wasn't about space tbh, I could have put a poptop on it if I needed space. I was originally going to buy a 26ft trailer but this was to recycle and the trailer can be stored on the drive rather than pay 2k a year for a site.
What an interesting fabrication this is! Irrespective of one's personal taste regarding the interior ((like the fixed, low roof) the engineering and fabrication are very neat, and the exterior finish is gorgeous. The ergonomics are good and the children have their own fixed beds, something they wouldn't have in a regular Transporter. For those that say that it's too small, they miss the point that this is exactly what the builder and family wanted, so if they want it different, build it and show it to Channel 4 and see if it makes the cut! Well done to the featured builder and family, your rig is gorgeous!
Just love it, you can't help yourself when it comes to "do it yourself" projects ! It's a great looker inside and outside. Driving down the road in this machine must be a great feeling of accomplishment. Bravo again, oh did I mention that I just love it ?
My neighbour used to have a split screen vw camper and a vw beetle body as a trailer . All painted red and cream and it looked amazing . I like the truck on this but the trailer looks pretty naff to me .
Whoa! Someone has got the stronger genes in this relationship! I'm not entirely sure about the inside, but the work done to the outside of both is great!
I wouldn't say it's the best , there is a guy in uk got a camper van t5 and he has a trailer that he towes which is a converted camper , so he has 2 living spaces
I always love to see the transformations in this programme and this guy has an amazing talent , but to me it's still a bit too cramped. For a couple on their own it's great, but for a family it just doesn't seem big enough. I know that's the point but the kids are going to grow and they'll need more space as they grow bigger, plus think about those rainy days all the family tucked away in here. It's a shame they couldn't have made some kind of extension. Or could they have just got a cheaper caravan and transform it then?
i have no idea what a new caravan costs, but at the end of the day he has created what he wanted on the budget he had available to himself. Well done him. Neighbours must appreciate not having a vehicle scrap yard on the driveway as well. Obviously he could have made it bigger, but presumably not within the funds available to him.
This guy needs to get this set up as a business start up charging people to build custom ones for them then when hes built enough start selling them as completes
I went to a van meeting last year in southport last year and this van was there. Didn't realise it was on George Clarke's amazing spaces. We ended up having a convoy through Blackpool! . Vantastic!😊👍
The two biggest advantages are having proper belted seats for travelling and being able to leave the living area on site. If the kids get into hobbies like mountain biking or kayaking you could build a cargo unit from another van.
George and his favourite word "un-believable!" lol....Certainly different this build, not sure there is any more space than if it was just a bog standard camper van. I guess at least you could leave the living part of the van at the site and drive off if you need to go shopping for supplies etc.
Bro with covid being a thing now, it makes me uncomfortable how that dude laughs literally right into their fucking mouths, i would crack someone if they did that to me in 2021
No its not. I suggest you find out what "knakers yard" actually means. Its a perfect simile. It wont knacker you to find the answer. What woke rubbish. Next there will be objections to describing a color of his van as black.
@@tonemc6047 Im delighted to hear that. I was reacting to how critical the world has become. There are some that would be deadly serious and say the same thing. Good on yeah

@@MrCooperboss very cool!!! Something different and I would mind being behind that camper 👌🏼
Takes room of two campervans and gives room as one campervan. There’s no point in this. There’s massive amount of unused space between the ”vans”
I live on the same road as this fella, 😂 and it sure does turn heads
If he extended the van perhaps another panel with it may be worth it but like most comments he’s only got as much space as a normal t4
It’s not about the room though. If you want lots of room stay in a hotel.
@@Samld1200 A campervan needs enough room. A t4 is a toy that can only survive on a campsite
More space, actually, since there's no front seats.

Obviously this video is made pre covid. You couldn't laugh like that in someone's face any more even if you were Jesus himself..
This makes me miss early wheeler dealers - well, Edd really.
So many negative comments. It's different and sure as hell better than towing a white fiberglass box.
But a fiberglass box is bigger than this.
Unique toy, but for but its unique for good reasons. He didn't really think about the practicalities.
Hgv limitations with miniscule vw space.
In the USA those are called 5th wheel trailers, he did a great job of transforming the junk van into a RV

my mates done a similar thing with a caddy, this guys got a proper truck hitch going on tho haha
This bloke makes a living out of spouting Bellshill.
Have you done any exams surrounding art? 90% is writing utter BS to sell a concept, a concept which in reality is three black lines on a blank canvas.
And makes lots of money.

I must admit the guy has obviously the skills for this kind of thing. I just think it looks ridiculous, without any more space over a normal camper.
Yeah I agree with you here.
Amazing good on ye hop you have many years of fun in it well made well done
Should have just made a proper trailer
A marmite project in my view.
That is absolutely 💥 love it enough to consider doing something similar. Well done on the work, look and inspiring. 👊🏾

Wot Viewer, No need to bring buggery into it ! Its a family show about amazing spaces !
VW Wil love it.
Not alot of room tho. Considering you have 2 transporters
Nope.
He Cut up 2 t4s to make that why not buy a lwb t4
you obviously didn't listen as to why they did it

This dude is wasting time bossin a big rig.
This cat needs yo get busy with designing and fabrication . He's a natural!
Aren't Caravans made of Aluminium and lightweight wood normally?
I bet his mpg is poor with this setup.
Take the running gear and front suspension, cross members ect out of a van and the rest weighs stuff all, not very much weight in a shell.
it would be interesting to find out which insurance company insured this conversion
This is excellent a real head turner, hope to see it one day on my travels
Saw this today "in the flesh".... It's a monster and it's great 👊
Conversion level Master👍
Journalism level ground zero👎
Has that presenter’s face always been that... square?
No, he's gained a lot of weight in the last few years.
Nothing wrong with his face 🤨
Did you see the state of the welding? That is down right dangerous
It’s not a caravan it’s a fifth wheel.
That is supa fabbo mr speeece 😎😁
I'd be putting a rooftop tent on there for more space!
Thats the next upgrade.
Yeah they need more space
Love the Autobot logo :)
As a VW fanboy I just love it
.....I use to watch his shows but I fed up with him lunging at all the woman which took part in the house builds or conversions shows.................
Maybe that explains why no wifey in the fam time at the end. Good for you. I stopped watching David Letterman for the same reason. Perverts. Too bad.
Once turned a car into a caravan (the rolling shell was free). When parked up it just looked like a modded car. Why? For fun really
Why?
@@adriancaldwell for fun and to see if I could. The rolling shell was free from a friend n destined for the scrapheap anyway
I love Chris's camper van❤❤❤
Looks dreadful
It looks cool I have to say but the B+E combination concept already exists for over 15 years in the Netherlands !!
As evil boxes of plastic death go this is pretty cool. I know it’s metal but it’s the same concept. Still only the same space as in a t4 or t5 tho
I have to say these tv architect pundit personalities talk really talk a lot of bullshit.
Don't watch it then.

The two biggest advantages are having proper belted seats for travelling and being able to leave the living area on site. If the kids get into hobbies like mountain biking or kayaking you could build a cargo unit from another van.
Or you could use the pickup truck, there still seems to be space in the back of it

I wonder if all those mods are declared to the insurer?

Wish I had that much spare cash

Oooh I love that.
Probably the most underwhelming and disappointing thing I've seen to date ..the idea is good but reality is pointless
Just love it
Hideous
WTF crap van
That is fabulous! Extremely creative. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💯

Anyone else unable to find the full episode on the website??
It starts next week, this is a preview.
