Tons of sequels? Gimmicks? Mario isn't a fan of that.

There is one difference though: Mario in space actually worked.
haha, very clever.
I feel that is a tad unfair when we have not even got actual gameplay of cod in space yet...
It is like if the reveal trailer for galaxy got a million dislikes and people start flaming about this is the death of mario.
+Gittons Xv amen

Gittons Xv you had cod ghost but i do agree, I'll give Infinite Warfare a chance, if anything I get MW remastered out of it.

Gotta say, both bros are making good points. And this is coming from a Nintendo fan, mind you.
AG64 It IS true, but to an extent. They're only talking about the main series of games, as opposed to all those spin-offs.
There also isn't a COD role-playing turn-based-combat game... as far as I know.
I think, once you have multiple spinoff series, as in more series in your series than the "main games", you cease to be justified in claiming that the gameplay is rehashed for every single game. Luigi's Mansion series, Mario Party series, Paper Mario series, Mario and Luigi series, Mario Sports series... which ones are the main games again? Is Sunshine one of them? Technically?
AG64 Smash Bros isn't a Mario spinoff.
Kirby Fan It’s a spin-off of basically all of the Nintendo (And a little bit of Sega?) characters.
@@gemmaskylar8264 It was a platform fighter that they put Nintendo models into so the sales pitch would go better. Then the people who gave the okay wanted the characters to stay in.
They didn't make the game as a spin-off of Mario or Zelda or Metroid, they made a weird party game and added those characters in. And at this point, a lot of non-Nintendo gaming icons are being added or have been added to the game. And I would hardly call Smash Bros Brawl or Ultimate a Solid Snake spin-off.
Rather than get salty about anything, may I point out how...tame this video is? No swearing, no death, no blood, no sex, drugs, or alcohol (Not counting the CoD game Luigi was playing). It's a little...disturbing actually.
I know, it's weird. I too was desensitized by all that crudeness... and now the non-crudeness haunts me.
It's a video...i can show my mom...
Well there was the enemies that died when Mario threw the shell at them.
@@Cucumber01 Yeah but usually the deaths are onscreeen so it doesn't count much since we didn't see who died
Fits perfectly how the characters are naturally really

At least it's not EVERY YEAR for Mario.

+Jérôme Levasseur actually good games.
it's dev time has nothing to do with it.
in fact it makes Mario look worse because at least COD had an excuse. If a Mario game has a longer dev time and only a few gimmicks is the best they have, then what's truly the bad game?

if were honest here, mario does do plenty creative changes
mario 64, mario sunshine, super mario galaxy, mario 3d, ect.
True, but the F.L.U.D.D. and Poltergeist 3000 were addressed after Luigi said "well what if people prefer the old way of things and don't like the new direction" for a reason.
Besides, doing almost the same thing as before isn't always bad. After all, as Luigi said, "it's fun."
wordsD Vlogs NSMB2 is still a game where you run, jump, collect shit, and save something/someone from Bowser.
Every Mario Kart game=drive go-karts on tracks
Every Mario Sports game=a real-life sport with a Mario coat of paint.
Still don't see your point.
+Jacob Wells the ORIGIONAL mario 2 is a bunch of different baddies and new guys to play
Mario kart is still a mario game that doesnt fall in your list
Same with mario sports
***** its still creative and it was new
+celebi/shyboo "galaxy just took place in space with a zero gravity thingy"
And featured new gameplay mechanics (granted nothing amazing, but new still) and new level design not featured in a previous Mario and only seen in one other (Galaxy 2). If that doesn't make it new enough then there is not a single game in existence thats at all new or creative
Just wanted to let you guys know, in my head Nintendo saw this and that's why have Odyssey. Thank you.
Legal Variety not to be a wet blanket but super Mario oddssey is going to be one time thing then they going back to their old roots. I mean who seen a sequel to Mario games that were completely new and different. And paper mario, Mario kart, Mario party, and RPG Mario, remake and remaster Mario games doesn't count.
jake and pika fair enough I mean I wouldn't mind another odyssey. It's a good new mix so I wouldn't be opposed to another sequel with different lands and shit
Legal Variety me too but all they do is goes back to their old ways and all those new characters you met in the new games are never going to be seen again which is really disappointed. Cappy is never going to be seen and I would love if they continued with cappy storyline but as all characters in a one off Mario games are or never to be seen again or be killed off from Mario games and is a damm shame they do that.
Legal Variety Odyssey is the same again tbh its good but the same
Nintendo doesn’t listen to their fans so that is highly unlikely.
Actually Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion were awesome
Your Uncle the Engie They mean the super mario bros series not side series like you mentioned
AlphA_Kun No he means the items in the closet. The Poltergust 3000 was in Luigi's Mansion and F.L.U.D.D. was in Super Mario Sunshine.
first game in my mind after seeing fludd was super mario 63 (not 64 , im talking about that flash game) , not mario sunshine
I agree there are a lot of Mario games that were awesome such as New Super Mario Bros too.
Agreed
The difference between Mario and COD:
Mario is played by mostly adults
COD is played by mostly kids
+JGaming that is strangely true ._.
JDMD Yep. Seriously the kids in CoD are stupid and annoying. And rage when you kill them easily.

Seeing mario and luigi getting along is so wholesome
I keep replaying this over and over just to see the background of houses as Mario and Luigi drive by. It's almost like I'm seeing the neighborhood where they live, and that's incredibly interesting.
Reminds me of the houses from the Mother series 😢
I dont remember Mario games ever having DLC...
also its not like Mario has 3D platformers, RPGs, sports games, racing games, and more.
Then allow me to show you the latest Mario Kart. :B
mario kart, mario 64, among many other 3d mario titles, mario and sonic at the Olympic games...
New Super Mario Bros 2 technically has DLC
Mario is still repetitive....Super mario maker was a failure with its troll stages and torture chambers
Mario Kart 8 has 4 DLC stage packs, and there is also smash brothers that has DLC characters.
Honestly, I feel Pokemon is far more similar to CoD than Mario. yea Mario rehashes a lot but has far more spin offs, and multiple play styles (2-D and 3-D). While Pokemon has less spin offs (still some of course), is literally the exact same campaign every game, and only adds new "weapons" (in this case new Pokemon). Honestly the only reason I get new Pokemon games is to keep up with the multiplayer, much like CoD. I still enjoy the single player, but I ultimately forget about it in the long run. Again, just like CoD.
+TheFingerTrapMaster at least pokemon is interesting.
I agree. Mario games are typically yearly but have some sort of unique gameplay mechanic that makes it more than just a new game, while Pokemon does pretty much what you said and add new monsters with nearly the same plot; become pokemon champion while stopping Evil Team along the way.
+TheFingerTrapMaster Wait, what? In what Pokemon is more close than Mario? You can't say that just because the structure is always the same, only the 8 badge 4 elite 1 master is keep. The story change at each time!
And only new "weapon"? OK, but there's a difference between ten new weapon and 5 component. And 100 new weapon, 20 new munition and 30 new component.
For example, the 6G, he have new type, mega-evolution (By the way, why did the 6G didn't even have one Pokemon who can mega-evolve?) tools to assist the trainning for competitions, 2D>3D, aerial battle...
+Jacob Lapsley Unless it's Black/White, where becoming the champion is post-game material. But eh...
I'll stick to Explorers of Sky as my fave Poke game, even if it's a spin-off. It's quite special to me now. I do love Pokemon and I consider myself a fan, but even I got to admit they could do a heck of a ton more. They greatly innovated throughout Gen 1, 2 and 3, and although I love 4 and 5 more in comparison, the amount of changes begin to somewhat drown there. This is easily fixed if the world is more interactable in my opinion (because, area-wise, there are substantial differences in gens that I honestly think are under-utilized), and not just standard-text NPCs. That would make any Pokemon game worth buying, and they really kind of are still. CoD wasn't that hated upon either when it didn't had that many releases afterall.
darnage l 3D > 2D there fixed
Face it: this is true for almost every franchise nowadays. pokémon, Mario, CoD, you name it.
not metroid. metroid is too good for that (minus other m)
The Elder Scrolls? ENTIRELY new world every time, with more than just a few minor gameplay tweaks.
Same for Mario, Zelda, Cod (I would imagine, don't know for sure), Xenoblade... New levels/worlds are a given for every new game, and new mechanics are introduced or refined all the time. And I'm not saying that no effort was put into it (speaking of COD, the newest one was in development for 3 years), but it's extremely rare that a sequel completely changes the foundation of a franchise. COD will stay an FPS game and Elder Scrolls will remain a massive, awesome open world RPG series. That's why it's pointless to complain about these things; it's the task of a sequel to take what people liked about the previous game and improve on it in whatever way the devs thinks will make it better.
and sonic

@@jacktheomnithere2127 If you bothered to to follow the details of the DLC more closely, you would've known about something like this in this Gamespot article.
"Free updates are planned for the same day as the launch of each expansion, and these updates will enable players who don't own the DLC to acquire the Pokemon added in each through methods like trading. This means that a player with the Isle of Armor expansion can catch the newly added Pokemon there and trade them with friends who don't own the expansion but have downloaded the update, giving them a chance to expand their collections."

+Revanaught for real though, if most DLC were calzones, the world would be a better place.
+Dorkly Dang. now I'm hungry.
I get the irony of "people want inovation/change" together with FLUDD, since many people disliked sunshine because of it.
But Luigi's mansion is commonly considered a masterpiece, so no sure what the Poltergust is doing there.
+H enryuuki Yeah people like it, but it's still only gotten two releases thus far, so it's still a pretty underused spin off.
Yeah luigi's Mansion was the shit, that plus melee and spyro made my childhood
+H enryuuki Luigi's mansion was good, but it really didn't sell good just because it was different (which is what we asked for in the first place)
I liked Fludd as a character. It was similar to how Zelda games have a companion.
LooneyBoy Don't need to convince me pall, I loved Sunshine and FLUDD. (as well as Luigi's mansion)
I really hope we can go back to levels that actually feel like part of a bigger world like in sunshine for the next big 3D mario.
No more random strings of platformy segments that happen to share a common theme like in most galaxy levels please.
+Dorkly To be honest, this applies to Sonic too. (I think)
+Hedgefox it applies to a lot of games! and that's all okay, games are fun and having more games is a wonderful problem for us to have.
+Hedgefox Actually, Sonic is the exact opposite. They go too far in the other direction, by making each game so drastically different from the last that it deters fans of the franchise. Gotta find that perfect medium. It can be hard, but can be done.
No cause they at least try #werehog
+Hedgefox it applies to every game that has more than one game with very few exceptions inside franchises
+Dorkly STOP BEING OPTIMISTIC THIS IS THE INTERNET

*EVERY SINGLE SONIC FAN WHO BITCHES ABOUT THE NEW GAMES!!!*
That's because almost every single Sonic game (bar the 2D Classics) changes in some way that makes it either worse, strange, or just using a completely new engine that one has to get used to.
I think people would be okay with more games that controlled like Colors and/or Generations but instead they experiment and we end up with Lost World and Boom. Not that there is a problem with experimentation but considering Sonic's track record it isn't the best idea.
+finalformsonic well, boom was handled by big red button and not sega....
And BRB had no idea what to do with sonic
thecommenter67 While that is true, what has Sega done in the meantime while BRB did their thing? Sonic Runners and Sonic Dash 2.
the other game play styles are mostly good.
rush formula worked.
adventure worked.
unleashed worked.
it's just ones like boom and labyrinth that have utterly failed.
it's more a problem of people being nostalgia whores who dislike change.
though i agree sonic has a bad track record.
sonic meerkat Its not really fully nostalgia though, considering how the Hedgehog engine evolved and was thrown out the window for Lost World almost right after they had it down in Generations.
"DLC? I thought we didn't do that?"

Oh look, they acknowledged the existence of super mario sunshine.
I can't wait to play Call of Duty Karts, Call of Duty Party, Call of Duty Soccer/Tennis/Golf, Call of Duty Maker, Call of Duty Galaxy...I'm so exited!
I hate that the New Super Mario Bros series is basically the Call of Duty of Mario. DS and Wii were amazing, then 2 and U were basically the same with minor differences, hell even the music is basically the same with like a modified instrument set. :(
There are arguments for both sides though, I mean look at Mario Party 9, that's what happens when you do a bad job at taking chances as they changed the core game mechanic of going around the board. I mean it's like changing CoD to a Third Person Shooter, sure it's still a game where you shoot people but CoD is known for being in first person, it'd throw off several fans and is just a weird change to begin with.
LarryLLazer Older games were only harder back then because they were so short. They had to make it difficult say that the person who bought it, got their moneys worth. Nowadays, the games are large and has more focus on level design and allowing the player to have fun, rather than enemy placement.
Yeah But They Were Still Fun Games... [I Liked 2 Better Then U However...]
Excuse me! The 2DS is far more advanced. You actually have game icons in there. The DS is basically one menu where you tap a button to play one game: The cardthridge game that you insert in a slot. Also, the Wii U is actually mostly from the 3DS. The 3DS and 2DS are very similar. It's just a few small tweaks. But they are FAR better than the DS.

I think they're recycling those games for the newer generations (of people). It'd be nice if they made a series with a plot, though
CoD games lifespan are meant for 1 year only. every year a new Cod comes out.
Ben Bibel Well with Mario they have like one game in 2D per generation and one game in 3D (and 2D and 3D platforming is very different)...CoD is yearly
Dat Cool Guy I like black ops 3 . But not ww2
Funny how, when you think about it, Mario's criticism can be applied to EVERY video game franchise out there.
It doesn't apply to Battlefield! Battlefield changed like... in the... uhh... Shut up.
XD
They changed the way old people think of video games.
I mean the Legend of Zelda goes off in a bunch of different directions. Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Link Between Worlds, Four Swords, Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild. Each brought new inventive ideas to the franchise while maintaining the spirit of the series.
Plenty of examples to disagree with that. The Witcher series though ended (at least for now) is wildly different in gameplay between the 3. Kingdom hearts has gone multiple routes with gameplay and story (to put it lightly.) Assassin's Creed has taken some wild rides every now and again (between the years of the same but slightly better.) Digimon and Megaman also have a pretty diverse history and route forward with games. And before mentioning Nintendo's other IP's like Metroid, LoZ, hell you could even argue Kid Icarus is pretty diverse.
And those are just some AAA properties I could think of. I mostly stick to indie or AA level games.
I think sonic does some different things every now and then like how hes had so many racing games and a party game...? Wait whe- and a tennis game- ok this is getting outta ha- A FUCKING GOLF GAME- ok i get it sonic is kinda the idea stealer of mario but i think mania was a unique blast to the plast
It's a safe bet to say 90%-95% of video game series out there just make the same game over and over again.
+gexisunderrated you know why? because people flip out when developers try something different in the franchise
Say that to SEGA
Except for cable they leant why make games when you can buy them

How about No Yes and no. They're not always about the plot which has been used to death over and over (like it or not), but it's comparable since they usually use the same gimmick but add new features. Still love Mario more than Call of Duty but yeah, Dorkly has a point.

Mario: *complains that people aren't taking chances and trying new things*
Mario is missing, Mario's time machine and hotel Mario: hi
Mario’s face has been plastered on almost every kind of genre. It’s almost impossible to get tired of any of it if there’s always something new to jump on to.
The only thing that annoys me about COD is the ten year old fanbase. But fanbases usually annoy me so whatever.
I went to a friend's house and his kid was there, and he's like "Will! Play COD with me!" So I ended up playing COD with this 10 year old kid for like 3 hours and I only beat him a couple times, but he was cool to play with.
I went to a kids' birthday party at another friend's house, played a Halo tournament with the kids and had to walk away because I couldn't take all the screaming 5-10 year old kids every time someone died. "AAAHHH WHO KEEPS KILLING ME" that gets annoying.
That's just personal experience though, I can always choose to not play with kids. Or if I play such games online I can turn the mic off. Easy as that.
THATS the parents fault if they LET their 10 year old children play games aimed for 18 year olds actually NOT teenagers...the fact that all the shit in these games is thought to be appropriate for a 13 year old....is just sickening...how is a man BURNING ALIVE IN A FUCKING DEUCE AND A HALF APPROPRIATE FOR A TEENAGER!?
I feel the same way. My cousins are like 10 and 11 and they play Mortal Kombat 10. Plus I don’t like hanging out with them.
Mario is right. Games should start taking different avenues and trying new things. Everybody loves that.
Isn't that right, Sonic?
Buddy...?
*Pokes dead hedgehog with a stick*
Yeah, _this guy_ knows what I'm talking about.
Trying new things and adding unique ideas is basically what sonic does, and most of the time it flops on its face.
0:36 Luigi just explained the Sonic Fanbase😂
call of duty does the same thing as before: everyone hates it.
call of duty does something new: everyone hates it.
Call of Duty Infinite Warfare looks awesome, pity I don't have a PS4.
Thomas Ruth if you get one, get for honor. It's brilliant.
I disagree with this, Mario changes far more than CoD ever has.
+Enker Zan
Still the same shit.
+TheNerdyResponder Mario maker, Luigi's mansion. Super mario sunshine, Mario party, mario kart, paper mario, super mario RPG, mario and luigi the list goes on!
Change doesn't even actually matter, as long as the content is fun, I don't care if COD mario releases every month
+Enker Zan Like what?
True
"Nothing but a BANG BANG BANG over and over again just a mindless violence"
Splatoon: are we a joke to you?!
Mario roasting his games without realizing
Im gonna say it...
Both Cod and Mario never stop being popular because they are great series. Both fun and enjoyable and loved by many.
The 2D games, sure.
The 3D ones, not really.
most of the 3d games still fall under the trope of bland story and visuals that should have stopped after 64 i mean really stop making generic levels nintendo.
@@stashallemagne4488 The amount of stupidity in you is insane. You think pokio is bland, wow 😑.

If gamers do get bored of a certain game franchise, there's still tons of other games to choose from and have different little twists. Some people settle for certain franchises, some people explore the library. Maybe you prefer Megaman platforming then Mario. Maybe you prefer different puzzles from Brain Lord than Link to the Past. Before Mario was reaching to different Galaxies, there were different Galaxies in so many different games that existed. I don't see why people should care about how much the franchise makes or whatever in comparison to games, and just play what works for them. It's not like you have a stake of the shares on their profit, so what does it matter?
Everyday people have the tools to make their own vision known as well. Just have fun, share what you like, and be done with it. If you hate it, cool, if you don't, cool. But if you cared about the games you play, you'd treat them better than giving them a sale's number in the first place.
But hey, that's just me. You have a mind of your own, y'know.
I can tell, Pokemon Sword makes me go "Yo Kai Watch 2 was more fun than this."
Dont get me wrong, Sword is alright, but, it's quite meh once you've completed both the main game and DLC
Surely no one will be offended by this right?
+SpriteDuel we're not familiar with anyone ever getting offended, especially not on the internet.
+Dorkly it rarely happens
+Dorkly about six months later and Luigi saying what if no one likes new things in COD and he gets it right...
Im offended at your joke of how easily people can get offended...oh wait...
heh heh right??!! *sweats nerviously*
I would say "aw luigi you playing cod again, go play battlefield instead."
yeah, go and get manipulated by EA
Why would one play a game developed by EA?
Glad someone mentioned it. I can only jump on so many goombas before boredom sets in
Its funny that Cod is actually slowly changing more and more
+GamingJar Changing to what? Halo wannabe number 5?
Sarcasm aside its slowly changing sure but more or less it does tend to be the same kinda thing on repeat, although it was only really "bad" on repeat for black ops 2 given that half the maps were "re-imaginings" of old maps meaning just re-skins. Cods fine as a series just never been my thing and the only ones I played were BO 1 and 2 for reference.
GamingJar yeh, they're slowly turning into crappy halo rip offs
COD: remains the same every year but is still successful.
Mario: remains the same every year but is still successful.
Assassin's creed: remains the same every year and is still successful. (minus Unity since it was actually different and it flopped)
Sonic: tries to change things almost every year and almost every game is a complete flop.
So basically when they try to change the games it goes way downhill.
comparing 1990's level game design of sonic games to COD and assassins creed is not a fair comparison. Also mario has tons of spin offs and doesnt release 1 main series every year. Very dissapointed with sega tbh.
same with pokemon...
Matheus Montenegro well it still is the same game every time, and even without the spin-offs there are more games of pokemon then COD
+Sharp Thanos there is Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, World At War, Black Ops, Black Ops 2, Black Ops 3, Ghosts, Infinite Warfare, and Call of Duty WWII came out recently... and thats just naming a few, so saying that Pokemon has more games than COD isnt entirely accurate or true. they're even coming out with Black Ops 4 within the next 2 years or so that will include a Battle Royale style multiplayer mode and map to go along with it... so the next person that says COD doesnt try anything new, point them towards Black Ops 4 multiplayer.
Not all Sonic games flop, it's more of a mixed bag for some people. The Sonic fandom want different things. Some want ambitions games like Adventure games, Unleashed, & Lost World, while others want simple games like the classic games, Colors, or Forces
Super Mario RPG and Mario Party would like a word with this video...
He is talking about the main series games
thecommenter67 But those 2 game (series) prove that, at the very least, Super Mario has branched out at some point, unlike Call of Duty.
+Robert Jay How about a different spin-off series that doesn't already have 13 entries...
+Robert Jay
Don't forget Mario Kart, and the Mario Sports games. Why even bother changing the main franchise if there are tons of spin-offs?
I’m going to come back to this video every year on the same date
6 of October
Huh, I actually liked Mario Sunshine.
Same. Biggest downside was viewing mechanics, but a lot of games worked the same way with free cam at the time
Ea: *I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that*
marios single plqyer campaign lasts more than 4 hours tho :^)
That's because that's what it's centered around. Cod is centered around multiplayer.
Mainly because they make the last 5 levels impossible as fuck to beat i still can't beat champions road. :(
+James Thomas I barely managed to beat that once while teamed up with a friend. I can't see myself going back to complete it with all five characters considering I had to depend on Rosalina's and Peach's floaty jumps to stay alive.
I love how u played it in the skit
Mario has a larger colour palette, has a lot less blood and has much better plots overall.

This sounds like Sega and Nintendo arguing
You're comparing Mario's diverse and challenging levels to COD??
***** COD doesn't have unique challenging levels. Mario may have the same concept story wise but at least the gameplay is unique. Also Mario games there are a ton of spin off that have more unique controls and gameplay: Mario Galaxy, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine. Again, how does that compare to COD?
+MoonLiteWolfPro hes making a joke. but Mario can only make these spin offs and new levels because of its Genre. CoD is an FPS that tries to take place in the real world or near future, its hard to make FPS games diverse. Mario also takes place in a fictional world where as CoD takes place on our Earth, its the same with Halo as Halo takes place in outer space giving them more leniency
+MoonLiteWolfPro I think you completely missed the point and jokes of the video.
Mario 1 is the base. Mario Lost Levels added wind. Mario 3 added a handful of new powerups and level gimmicks. Mario World added Yoshi, a powerup, and the forest level trope.
3D Mario: Mario 64 was the base. Super Mario Galaxy was essentially that but with the spin attack and space gimmicks. Super Mario 3D Land pulled back to old roots and only really added the 3D gimmick. Super Mario 3D World borrowed plenty of old game assets, added a couple of new ones too.
And let's not get started on New Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion got mixed receptions, ranging from the people who find this weird for being a Mario game(especially since Luigi's Mansion was scarce in platforming), and people who love the idea.
The point is that 90% of the main Mario games (not counting the many sports, RPG, and party games, which are completely different subjects) are about you going to fight Bowser and rescue the Princess or something else (such as Sprixies or, well, the galaxy) sometimes by collecting Stars/Shine Sprites. Its essentially the same thing with new gimmicks or reused gimmicks. That was the point/joke of the video.
***** I didn't make the video dude...
MoonLiteWolfPro Nobody said you did
That super Mario sunshine reference made this entire video. New direction, and people loved it. Great video, great example
When Luigi said, "Well what if people like the old ways and don't like the new direction" all I could think about was Halo. :/
Kaleb Searle and futuristic cod
As much as I love Mario, even I have to admit that I feel that Nintendo has been playing a bit too safe with the Mario Platformers lately...Galaxy 2, 3D Land, 3D World & don't even get me started on the NSMB series... I seriously hope Nintendo does something drastically different for the next Mario game on the NX. I really think now it's the time for Nintendo to go to another direction for the next Mario game, just like what they did with Sunshine & Galaxy 1. As mush as I love Galaxy 2 & 3D World, I rather see something new & different for the next game instead of a sequel to a previous game...
+Jonnathan Sosa I'm not sure, 3D Land and 3D World changed things up enough in terms of control and presentation.
It wasn't just rehashing itself or just copying Mario 64 or Sunshine or Galaxy. Come to think of it, there are a lot of 3D Mario games that break the formula and introduce new concepts.
A lot of what you're complaining about is a sequel to something everyone said was different and broke away from Mario.
3D World is almost entirely it's own beast in comparison to 3D Land.
Oh yeah and to address +davidabeats
A Mario game with plot?
Weelll... they'd have to give Mario a character first.
Mario has never really had a character in the first place, he's just kinda there.
It's mostly just "Ya hoo!" and "Wa haa!" all the time.
Could it work?
As long as they don't try and make it something dark and edgy.
And I'm talking about the Sonic Adventure approach. No, just no.
Something simple and colorful. That's Mario.
+Jonnathan Sosa I agree with you, even tho I loved Galaxy had a sequel but I see your point. I think Nintendo might create something new later... Nintendo just need time, and they could. But in 2D Games maybe not. Since 1995 Nintendo haven't made a 2D Mario game until 2006 when they made NSMB. So I think Nintendo can only think of new graphics to those games, and each 2D Mario Game might be a NSMB game. Nintendo maybe can make a clash from a variety of 2D Mario Games and combine them. To make a new game. I mean besides there's mario games which aren't created by Nintendo but they are Amazing like:
Mario 63, SMBX or Mario Forever.
+Jonnathan Sosa hey nintendo brought USA out of the Video game crash, and brought back the 2D platforming genre after most games became 3D
+Jonnathan Sosa While SMG2 is my favorite Mario game, I have to say, 3D Land and World felt extremely phoned in. There didn't seem to be any heart in those games (same goes for NSMBU, which, while I enjoyed the DS and Wii versions, is no longer "New"...). I hope they make something along the lines of the Galaxy games and SM64 next time. It's been a while since we've had a real 3D game from Mario, so I hope the NX delivers big.
Princess Jennifer I mean I love a 3D Mario game with that typical Mario 64 charm of collecting stars, it makes it fun. 3D World would be in my top 10 if it had the Mario 64 charm instead of being an each level.
Ignoring the fact that mario doesn't do the same thing over and over and has done everything from construction work to rpg's to educational games
eggzacly The only thing Mario hasent done is a first person shooter and thats what metroid is for
And Splatoon, for a light-hearted shooter.
Metroid isn't an FPS.
+SodaMining They should have said Metroid Prime
he's also done racing games, a drawing game, and wasnt "Mario Is Missing" a point and click game with time travel
The DLC part really put me sad , remembering the past...
See, that doesn’t work, because people actually LIKE Luigis’ mansion, enough for it to get 2 sequels.
Yea, but for every good idea there are also bad ones. Like how they keep trying to change Paper Mario, even though they should just follow the formula of 64 and TTYD.
@@mikevisby8744 I agree with you (though I think super paper mario is a VERY good game, I will fight you to the DEATH on this.) however that’s not what I’m saying, and paper mario is a bad example because every game after and even before TTYD was not on the gamecube. In this video they make the baseless claim that most Gamecube games sucked, even though quite honestly that doesn’t really mean much because I’m sure if you look you’ll find that the majority if games IN GENERAL suck, same with movies and tv shows. That’s what makes the minority that actually try so GOOD, especially on the gamecube that has some of the most critically acclaimed games ever! Sonic adventure 2, Luigis’ mansion, Pikmin, and the list goes on. So what I’m saying is, the claim that both mario and CoD have “a bunch of awful spin-offs.” If I’m quoting it correctly, doesn’t work because the example they use is a game that although they may not like personally, still has TONS of fans, me included, and is critically acclaimed, and technically speaking, actually a really well made game.
New super Mario bros
New Super Mario bros Wii
New super Mario bros 2
New super Mario bros U
Spot the difference
Um, the end parts are all different. Can't fool me buddy
NSMB and NSMB Wii are good, 2 is OK, and U is trash.
There you go.
Mario's not wrong, every Call of Duty since Modern warfare has been basically the same game. Mario games try new things all the time, and that's awesome
Edit: I'm not saying every mario game is better than every call of duty to be clear, the new super mario bros games for example are basically the same game. I'm just reflecting on my opinion of how the COD franchise fell off in recent years
gun game, infection and ZOMBIES didn't exist in cod4.
neither did AI multiplayer opponents...In fact, I dont think THOSE were around until Black Ops I
changes an itty bit and nintendo people be like OMG you can do all this awesome -_-
The delusion in these comments is insane.
The thing is Mario actually DOES do different things, gameplay wise at least.
Call of Duty: It's basically Activision's cash cow today and they're literally pumping out new games every year with little to nothing new.
Want a new mario game? One with "new" and "Innovative" ideas?
How about a mario game.... *Based on the SMB movie.*
I say we stoop to the last resort and get it out of the way!
The main question is: Would the Genre be Adventure or Horror?
So I take it it'd be marketed as a horror game.
+Seanpmurphy2009
They will market it ad Luigi's Mansion 3.
NEVER!!!!
I guess Mario didn't realize the similarity between his game and Call Of Duty. 😐
Thats the gag, the Fans of various franchises say that the games of the other franchises are bad and exactaly equal,
As a long time cod fan Mario I can tell you they do not just release the same game over and over, all cod games are similar but not the exact same game.
But not as cursed as CoD mobile
They all suck and anyone that still supports CoD is a loser.
@@mi5tafreemanyou’re the loser pal not people that enjoy a game. That ridiculous statement you made shows your complete ignorance
Mario would have a point if he were talking about sports games (Madden and MLB the Show specifically). Literally the same game every year with updated rosters.
