20 years ago Jonas Kaufmann sang Mozart with his beautiful musicality and squillo. Great cast. Groissböck is a fantastic baryton. ❤
Vesselina Kasarova is beyond any praise ❤❤❤ At her very best of beauty and vocal performance
若每天能欣賞到此高水準歌劇那將是每日一大驚喜與幸福。
Vesselina Kassarova was a great Sesto. Stunning. Great performance from all artists and staging. My favourite is still the one from 2017 in Salzburg with Currentzis and Marianne Crebasse as Sesto. That just gave me the chills. This one is second to that. Love it.
All of Mozart’s music is comfortable to the ear and to the mind, and quench and moisturize the dryness of the soul
GREATEST PERFORMANCE 🎉🎉🎉
Wonderful!!! ♥
Wunderbar ...........

This is one of Mozart's greatest recitatives❕️
It's my favorite part. I like Kasarova's unique sound ... but Yvonne Minton ... is the untouchable in this recitative.
Why the spoken dialogue and not in recitative? Was this the original version?
@kaloarepo :: I'm sure you must have your answer by now ... but I'm a buttinsky.
This opera originally had spoken dialogue. It is very slow and somewhat boring. I can't say 'Y' Mozart use this operatic option.
I have heard the opera without the recitatives. It moved much faster and was more intense.
I guess it's a matter of taste ?
Google has some good historical information about this opera.
The above conductor wanted to remain true to Mozart's original idea.
I think the opera is one of Mozart's best - some of the arias are absolutely outstanding like "Part ! Parto! ma tu ben mio" where the music seems to describe every emotion known to man and ends with the absolute clincher "Oh gods what power you have granted to beauty!" The clarinet obbligato is sublime! By Mozart's time opera seria was an outdated genre and it's amazing what Mozart was able to do with an obsolete art form. The first setting was by Caldara to a Metastasio text which was modified for the Mozart version. The Holy Roman empress for whose coronation (with her husband too of course) the opera was composed in Prague is supposed to have hated the work as being too German.(Porcheria tedesca). The events described are partially historical involving a n affair the Roman emperor had with a Jewish princess(Berenice ) during the Jewish war. He subsequently rejected her instead of marrying her as promised because of the anti foreigner sentiment among the Romans. It's a bit like what happened to Cleopatra half a century or so earlier.@@cliffgaither
Just Google the Opera and you'll get your answer immediately instead of waiting for people. Let's start with commissioned to compose the just Google the Opera and you'll get your answer immediately instead of waiting for people. Mozart was commissioned to compose an "opera seria" (a specific genre.. Google for definition) for the coronation of Leopold II.
He didn'
I've known this opera from way back and love it but I've never seen it produced with spoken dialogue before instead of recitatives - this is unusual for Italian language operas and I was merely wondering if there had been a precedent for this - I doubt if opera seria had spoken dialogue but German singspiels do like "Magic Flute."@@davidwelch8288
如此高水準的歌劇演員若能加上中文字幕定會超被加分與加倍受歡迎。
何其有幸發現此節目。感恩之餘 希望此節目永不中斷。
I think that the inner values of Mozart’s musical greatness have been partly missed in this Wagner-like performance.
Kaufmann no canta, sino ladra, aúlla, gime, balbucea y gorgotea. El resto del elenco es formidable, aunque los productores de esta versión podrían haberse tomado la molestia de subtitular. Como sea, graciarspor subir este video.
The balance in the audio is very strange: Kassarova voice for example is barely audible.
This was a year before JK’s big breakthrough in the Metropolitan as Alfredo in La Traviata.
Inmense Veselyna Kazarova
isabello bywater of course mistakes rome for wolfsschanze. how exitering - wow!
Too bad the Italian subtitles don’t work. The transcription is terrible.
DVD with perfect subtitles available...
