Viva Salzburgo!
Mozart composed wonderful recitatives. Everything he composed were.magical. Wonderful production but that fellow in the beginning was very annoying. While I prefer that operas adhere to the original staging, more or less, the minimalism of this production was acceptable. to me.
I believe Mozart would have been very content with this production; this spectacle and pantomime were what he intended. My only major distaste with it was the strange ending during the ballet... is it too difficult to maintain a happy ending of an opera seria?
I think it's there to indicate that Idamante is going to be traumatized after the events of the opera? Idk it really jolted me and I'm not really a fan of it because I agree, opera seria are kind of designed to have happy endings and after several minutes of Idamante and Ilia being cute I wasn't ready for that very sudden change in mood.
The La Scala production, also in 2006, was also very good. The year, as the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth saw many productions, although I doubt it that not a year passes without Mozart products.
What would Mozart say about this production of Idomeneo? How awful. The way it has been modernized has taken away from the beauty of the opera. To me this production has put Mozart to shame. All I can say is, this production to me is very amateurish. I just don't get it. The only good part is, the soloists are very good.

Nice words. My regrets for saying it in english...
This opera anticipates The Marriage of Figaro so beautifully.
2006 was the the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birthday and they performed all of Mozart's operas including the little known ones.

Thanks for being a Spanish person commenting on a German opera written in Italian with a Greek subject, posted by a Russian. :-) Viva Europa. :-)
Ópera Is universal
Very nice production and some great singing
Anja Harteros is incredible!
SPLENDIDO!
I'm in love with the Coro at 126:30
Is it on purpose that Idamante looks like David Bowie?
😂😂😂😂😂
1:27:40 I came here for this bop and this bop alone 🤸🏿♀️

I don't know. Maybe you are both right but I like all of this production. Even the ending... Is all perfect

It's a pity that the tenor distroyed this otherwise impeccable production.
Idamante is outstanding though

imagine comparing this opera to 2 Disney movies
Bruttissima regia 😮😮😮😮😮😮 orribileeeeeee
Nice singing, but Mozart would have been appalled at the stark, ugly staging.
So, you have a direct link to his spirit and can speak for him?
So far the best production of 21st century and you say ugly staging... We should be living in diferent galaxies...
