- Ketchikan, Alaska is our final stop on our cruise with Holland America's Koningsdam along the inside passage. We give you a walking tour of the town of Ketchikan along the bay and up Creek St. to walk the Married Mans Trail to Dollys House.
Dolly's House is a historic attraction in Ketchikan, Alaska. It was the former residence of Dolly Arthur, a well-known and colorful figure in Ketchikan's history. Dolly Arthur, whose real name was Thelma Copeland, was a madam who operated a brothel in the early to mid-20th century.
Today, Dolly's House is a museum and a popular tourist attraction in Ketchikan. The house has been preserved to give visitors a glimpse into the past and a better understanding of the town's history during the Gold Rush era. It features various artifacts, furnishings, and memorabilia from that time, providing insight into the unique history of the region.
While Dolly's House may not be suitable for all audiences due to its historical connection to the brothel, it offers a fascinating perspective on the history and culture of Ketchikan and the people who lived there during a bygone era. Ketchikan is a cool place. Dolly's place was interesting, glad you had put up the writeups when the lady was talking, she was very fast. Another great video, folks! That looked like an eagle in a tree to me. Ketchikan looks like a fun town and I would have to agree with Ron that the cruise is a "sample platter" that gives you ideas of where to visit in the future. I have to say that I have never had a hankering to do a big ship tour like you are doing but you are making it tempting to change my mind LOL!!
LOL! I told you it took all these years to get Ron to go so I had to plan it just right in hopes that he will enjoy it. Next week is the wrap up and you may be interested in what he says. Looks like a wonderful trip. We had a great time exploring Ketchikan. We also went on the Ketchikan Wilderness and Crab Fest Tour. We went on a crab boat to see them catch crab and saw so many eagles. At the end of the tour we had fresh crab, corn on the cob, homemade blueberry pie and a cold Alaskan Beer. It's was so good! Glad you guys had the best time. Happy and safe travels.

I think I liked the port at Ketchikan the most because you just pull in, and you have all those colorful buildings. I really like the tour of Dollys house, hearing her history was great! Ketchikan was where I had my first and last experience of zip lining 😅
We knew we would enjoy this town it was interesting and quite a bit to walk around and see. That sounds like quite a story if it was your first and last I am scared to ask I already have a hard time doing it but want to do a zip line once or twice for the channel. @justramblinaround 😆 🤣 I had trouble with stopping. Everything else was fine, stopping, well... not so much. I kept stopping too short, so I would have to pull myself up to the platform backward. So I decided it was better to just run into the tree on the platform, less work 😆

OK then, now that lady can talk. I’m glad you put what she was saying cause I wouldn’t have understood. 😂😂. Yes, it’s fun to see the salmon jump up like that. We saw one in the Kinea (sp) Penninsula where they would jump up rainbow waterfall. Married Man Trail was funny. I want to do a cruise again some day, but it’s not high on Bills list. The dance party looked like so much fun.
This was a great little town and it has been a really fun cruise. Yes she was a very interesting tour guide and loves what she is doing! You both should cruise again and yes Alaska was perfect for our first cruise.

Funny that you guys said you regret not doing an excursion. Our experience, we somewhat regret doing an excursion. We did a sea kayaking excursion. And while it was amazing, it took up the entire day and we did not even make it into Ketchikan. The Norwegian Bliss docked 10 mi outside of the city, so we never even got to see that beautiful town.
It is so good to hear everyone's different experiences I think we for sure picked the right town cause when we walked around Skagway we really only needed an hour or two. We loved Ketchikan it was cute. Can't wait to watch more of your videos! We are getting closer and closer in deciding our next cruise! Join us next week and let us know what you recommend! What a cute town! Do you know if there are RV parks there? Dolly’s was very entertaining lol! The orange party looked fun. We both noticed on this episode that you both have very blue eyes! No idea why it stuck out so much this time lol! Looking forward to next weeks final day at sea and what Ron’s final thoughts are.
Ron's final thoughts will be next week. We both have blue eyes I have noticed depending on the lighting and what we wear it sometimes stands out. It has been probably the top comment to me for most of our videos I am surprised you haven't noticed. I think it is cause we are outside in the sun so much. Yes I have heard of an RV park just a little drive away but it is like boondocking it was just recently in Endless Adventures. Ron and I actually sing the fun song Burt and Dolly sing together and since starting this channel I changed the words around and Ron and I are Just Ramblin around in my version of the song.
