easports uses the worst engine for sports gaming. it doesnt matter what extra animations they add to this game it will always have the same legacy issues with the frostbite engine. players falling down like woody on toy story clipping through each other, with no field awareness or physics, has been going on for 6 years straight. theres no way for them to fix it until they take some of their billions of dollars and make a dedicated engine for football 😩its 2024 and they still use the same 5 yard spacing unrealistic juke moves and spins/everyone still looks like their running on air with the same run style animation for every player outside of lineman😩 the presentation and graphics are beautiful but the game will always play arcadeish due to this engine😩 we need a real physics/simulation football game and this isnt it😩
I honestly believe it’s best to play by yourself to keep the game somewhat realistic and for fun. This is an issue. But at least the CPU won’t run backwards lol lol. I’m still happy with this game as a foundation to college football. Yes there are still things to be fixed tho.
The cpu honestly is so annoying sometimes as well. Especially when the AI acts like AI. Snapping perfectly onto tackle angles and playing perfect coverage defense is really aggravating. If EA is shooting for realistic football, how is it that the AI plays every play perfectly?

If youre watching a football game live and see a quarterback scramble from the 1 yd line back to the 30 and attempt a pass, you would be screaming at the TV because you couldn't belive what you were seeing. But in EA "simulation football," its the norm. EA, please explain this logic.

It's gotta be the engine, either Frostbite and/or their AI logic code. We'd typically get a new engine with console generations, but I don't think we will anymore. We need to get football games onto another engine like Unreal.

It's cool having a college atmosphere even if it is half baked.. but this game isn't even as good as Madden gameplay wise. The aggressive motion blur hiding the unstable framerates. Still have 7 hours on a trial for college football 25. I hate giving EA any money but I love football so much even to a fault sometimes 😅

Nano Blitz is not a real football term. Its a gaming term. When you dont have the ablity as a user to react and are at the mercy of the games animations - thats an issue. Thus the term nano - from "nanosecond". If you understand the branching of animations then you can see the exact second the arm goes up - and the user is given control - he is branched into a sacked because of how close the lineman is - and the play is over.

A lot of y'all just want a college football game because of nostalgia, and that's fine but when a game created by a billion dollar company suffers from the same outstanding problems for 10-15 years ago despite the increased capacity of technology, anyone is justified in providing criticism for it... it's that simple lol there are smaller companies that have maximized the strength of these current gen gaming consoles, that's a reasonable standard for development in 2024--and no one can contest this
John Madden questioned EA about users running around or backwards 10-20plus yds to complete forward passes downfield. That's when the QB Vision was created & stepping into a pass & facing targets became part of the game in 06.🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️

Not a touchdown but an example of a player running 35 yards back behind the line of scrimmage to find a receiver for a 5 yard gain and first down is that one play by Timmy mclain from ucf last year.Just search up Timmy mclain first down and it'll come up. I know it different in the redzone though.

I disagree with you on the blitz. He's sending 6 and there are only 5 blockers, and someone is coming completely untouched. You can't tell me you have never seen anything like this irl, man. It happens often. The whole point of a blitz is to give the Qb little to no time to make a read, especially if they are only blocking 5 players.
I dont have an issue with the blockers because as you said, someone is going to get through untouched when you send more than can be blocked. The core issue is the defender has a variety of animations to complete the sack - while the user as the QB can literally do zero until they get out of the drop back animation and when that completes an animation is automatically given to the defender.

Have standards people, think about the price they are charging you for these games. For $70 I dont think its to much to ask for an accurate simulation football game. 2k8 and 2k5 did it.
What about this wasn’t accurate? I have seen this happen in real games. I have seen players run into their teammates so hard that they have hurt each other. Sometimes corners don’t always take the correct routes to tackle. Nothing I saw in this video was inaccurate and stuff that I haven’t seen in games before.

At 6:30 I feel like blitzes like this happen in real life . On the drop back the line is flooded and QB may just drop down for the sack because they no they can’t do it anything. But the problem lies with not having the control of your player so I get it from that standpoint

i’ve been playing madden since 08 & i can tell u this is nothing of a madden reskin. from better commentary to way better movement and immersion & small details it’s far ahead of madden
i disagree with the pursuit angle point because its college football and bad angles happen pretty often from people who arent gonna go to the nfl and if anything itd be more unrealistic if they just ran a perfect pursuit angle every time
Do you even watch college football? Did you not watch the 4th and goal play in the Alabama vs Auburn game from the 40 yard line? They actually made it work and caught the ball. This is college football crazy stuff happens all the time. Players have run into their own teammates before so why you are saying that’s not real is beyond me. This game looks amazing, if you want to be miserable and cry over everything fine but don’t try to ruin it for everyone else with your negativity.

Your fair to have your own opinion ofc , but this game definitely has its flaws but it is 1000% the best game in the past decade and some change. However broken plays are able to slide here better because it is college football, this imo is a promising step in the right direction and the game looks fun which is the most important thing to me. I’m starting to realize that sports games being “realistic” isn’t feasible as sports are completely random , yes some elements like pass blocking was a lot better in for say 2k8. Madden would honestly be more bearable if there was actually immersion like the older games because Madden has literally always had poor logic lol. But in Madden every game feels the same.

A little football terminology insight on 6:12. If you watch any breakdown of QB film from QB School (JT O’Sullivan) he mentions that in every football offense worth a damn if they go no back or scat protection where they just have 5 linemen in that in a situation where the defense shows 6 that the line to the hot call (RB or TE, think short route) would make a have Dual Read assignment where they would crash down on the A and B gap, leaving the Defensive End unblocked because he is the furthest from the QB, giving the QB the appropriate amount of time to throw hot or scramble. Something that someone who played line at the college or pro level should know. Hell even most high schools who run spread do this as it’s a necessity. But that goes onto our convo last video about linemen being tethered to their assignment.

Could’ve sworn I’ve seen Mahomes run back plenty yards to avoid a sack. Last year the UCF QB ran back into his own endzone to make a pass. So by your logic, a QB that’s getting ready to get sacked should only be allowed to run back 5 yards and give up on the play
QBs do not make these types of plays on a regular basis like you can in madden/cfb25. There is a reason they make the highlight reel when they do. EA did not deliberately add these as features to make a more realistic game, its the result of poor programming
EA hopes for its gamers to only know highlight football. The down and distance situations dont matter - only the results. This way the music city miracle can justify everything.

RBT recently uploaded a video yesterday I think and in that video around the 26 minute mark, a Colorado player is literally celebrating Nebraska getting an interception on them. Yet, not a single person noticed or acknowledged it. This is what EA wants. You to just be extremely blinded by the cool (for the first few games) atmosphere that extremely standard player programming is broken. Regardless of any change this game made Ryan was always going to view it negatively. I value Ryans opinion, but your constant negativity is disappointing when it comes to this game. No one expected this game to be perfect nor did most people expect the on the field gameplay to be perfect. The reason a lot of people are excited for this game is for the various features you tend to not focus on. The recruiting, atmosphere and the road to glory. Being able to out-recruit your friend at a rival school or barely making the playoffs in a super conference. I rarely play madden but when I do exclusively play franchise mode and this game offers a TON more than madden has offered in years. That’s why people are excited. That’s why your videos seem more like the one person booing in a room full of people cheering. Still love the vids regardless and will continue to watch.

I’ve been needing a video like this. All the EA context creators are pumping out how great the game is. I do feel like it will play different and feel slightly different. I have seen things that look good to me gameplay wise but the more I have watched this weekend the more I am discouraged. How have they not fixed hit stick fumbles!!! Scrambling is still almost impossible and a hit stick is a 95% guaranteed fumble. I will make my own opinions when I get the 10 hour demo tho
Personally I feel like this is gonna feel like an actual genuine good step in the right direction but still too heavily flawed. Probably gonna feel like a 6/10-7/10 game. Not god awful but also from what I’ve seen there are still definitely some bugs they need to fix
@@crimsonchin8916 I agree. And I will say a lot of the videos that discouraged me were online not offline v cpu. I actually think the game looked great when I saw the games against CPUs. And it’s hard to judge a game based off people playing online cause they can play however they want no matter how unrealistic but there are somethings that shouldn’t be rewarded like 60 yard cross body throws down field that are perfectly accurate.

I think my biggest issue with that drop back pass 30 yards back was not just that it wasn’t short cuz it kinda was although shoulda been shorter tbh. But my main issue was how the defenders played it as none of them attacked the ball and only attacked the receiver.

I stopped playing Madden years ago and I agree with the Madden criticism but I can’t say I’m vibing with this criticism. Much of the Madden criticism is not carrying over to this game. A majority of the Madden criticism comes from the lack of care for the product beyond the on field gameplay. When it’s UT packs and lackluster franchise mode then you can’t ignore the gameplay because it’s all you have. I just think it’s ridiculous to do what you’re doing. It seems that the work they’ve put in has far surpassed anything we’ve gotten in a football game in a decade and that should be something to be excited and happy about. Nobody is just excited to have a football game - people were very skeptical of this game and the College Football team has done a remarkable job to prove a lot of people wrong. There hasn’t been a single video game ever made where you can’t find mistakes when watching back gameplay. Most people dont play the game and have a QB scramble 30 yards back to realize its an issue. You have a post showing you this has been going on for over 5 years - but you think playing it will change something? Ok.
The problem is is that you can’t stand in the pocket because of the instant sheds that take place in the game so it forces you to scramble out and back when in reality there’s a lot more of the quarterback in the pocket the issue is the game faults you for trying to do that
The QB running backwards wasnt that much of a big deal. Ive seen it a bunch of times, but of course they weren't running 30 yards back. But is that on the AI issue or the user.
1- QB wrist play pad tooo bulky 2- Ankle spat too long and bulky smh 3- No hanging mouthpieces? Smh 4- No branding on the equipment? Backplate needs team branding not just generic blk and white backplate Smh 5- I didn’t see any shiestys unless I missed it 6- Certain cleats are not tight to the ankle. Example the Deions are too bulky.
This is a football simulation. Sometimes if the offense calls the wrong formation and a lineman breaks through, the QB won't have time to react. That doesn't make for a fun game, but I am not sure how you would fix that with a fast player. Defy physics? As for the QB dropping back, I would hope it affects his stamina for the rest of the game and drain it for the next play. But because he was so far back and scrambling the game did the best it could to sort of scale the imbalance of the user's choice to drop back 35 yards and make the probability of a catch low. That last place, the short dump pass looked like great defensive position and the pass was broken up. Not sure what the complaint is in the AI. Haven't played the game yet but am excited to do so.
This game doesnt have human error programmed into it. No matter how you want to justify it - you are looking at two people playing a game where only ONE has control of the outcome. I promise you - when you are the player than can do nothing but watch the QB get sacked you wont be saying "well sometimes the offense calls the wrong formation".

easports uses the worst engine for sports gaming. it doesnt matter what extra animations they add to this game it will always have the same legacy issues with the frostbite engine. players falling down like woody on toy story clipping through each other, with no field awareness or physics, has been going on for 6 years straight. theres no way for them to fix it until they take some of their billions of dollars and make a dedicated engine for football 😩its 2024 and they still use the same 5 yard spacing unrealistic juke moves and spins/everyone still looks like their running on air with the same run style animation for every player outside of lineman😩 the presentation and graphics are beautiful but the game will always play arcadeish due to this engine😩 we need a real physics/simulation football game and this isnt it😩

It's cool having a college atmosphere even if it is half baked.. but this game isn't even as good as Madden gameplay wise. The aggressive motion blur hiding the unstable framerates. You should not HAVE TO finish your drop back resulting in a sack. You should be able to break the drop back animation if you have a defender blitzing.

Nano Blitz is not a real football term. Its a gaming term. When you dont have the ablity as a user to react and are at the mercy of the games animations - thats an issue. Thus the term nano - from "nanosecond". If you understand the branching of animations then you can see the exact second the arm goes up - and the user is given control - he is branched into a sacked because of how close the lineman is - and the play is over.

Not a touchdown but an example of a player running 35 yards back behind the line of scrimmage to find a receiver for a 5 yard gain and first down is that one play by Timmy mclain from ucf last year.Just search up Timmy mclain first down and it'll come up. I know it different in the redzone though.
Its also a totally different time in the game. That pass was to save the drive and extend the game - its a far cry from this situation.

I disagree with you on the blitz. He's sending 6 and there are only 5 blockers, and someone is coming completely untouched. You can't tell me you have never seen anything like this irl, man. It happens often. The whole point of a blitz is to give the Qb little to no time to make a read, especially if they are only blocking 5 players.
I dont have an issue with the blockers because as you said, someone is going to get through untouched when you send more than can be blocked. The core issue is the defender has a variety of animations to complete the sack - while the user as the QB can literally do zero until they get out of the drop back animation and when that completes an animation is automatically given to the defender.
It is really sad to hear this, but i will still be playing it :/ seems to me EA doesnt really care enough to build a new engine from the ground up

Have standards people, think about the price they are charging you for these games. For $70 I dont think its to much to ask for an accurate simulation football game. 2k8 and 2k5 did it.
What about this wasn’t accurate? I have seen this happen in real games. I have seen players run into their teammates so hard that they have hurt each other. Sometimes corners don’t always take the correct routes to tackle. Nothing I saw in this video was inaccurate and stuff that I haven’t seen in games before.

This is college football crazy stuff happens all the time. Players have run into their own teammates before so why you are saying that’s not real is beyond me. However broken plays are able to slide here better because it is college football, this imo is a promising step in the right direction and the game looks fun which is the most important thing to me. I’m starting to realize that sports games being “realistic” isn’t feasible as sports are completely random , yes some elements like pass blocking was a lot better in for say 2k8. Madden would honestly be more bearable if there was actually immersion like the older games because Madden has literally always had poor logic lol. But in Madden every game feels the same.

A little football terminology insight on 6:12. If you watch any breakdown of QB film from QB School (JT O’Sullivan) he mentions that in every football offense worth a damn if they go no back or scat protection where they just have 5 linemen in that in a situation where the defense shows 6 that the line to the hot call (RB or TE, think short route) would make a have Dual Read assignment where they would crash down on the A and B gap, leaving the Defensive End unblocked because he is the furthest from the QB, giving the QB the appropriate amount of time to throw hot or scramble.
Something that someone who played line at the college or pro level should know. Hell even most high schools who run spread do this as it’s a necessity. But that goes onto our convo last video about linemen being tethered to their assignment.

@@RyanMoody21 fair enough. I just look at it differently. The engines are the engines. Will it be perfect? No…that expectation is unrealistic in any gaming world. It’s the best effort in years from EA to get the community some sense of appreciation for being patient. But I choose to live different….being constantly critical makes you jaded to the point you may never give a good game a fair shake.
And this is why I call college football 25, a riskin because these core elements of core gameplay has gone unchanged for decades. Ea just reskinned it.

Could’ve sworn I’ve seen Mahomes run back plenty yards to avoid a sack. Last year the UCF QB ran back into his own endzone to make a pass. So by your logic, a QB that’s getting ready to get sacked should only be allowed to run back 5 yards and give up on the play

QBs do not make these types of plays on a regular basis like you can in madden/cfb25. There is a reason they make the highlight reel when they do. EA did not deliberately add these as features to make a more realistic game, its the result of poor programming
EA hopes for its gamers to only know highlight football. The down and distance situations dont matter - only the results. This way the music city miracle can justify everything.

RBT recently uploaded a video yesterday I think and in that video around the 26 minute mark, a Colorado player is literally celebrating Nebraska getting an interception on them. Yet, not a single person noticed or acknowledged it. This is what EA wants. You to just be extremely blinded by the cool (for the first few games) atmosphere that extremely standard player programming is broken. It’s sad because everyone is throwing a fit whenever there’s criticism of the game.

Regardless of any change this game made Ryan was always going to view it negatively. I value Ryans opinion, but your constant negativity is disappointing when it comes to this game. No one expected this game to be perfect nor did most people expect the on the field gameplay to be perfect. The reason a lot of people are excited for this game is for the various features you tend to not focus on. The recruiting, atmosphere and the road to glory. Being able to out-recruit your friend at a rival school or barely making the playoffs in a super conference. I rarely play madden but when I do exclusively play franchise mode and this game offers a TON more than madden has offered in years. That’s why people are excited. That’s why your videos seem more like the one person booing in a room full of people cheering.
Still love the vids regardless and will continue to watch.

they are both built on the same engine, so it will have similar characteristics to madden… but it is not madden at all.
Listen to me personally college football games was never above the gameplay. It was about the atmosphere and the personality and honestly, that was good enough for me.
If all you needed was the atmosphere, the modding community has done incredible things.

I’ve been needing a video like this. All the EA context creators are pumping out how great the game is. I do feel like it will play different and feel slightly different. I have seen things that look good to me gameplay wise but the more I have watched this weekend the more I am discouraged. How have they not fixed hit stick fumbles!!! Scrambling is still almost impossible and a hit stick is a 95% guaranteed fumble. I will make my own opinions when I get the 10 hour demo tho
Personally I feel like this is gonna feel like an actual genuine good step in the right direction but still too heavily flawed. Probably gonna feel like a 6/10-7/10 game. Not god awful but also from what I’ve seen there are still definitely some bugs they need to fix
@@crimsonchin8916 I agree. And I will say a lot of the videos that discouraged me were online not offline v cpu. I actually think the game looked great when I saw the games against CPUs. And it’s hard to judge a game based off people playing online cause they can play however they want no matter how unrealistic but there are somethings that shouldn’t be rewarded like 60 yard cross body throws down field that are perfectly accurate.
@@sutton-cg7gk yea I feel like that’s what I was kinda hoping for like how it was in ncaa 14 or APF 2k8 where trying to throw on the run led to a lot more underthrows. I think my biggest issue with that drop back pass 30 yards back was not just that it wasn’t short cuz it kinda was although shoulda been shorter tbh. But my main issue was how the defenders played it as none of them attacked the ball and only attacked the receiver.
I CANNOT wait for this game to get the horrible rating it deserves and when it does, not only will people who buy this start to hate it but the amount of backlash WILL be WORSE because its college and you have NIL deals and the student body and the universities and the LAWSUIT will be massive and Im gonna LAUGH.

I stopped playing Madden years ago and I agree with the Madden criticism but I can’t say I’m vibing with this criticism.
If you’re expecting a video game to be flawless, you’re gonna be waiting a long time. No sports video game in history has mimicked real life perfectly. You gotta look at things from a slightly more broad POV.
You think its going to be great - you think criticizing the game is beyond dumb. Thats your perspective, but its really not mine.
Sadly it looks like MUCH of the Madden criticism is going to carry over to this game - time will tell.
The reality is not a single person is asking for perfection - but EA knows what we DONT want in a game at this point. Being happy to just have a football game has got us in an awful place with Madden - which needs to be 100% avoided again.

Much of the Madden criticism is not carrying over to this game. A majority of the Madden criticism comes from the lack of care for the product beyond the on field gameplay. When it’s UT packs and lackluster franchise mode then you can’t ignore the gameplay because it’s all you have.
I just think it’s ridiculous to do what you’re doing. It seems that the work they’ve put in has far surpassed anything we’ve gotten in a football game in a decade and that should be something to be excited and happy about. Nobody is just excited to have a football game - people were very skeptical of this game and the College Football team has done a remarkable job to prove a lot of people wrong.
You essentially are asking for perfection. You’re not looking at the game as a game because you’re not even playing it. You’re watching gameplay to look for mistakes. There hasn’t been a single video game ever made where you can’t find mistakes when watching back gameplay. Fortunately, we don’t play videos games like that and there’s a lot more to the overall experience that makes a game a fun experience.

The problem is is that you can’t stand in the pocket because of the instant sheds that take place in the game so it forces you to scramble out and back when in reality there’s a lot more of the quarterback in the pocket the issue is the game faults you for trying to do that
The inability to see the pocket slowly lose containment is a keystone of EA Football.

The QB running backwards wasnt that much of a big deal. Ive seen it a bunch of times, but of course they weren't running 30 yards back. But is that on the AI issue or the user.

You should be penalized for dropping back 15 yards, by having the defense pursuit get a speed burst.
And they have always told us that would be the case. Accuracy was going to take a huge hit - yet here we are seeing the reality.
1- QB wrist play pad tooo bulky
2- Ankle spat too long and bulky smh
3- No hanging mouthpieces? Smh
4- No branding on the equipment? Backplate needs team branding not just generic blk and white backplate Smh
5- I didn’t see any shiestys unless I missed it
6- Certain cleats are not tight to the ankle. Example the Deions are too bulky.
This is a football simulation. Sometimes if the offense calls the wrong formation and a lineman breaks through, the QB won't have time to react. That doesn't make for a fun game, but I am not sure how you would fix that with a fast player. Defy physics? As for the QB dropping back, I would hope it affects his stamina for the rest of the game and drain it for the next play. But because he was so far back and scrambling the game did the best it could to sort of scale the imbalance of the user's choice to drop back 35 yards and make the probability of a catch low. That last place, the short dump pass looked like great defensive position and the pass was broken up. Not sure what the complaint is in the AI. Haven't played the game yet but am excited to do so.
This game doesnt have human error programmed into it. No matter how you want to justify it - you are looking at two people playing a game where only ONE has control of the outcome. I promise you - when you are the player than can do nothing but watch the QB get sacked you wont be saying "well sometimes the offense calls the wrong formation".
