the time you get to your tenth call you will need samaritans
@@softladification Have you called E-bay before? If you had, you'd know. Some do a great job, some not so much.
I've pulled all my listings off ebay now. Had no end scammer buyers trying to pull a fast one by falsely claiming items were not as described, hoping I would just refund them and not ask for the item to be returned. And when they do eventually return it, they have worn the clothing! No help from ebay, I gotta refund them, pay for the return postage, pay the paypal fees - no point challenging these fake returns, and each one destroys my reputation! And ebay always sides with the buyers! I'm done with selling on ebay!
You summed up perfectly why I closed my ebay account this march after 15 years. They are awful.
Selling clothing on eBay sounds like a nightmare!
If you think eBay is bad, Amazon is much worse when it comes to siding with the buyers...
@@tube1062 It can't possibly come any worse than ebay but Amazon have a bad reputation anyway, best avoid them.
Just pulling the listings instantly reduces stress levels and allows your mind to think of other options that are healthier for you long term.
Just try it and see - a breath of fresh air.
There's a big difference between "hearing" what someone has to say and "listening" to what someone has to say eBay.
Yes and not trying the classic #ebay tactic of ‘empathising with your situation’ and doing nothing.
You just hit the boil nail. Right on the head. With the sledge hammer.
Great work nic and Andrea, but sounds like more crp from ebay
It's not how eBay treats sellers who have a UA-cam channel with tons of subscribers that matters. It's how it treats its sellers who DON'T have a UA-cam channel.
They will do absolutely nothing and to be honest it sounds like you have had a massive pacifier jammed into your mouths by them. It's good that you are in a position to at least get an eBay employee to take notice of you but there are literally thousands out there who aren't in your position who are feeling unnerved, unheard, unloved and insignificant. The contempt eBay evidently has towards its sellers is absolutely shocking considering the amount of fees we pay each month but unfortunately this is now the norm. Well done for trying to help but ultimately it's futile.
Have you stopped making videos?
@@retrobootdisc Took a break, will be back next month :)
So true northern I just received my account back no reason given how to supply the information like they said but now I have a restriction on my account I have a basic store and I only get 500 listings because they want to monitor to make sure I’m a good seller and to make sure that everything is up to Ebay standards go figure right
Agree 100%.
Easiest way is to pull all listings - instant de-stress.
Plenty of other options.
amen 1000x
Thank you for being our voice! It is important to express our concerns, if any real change is to come.
Why does it take a billion dollar business, 25 years to figure out sending a simple email to ask to complete a security check.
If they can’t give you specifics for mistakes then how can you be assured they won’t restrict again and again with no explanation
You can't. And now that they have cut the ties with Paypal, it's even worse; every month with more "new" rules.
I’ve asked why I was suspended and what can I do to avoid suspension again. They couldn’t tell me apart from vague references to the T&Cs. I so I got suspended for the same thing again. I don’t know how many more suspensions my account will handle before being permanently banned. Surprise surprise eBay won’t tell me that either.
This is a transparency issue. eBay are not and will not be transparent. Vagueness and marketing buzzword speak is everything.
I’m trying to do the right thing and eBay wouldn’t help. Their computer says no system is appalling. There is no forum for common sense arbitration.
This will happen again and again.
I’m scared to list.
I don’t believe eBay are listening.
eBay are messing with peoples mental health here.
Be better than this eBay.
I Don't think they care about the terrible effect their stupid actions have on peoples Mental Health or they would do something about it..
Hi. Good luck. There are other market-places you may wish to try. It sounds like a cross between "Catch-22" and "1984" selling for eBay.
As far as ebay are concerned sellers have about as much significance as the dot above the i in the word sh*t.
That's a great analogy!
Do you think they would have contacted you if you weren't a UA-camr?
eBay wouldn’t of given two fucks. This would have gone down the plug hole a long time ago.
The thing is there's always going to be a lack of communication if they rely so heavily on their algorithms which seems unlikely would be looking at notes left by a human. The issue is that such a big thing like suspending an account should be looked into on a case by case basis. And that goes with lots of ebay issues, even most people you speak to there don't understand an issue properly and just follow a box ticking process, it's hard to find someone that uses their own judgment.
No mention about loss of earnings for that day, that would be the question I would be asking first lol
They don’t care that’s why they say it’s not there problem basically
I personally would be tired of the canned responses and vague words spoken so often from Ebay. I am a new friend of your channel today and appreciate your videos. So many other places to sell, don't stay in a place where you can be abused, and/or controlled by anyone. HUGS and GOD bless you all 🤗.
So it is clear to me that if ebay could not tell you why they restricted your account is because they themselves have no idea!!
I agree that's what it sounded like too xx
I think that they know very well WHY...but if they admitted it, the similarity with the CCP would be so obvious.
Most of the suspensions and flagged (dropshipper) accounts are done by their algorithms without any human interventions whatsoever. Until you call them, their reps have no idea what happened to you, and most of these reps have no power to overturn any of it. However, in some instances it helps to ask for a supervisor or to be transferred to another department.
Stories like this are terrifying. I'm glad you got it resolved.
Thank you, Nic and Andrea, for the update on this. I sense that, whilst you might be partially reassured by your conversation with Ebay, your faith in Ebay as an organisation remains shaken - entirely understandably. We live in a tricky world and processes and procedures are undoubtedly needed to keep ALL Ebay users (and the wider population) safe from 'scammers' (and worse), but your experience has proved that Ebay has a long way to go to get the balance right. I do truly hope that the lady you spoke to is able to use your dreadful experience as a tool to get things changed at Ebay. Thanks again guys - I hope you feel a bit better about recent events now, but I am sure it will take a while and some actual action on Ebay's part to restore your faith in Ebay to its pre-restriction levels. Have a good weekend guys!
Platitudes, but please don't expect any real changes for the better and take it all with a pinch of salt.
Its great they got in touch but does not explain then why did some people you know of get permanently suspended? Hate to say it but its probably more of a exercise in publicity than them actually using humans to look into algorithm based decisions! Still I hope they read the comments to get a feel for what their paying customers (like us) are thinking!
Yep.
Good to get some background on all this - it's a shame it's not more transparent
Agreed
I think I told you about my problem over my lack of VAT registration. I would add that Ebay agreed that I hadn't done anything wrong, but then sent me a (probably automated) email telling me not to do it again!
AI for ya !
probably alexia? alexa? the AI bot who types replies like a human..her sister siri makes more sense
Everything will be fine, till the next time, unfortunately
I think Ebay is struggling to let the left hand know what the right hand is doing these days. Iffy software and its reliance on AI bots and poorly trained / informed CS staff just makes things worse, so it's understandable how situations like yours come about. Doesn't help us sellers though. I think it will take something like FB Marketplace taking a big chunk of their market share before they do anything really positive to their platform. We'll see......
eBay did this to me over 10 years ago. Woke up one morning and found my account suspended. I contacted them, and of course, no reason given. First I was told, "read our entire user agreement, then let us know that you read it". How is that supposed to tell me what I did wrong? Later I was told, "Send us a copy of your driver license, and proof of purchase of XYZ items". Excuse me? Who are you to demand proof that I owned the items I'm selling? What if I picked them up from a yard sale? How about a phone call or even an email if you have concerns? Like some cops, their motto is, "shoot first, ask questions later". They seem to be clueless as to the level of bad feelings they create towards themselves when they do this. What's so puzzling is that they continue to bite the hands that feed them. Makes no sense whatsoever.
After selling on ebay for 15 years I gave it up in late 2020 due to lack of confidence in the support ebay give to there buyers. People sending different items back to me than I'd send out, opening cases and having faith ebay would sort it in by favour but no, 100% of the 4-5 times it happened in 2020 customer was refunded and I was left £1000 out of pocket. I've now ditched ebay and have transformed my business so I don't need them. For years I worried about how I could survive without ebay but I did it. I'm out of being under there control. Good luck to you guys I know every part of your frustration. Being a member of a Facebook group showing all the scams on ebay its pretty obvious they don't care then just want damage limitation.
Ebay won't change, they just don't care.
they do care but it not for people and people having a living wage from selling using them they care about MONEY
Thanks for your follow up. Let's watch this space from Ebay.
Brilliant work guys. It is people like ourselves who get penalised for doing the right thing. I recently had an item removed and when I rang eBay to explain I had the correct licensing it fell on deaf ears. Love your videos and thank you for sharing the concerns of many and feeding it back.
eBay owe you both sssssoooo much this is not the first time you’ve helped them. X
I've had the same conversations with them lately, i got a bit more out of them past few days they are working on it i think, it's just how long it will take, it's to do with new wannabe eBay sellers coming onto the site and they have tightened up like a ducks behind putting it politely, oh and can i say at this point you guys are my favourite UA-camrs :) they have one half of eBay that make promises they cant keep and the other half that have to try and keep those promises
Things like this make me look at eBay as a stepping-stone for making money in the short term, not a place to set up shop for good. They lack respect for sellers.
If you're on managed payments, why didn't they put a temporary hold on payouts instead of stopping ability to list? It seems like their concern was that you completed a sale off eBay. They would rather trample honest businesses than let one commission fee get away from them.
I am just glad things got sorted for you guys
Thanks for the update guys. Ridiculous situation and i agree - we do feel very vulnerable. This is the reason i have an extra part time job as well as ebay/amazon. I just don't trust them at all. You can do everything right and still get in bother.
Well done on the video, eBay wake up without sellers you have nothing!
Their excuses for why they shut you down is complete BS in my opinion. A quick email or phone call could have resolved any security concerns and saved both you AND them a LOT of time and headache. They literally act as if they hate sellers and are trying to shoot themselves in the foot.
Thanks for pursuing this and sharing the outcomes guys, see what happens.
A very thoughtful and honest appreciation of the current situation. Well done.
Start your own website as you already have subscribers
or I can start a competitor on E Bay and treat both the seller and buyer with respect and really value them.
Thanks for the update. Glad eBay got back to you. The surprise at the goings on with sellers surely indicates the incredible gap in communication and that eBay is not in touch with their sellers in any meaningful way.
I like the way you have promoted Amazon in the background the whole video !
Hi Nic & Andrea. Thank you for the update on the whole eBay mess. It would seem that there is a possibility that a door is opening to a bit of optimism. I hope that it does work out way. Your reporting and following up on issues like this is a wonderful service. The ball is in eBays court now to follow through on their end.
You are correct regarding the headlight return procedure video feedback. They haven't changed anything. The system is wide open to abuse.
Good to see u guys back up and running!
EBAY HAS SUCKED LATELY,needs to PROTECT the SELLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got a random survey yesterday asking all sorts about what I thought about eBay and if I felt valued as a seller and stuff maybe you’ve had an impact haha
Well done guys
Been on eBay for 25 years... Bottom line don't ever put all your eggs in one basket. Don't rely on eBay or any one site. we use 12 different sites due to the lack of any faith in eBay's CEO and management in general.
This is my biggest fear as an eBay seller. I have a employees whose families depend on the paycheck they earn and a warehouse that I rent along with tens of thousands of dollars tied up in inventory; a suspension would quickly sink my business as almost 100% of what I sell is on eBay. Warnings and corrective advice would be so greatly appreciated rather than losing sleep that someone might make a mistake that could cost us the business. We are very careful and would never intentionally break rules. We do understand. Also, sellers that have hundreds or in my case thousands of listings have all their items shut down while a small seller might have only a few. Theses full suspension punishments are draconian to larger sellers with years of experience and honest selling. Thank you for bringing this to their attention.
As you say eBay has taken note of it .....And filed it in the waste paper bin.
You guy's are great!! Learn so much from your content. 😊
The problem is when you call ebay, you get these people that have no clue what they are doing or talking about (if you can get anyone at all anymore and not have to resort to the "intelligent automated support".
So many people have had their accounts permanently suspended, I tried to talk to ebay but we got the same scripted message. No answers yet. I am so exhausted and out of pocket now.
If only people communicated great work both of you love your channel.
Helpful video. Good documentation.
Ebays response to price gouging is to restrict any new sellers to that product, of course this can only lead to a lack of competition and price gouging .
Thanks guys! Appreciate you!
So from 2016 to dec 2019 I had a ebay busines doing 3-500 orders a day. In fact ebay sent us an announcement that we were doing very well in terms of volume of feedback etc. They took down our account on the basis a product we created and sold for 3 years did not follow uk law and that a government body told them to take us down. With no appeals process. I got an official statement from the government body that they did not investigate us, our products were not illegal and that they made no such communication with ebay. 3 years of hard work, starting from the ground up meant I had to let go of staff, two offices and I ended up losing my rented house as I had no means of an income. Of course its my fault i had all my eggs in one basket well i also had an amazon account and im sure you all know well enough that on amazon chinese sellers have back door access to through you off your own listings and amazon ask for you supplier invoices to then buy the product en masse or simply ban you and release their own version. I wish you the best of luck but they are not to be trusted.
Generic answers by eBay is my biggest bugbear - best to be specific and save all this heartache
Hi guys,
I'm a former powerseller going back decades but only sell the odd item on eBay now. The last item sold was a complete nightmare. The buyer claimed they'd recieved a different item than listed. I called eBay and stated item sent was as advertised but if buyer wanted a refund to return it but they refused. eBay advised not to worry and my call was noted only to issue a full refund days later to the buyer. It left me £60 out if pocket and without the item. No more eBay selling for me.
I never, ever keep any money in my paypal account for this reason and now I won't accept anything other than payment via paypal so I can immediately withdraw any payments made to me. I don't want ebay any where near my money.
@@paulsmythe7620 doesnt work.... they will refund using buyer protection rules and it will be added to your seller fees
They are probably following suit with Amazon who side with the buyer 100% of the time...
I got scammed over Christmas when selling my old iMac. I notified ebay straight away, first they didn't respond then they stood on the side of the scamming buyer. No help or support for me whatsoever. After loosing nearly £200 I closed my account with them. I recommend the same for you. You are just wasting your time IMHO. Open an independent resale site and leave these a**holes behind.
Hello to you both
We all should take a page out of Rosa parks book and boycott ebay. You are there Stars who make them look good. Its about time the little ebayers where treated right.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!! I’ll sleep a little better tonight knowing eBay is addressing this issue. We sellers are always living a little scared. I know I am.
This “leave a note” business is a nightmare they never do
we will make a note on your account... lol as if... sounds good tho and makes you feel like you just started sucking your thumb lol
The real business problem is that is that as a business entity , there are layers of managers or automatic computer algorithms or in various countries various bureaucracies who don’t take responsibility or who have no power to change or do anything real and so ebay will ultimately fail...this is obvious ..
These too big companies are all destined for failure because they are too big and unable to change direction or amend problems once a policy has been set by someone in the company nameless and faceless and powerless . It’s impossible to speak to a multifaceted entity, may as well speak to the sea. Police teams?? What crap !
There's no need to stress your self,I had my eBay account suspended and hatted it,not until I was referred to *KNOWNHACK* on Instagram he actually helped me recover my account in few minutes he's reliable and trustworthy I recommend him for everyone
I’m sorry to hear you guys are experiencing a hard time with eBay. I’m not happy with the recent changes eBay have introduced. My sales and eBay traffic have dropped significantly since the start of March and I’m not doing anything differently to how I was listing before. It’s frustrating.
Me too - sales fell off a cliff this month.
I have been suspended in the past, even when ebay agreed I did nothing wrong. Also have had items taken down by ebay (higher end medical collectible) for not being allowed to sell it. It had been listed for a year! Really? I support my family this way. ebay could care less. Makes me sad.
This happened to me I'm not a business seller .I was listing my own goods what I have collected over the last 10 years that I no longer want but ebay insisted I was a business seller anyway I got it sorted.
I lost one of my accounts after listing a playstation 5 poster listing was in the right section and clearly stated it was a poster of a3 size at 3.99 my account was shut down and an appeal was rejected. I'd been using this account for quite some time with no problems so them saying that doesn't happen is untrue because it happend to me. It was so stressful and up setting I sold my expensive printer and all the inks as I couldn't face starting up again. I was selling 20 prints a day sometimes more and ebay closed my account over nothing and couldn't see I wasnt trying to rip people of by selling playstation 5s for 3.99. EBay if your reading this how rediculas you are
eBay customer service is awful in my opinion...our business account was hacked just over a year ago by hackers who changed our email address (an L to an i) on some of our best selling listings, and due to the high turnover and the low value of each individual order, about £700 was syphoned from payments via PayPal from our eBay account over several weeks before we noticed...our password was a very secure one that we were convinced it was compromised inside of eBay, both eBay and PayPal said it was not their responsibility, but each other’s! Despite reporting it the action fraud (who we never heard back from) we never recovered the stolen money. We now use a 2 step Verification to sign in and would urge other sellers to protect their accounts as you are very much on your own if your account is compromised
Interesting video. Their flagging is similar to credit card security decline activities. I used to work for a US Gov agency that responds to emergencies. We would contact the credit card vendors ahead of our departure with arrival/departure dates, cities we expected to buy in, raised our limits (very) high and requested that notes be put on our accounts to avoid declines. Sure enough, we would have an $18k purchase lined up, tieing up the store manager's time, and our card would be declined. We would have to go through the whole thing again; they told us these were random protection actions. Now I see that it's AI and not a fraud prevention department that can read comments. You're probably right; no comments are ever entered. It would be fun to ask them to read the comments back to you and see if they can.
Great content Nic & Andrea good to know there is some human relations with eBay
"We'll put a note on your account" is eBay speak for "I will do nothing." I've almost NEVER had these supposed "notes" be available to other CSR's or anyone else in the company. Nobody reads them, nobody references them, and when you call again the new CSR has no idea what you are calling about. It's almost as if the "notes" are yellow sticky notes taped to a computer monitor. Sort of the same way that, after spending an hour explaining a problem to a CSR, they transfer you to someone else, with assurances that all the information you've already provided will be given to that person. Inevitably, whether or not they tell you "please wait while I review the notes," you wind up having to start ALL OVER at the beginning.
Sadly i've heard this all before from Ebay and this was years ago. There was a major problem, were surprised and sorry to hear from you but we've taken your concerns onboard and will pass them along, but you know deep down nothing will change and it didn't until I was let down again with the old " guilty until you prove your innocence" issue. I have used Ebay since 2004 but no longer sell in any quantity as its just not worth the hassle. How long now before there's a follow up vid with similar issues !!
Congratulations on the growth of your channel.
Hi NIC Andrea glad you got it all sorted the problem is eBay can do want they want and all these new changes are not good all the extra time o lust things as well.
Great channel learning a lot. Jim & Linda
Ebay needs some serious competition.
Don't try to fix ebay just find a better option.
I am a customer of Ebay and am appalled that they do this. If people are selling casually then it doesn't matter as much, but to suspend accounts of people who rely on their living is unnacceptable. I will not by be buying from Ebay again if I hear about this happening again. They need to understand that customers like me think it is unnaceptable and there are plenty of other places online to shop.
then you should stop now my friend.. i would say this is a daily occurrence but in truth this is a second by second occurrence and happens thousands of times each day
The eBay reb you spoke to mentioned COVID price gouging. For years before covid, I had some multi-quantity listings in the related categories and I found eBay's approach to dealing with price gouging both frustrating and short sighted. Here in the US there was an immediate shortage of face masks, toilet paper, antibacterial soap, etc. eBay's reaction was to randomly flag and pull listings from long time Top-Rated Sellers, even the old listings that were not bumped in price. But at the same time some (Not All) of mine came down, I received heavy handed messages to warn against price gouging, I found they never pulled down some of the worst offending listings in the same categories as mine. Listings were still up month later, from new selling accounts with prices 4-6 times the norm.
I got into this, via messaging, with a few eBay staffers because as time passed they said only "approved" sellers would be allowed to sell in those categories. Since I really felt eBay should be using its distribution ability to get every critically needed item Sellers could source out into the market (rather than restrict them), so short falls could be shipped out where they were needed. I even offered to sell at a loss, but it made no difference.
They effently allowed "trusted approved Sellers" to list. So I asked how to move ahead and get approved to sell. Their answer was typically eBay doublespeak. They stated there was no approval process currently in place. So the logical question was who was doing the approving and at what level a Mega Seller was getting the green light, if there was no Approval Process.
In typical eBay fashion, it all seemed wrong. I pointed out that many those non e-commerce Small Business that were closing their doors actually had stock sitting in storage closets, on shelves , or pallets of critically needed items, that even if their doors were closed, could be shifted on-line to get them out to a Grandma who needed a pack of Depends, a Teen Girl who needed Sanitary Napkins or some front line worker who was out of PPE. They just ignored it, deciding that shutting down the selling those needed items, for all but the Mega Sellers and new accounts popping up with Zero Feedback, was the safest way for eBay to move forward and not be accused of Price Gouging.
It was better to not sell, then to create an effective system to deal with any price gouging.
The trouble is your a small fish in a big sea. So no matter what issues you have with them you'll always be just a number amongst millions of other numbers. They will always generalise rather than work with individual members. The original eBay ethos was to work with the sellers being the most important of the members. Now the pendulum has swung to the buyers. The 'buyers guarantee' has put the sellers at a great disadvantage. Now eBay will almost always side with the buyers, even if they know that it's a scam claim.
I really wish that another seller platform would take over the reins from this now one sided & unfair company...
eBay should have an account with Facebook so we can give our views to them and to talk to them about problems within eBay itself
Thats why they DONT have one! They are not stupid, that platform is not under their control!
There is eBay for Business on Facebook. I remember Lonnie from The Shed got an issue sorted out through them when they got no joy from CS. Not sure if that’s just a service for the US though.
Thanks for the great update. I don't think we'll see much in the line of changes as ebay is in the mindset of do as we say or else you're off the platform. I literally had a three minute conversation with a rep to be told they "Don't want people like me on their platform and find somewhere else to sell"... Can't be much clearer than being told that after 22years as a good clean seller. Guess I'll never know.
Thanks again for sharing. It will be 2 weeks Monday. You're providing more clarity than they are. The reason they gave me don't add up, I am selling items that are no different than any other sellers, from places than are no different as well. I am a top rated seller, with zero case resolved without resolution and a 98.8% positive feedback. I should not be restricted from ever selling on eBay. Thank you!!!
If you initiate communication with eBay, you will get prying eyes on your account. I have several examples of this being the case the last 12 months or so. The first one was last summer during the riots in the US and a bunch of shipments got stuck somewhere in transit. I figured that I had to be proactive, so I called eBay and asked them what to do. They didn't offer much help other than suggesting that I "might" have to refund some the customers. Two hours after this conversation ended they slapped me with a MC011....
Hi Guys,
I've been a buyer and seller on ebay since 2004.
It's always been just a hobby for me, but I'm thinking of giving up selling altogether.
There's just no fun in it anymore. To say that ebay works in mysterious ways is a massive understatement.
Ebay is run by algorithms not people, and the algorithm will always win out.
"Computer says no" has never been better demonstrated, and I think I am better off without it.
I don't sell on ebay because there are so many scammers. At a point ebay where siding with every buyer from what I was seeing on forums. This was the reason I didn't continue using it as a selling platform. No fun and out of pocket.
I should have added that ebay tweak the algorithm anytime with a click of a mouse, but sellers can't change their business model, whatever it is to comply with, or react to any changes ebay make because you will never know what changes they have made. You sit there watching dwindling sales spending hours trying to figure it out, but it's an impossible task.
Just trying to enable 2fa / Two Factor Authentication. Did they suggest this on the phone? this should stop unathorised access anyway
bless you both xxx
I’ve had the same my eBay account was hacked 2 years ago I’d never sold anything ever and suddenly I’d sold an expensive camera for £800 ! The buyer contacted me with regards to delivery so I called eBay and they called me back from the states which I was flabbergasted about. It was sorted within 24hrs now I’ve started selling some odds and ends so I can see both sides but always in these incidences they need to be careful in generic letters/emails etc cheers 🍻
the thing is if you're saying eBay is listening to people about security on eBay they are targeting the wrong people like yourselves and other people but they are not targeting the people who are doing multiple listings or companies in china.
Exactly...& all the counterfeit & even dangerous garbage which they refuse to act against. Not to mention all the VAT avoidance...
Hear hear! And the companies that claim to be based in the UK but are really in China, taking advantage of China's minuscule postal costs etc. etc. Have reported so many times but no action is taken.
Good job guys. Well spoken.
shopify definitely worth looking at , it beginning to surpass ebay in usa, aimed more at small scale sellers
Glad you got a response. Your in a fortunate position with ebay watching your videos. But hope they can implement some changes for the better. As I don't feel they listen to us sellers who follow all the rules and do as they ask. When we do have issues and try to speak to them. I know don't feel heard by ebay.
