A favorite memory of mine was at an Allman Brothers concert in Houston...I believe it was 1972. The band took a break, but Butch and Jaimoe stayed on stage and played a dueling drum solo that had to have lasted 15 or 20 minutes. I'm not big on drum solos, but that one was incredible!

So sad that Butch Trucks would take his own life over financial problems. If only he had let his fans know about his troubles, they would have gladly stepped up with enough donations to erase his debt with plenty left over. A real tragedy. Gone way too soon.

At that time, Gregg was very, very ill dying of cancer. Butch was Dereks uncle. The wind had been knocked outta these guys! It wasn't joyful noise. It was a memorial. Sad and reflective.
