- An epic 31 minute version of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" where former Allman Brothers Band guitarist (1997-99) Jack Pearson and Derek's brother Duane Trucks (drums - Widespread Panic/Hard Working Americans) joined the Tedeschi Trucks Band for this set closing tribute to Butch Trucks the night after he died.

The whole world:” Derek you are so great”
Jack Pearson : “ hold my beer”
There are VERY few guitarists that can push Derek Trucks to new heights of brilliance - one of them is in this video: Jack Pearson.
How can 2 players so gifted and talented be so unassuming and modest?

JACK PEARSON IS THE MAN!!
Dickey to Gregg after auditioning Jack Pearson for second guitar spot in ABB when Warren leaves: "I don't know whether to offer him a job or ask him for lessons." They then gave Jack one of Duane's Coricidin bottles to play slide.
The most amazing underrated guitar of all time!
Jack Pearson!!! Wow!!
Possibly one of the greatest rock songs ever written.
Thanks to Dickie Betts for his founding contributions to the Allman Brothers Band.
And to all who followed in his footsteps. Not replaced, just followed....
Norris Freedman :1970 live ,orig member's .rock song? try jazzrock fusion.shitload of talent on stage.best concert ever.4 hour's straight ,no break's. nonstop Jamm.
Was written in a grave yard..They were on a long tour got the bus driver to stop took instruments with them had lunch and jameed musical..When he got up..was sitting pm Elizebeth Reads grave....So was was named In the memory of Elizabeth Road...True store...Alman Brothers.Derick trucks gift it honest..son of Butch trucks Alman brothers..🎶❤️😎
totally agree, it is my favorite ABB song along with dreams. It is such an amazing composition that is jazz, blues and rock all combined into one incredible song. they will never be duplicated again period!!!
The ABB always had absolute WORLD CLASS musicians on their roster at any and every point between 1969 - 2014 or so.
All total masters of their craft.
It's nice to see Jack and Derek sharing the stage. Two different ABB eras joining up. Great to see (hear).
Why the hell isnt Duane Betts up there playing His Dad's jam?
I love Derek .. my playlist is full of his work .. but I'd like to know WHY are the Sons not playing gigs of their fathers' music alongside the Nephew?!?! Have they EVER even been asked??
I invite everyone to listen to "Autumn Breeze" by the Allman Betts Band.
Derek doing ABB anniversaries, tributes w/o the sons is wrong!
@@sv3931 chill….stop being the judge…first, none of your business, 2nd lost the attitude
@@sv3931 Try reading the description of the video... 🙄😒 This was a performance of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, which is Derek's band. Butch Trucks was Derek's uncle. Derek invited his brother to play drums on a tribute to their Dad's brother. Derek invited Jack Pearson to play. It's THAT simple! It's not some dark conspiracy to diminish Dickie's legacy of glory. Butch Trucks had just shot himself the night before & they did this song as a tribute. Quit being so butt-hurt over stupid shit & enjoy the music as they honor their family. ✌🎸🥁
Don't forget our man Kofi Burbridge. RIP.
How did Greg Allman find so many great, legendary guitarists for the ABB?
It's impossible to get better than Dickie and Duane, but every incarnation found someone else extraordinary and on that level where you can play anything with anybody and more than hold your own.
Wow! Jack Pearson is incredible! He has a unique style of playing that is really good! Wow! 🎸
Jack is phenomenal
Saw him play twice with ABB during his stint with them, he's like a quiet killer
I Love Jack.
Jack Pearson..😅🔥🔥🔥whew! Nobody like him.. nobody!
The 2 Kings....Derek, and Jack!
That's was a Bad Ass version .
this jack pearson fella is a maniac on the guitar, and his tone is spot fucking on! what an excellent performance, def would've crapped my pants if i was there for this.
Jack Pearson has the chops. At one time we would have read about this and wished we were there. Now, this was an incredible jam. Thanks for sharing.
I love this…Trucks literally gives Pearson the stage…
As he should ,
Pearson is one of Trucks mentors and idols .
Jack Pearson, what a gift
This song brings back fond memories for me growing up.
This..is...absolutely amazing. This talent with every member of the band is superb! I'm a huge fan of both Derek, and Jack but, oh my gawd. I'm drooling at this performance. As a guitarist, I can't help but smile, smile, smile. Amazing musicianship in this video.
This amongst the best versions of this classic Dickey Betts song...!!!!!!!!!
The night before with Luther Dickinson in St. Louis was special, too. Moving. This one is awesome.
Jack Peasnon seems to be just a great guys on all levels . The man has soul oozing out of him .
What a moment, what a performance, what a band. Truly sad why they came together but Butch, Greg and Duane would've loved it. And I'm embarrassed to say I lost track of Jack Pearson after the late 90s - wow, someone has improved! lol Incredible dynamics and improv between all members but JPs solo was otherworldly.
Loved it and can't thank the poster and creator enough.
The best redition of a great song to jam to.
Jack gets that leg swinging and shit gets real quick! Sick
Funny i do the same thing in solos
Jack Pearson’s on stage making a squier sound like a million bucks!
And it costed Him 100. Jack Is Amazing. They ALL Are.
If it gets any better than this, please let me know when and where... i'll fuckin' be there!!
Family time, hard to watch. I live in Macon, Ga. That was a rough night here. They practiced in a building right down from my high school.
Got concerts at lunch often. Glad the "yougins" and survivors carry on.
I too, live in Macon, born here, moved out with a military family in'60, returned in '73 and graduated Southwest high school in '75, went into the Navy in '76 and have seen the ABB many times, not all in Macon. I noticed that if they're family, you kind of misspelled their name.
@@edk.9939 That actually is my last name (Central '76 BTW), I meant Family time for the folks on stage... Related, but way back. I didn't change their spelling, but someone did in the 18th or 19th Century, best we can tell... Came in as Allmond in the 17 Century, so who knows.
Amazing
Back again, and still the slickest shit out there!!!
One of the best solos ive ever heard in 4 plus decades of listening and 3 plus decades playing. Jimmy Herring cant even touch that soulwise
A great group of gifted musicians.
Jack rules
God Damn!!!!! Derek just gets better and better
What an awesome interpretation of my favorite Allman Brothers Band tune. Thanks for posting.
Southern Rock remains in good hands
holy shit, got tingles during soul serenade
Derek . Be happy you had him for an uncle not sad because he is gone.
Without a doubt, one of the finest versions of this iconic melody!!!
One of the greatest Liz Reed's ever and I have heard a lot of them. Great jamming and so much emotion right after Butch's death
Listen to the ABB version from JFK Stadium in '73. Nothing close including the Fillmore East.
23:21 hears key change. Confused.
23:50 understands what is happening.
24:55 Tears coming down while contemplating the finality of death but rejoicing in the beauty we experience along the way. Thank you King Curtis. Thank you Duane Allman. Thank you Derek. And thank you BUTCH TRUCKS. You will live forever in my heart and mind.
around the 10 minute mark plus and minus, starts thinking it's Duane stepping in after a really good Dicky Betts solo and blowing the roof off the building, and tears streaming down face as well.
🍀💚🍀
I thought Jack was a little laid back till the last 5 min.. Wow that was fantastic. I`m speechless. I hope they outlive me so there`s still a good band out there......
Humble proposal: Ask Jack Pearson to join TDB.
God yes!!
Oh, absolutely he should join. If the TTB wasn’t already the best band out there, Jack would make it a tour de force. Jack and Derek are monsters.
Jack has some hearing problems and left the Allman Brothers for that reason.
Amazing these guys feeding off each other.. Some serious group of fine musIcIan's. Betts wrote some tasty stuff. This being one of them.
those who have come before, those present and thos to follow the, this, our music scene is absolutely incredible
Jack needs to be in TTB!
He’s better than them he need his own band
trombone shawty over there gettin it. i see u
excellent, inventive and still respectful to the spirit of the original.
TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND GENIUSZ GENIUSZ GENIUSZ nad GENIUSZAMI KOSMOS KOCHANI na zawsze dziękuję BARDZO i MIŁOŚĆ ☮️ POKÓJ MUZYKA tak
Jack Pearson. Every day I type his name in search hoping there is a new video.
we need to start a club
ABB was always my favorite jam band, but this, this is just phenomenal!! Butch would of been proud! GBNF
Thanks Dickey for writing this....and thanks Jack for making Dickey proud.
Thanks for recognizing Dickey!
When Dickie told Gregg he wanted Jack in the ABB Dickie said if Jack wasn't in the band then Dickie was going to take lessons from Jack.
Thanks for uploading. One of the more exploratory versions of this tune I've heard. Love Jack. Love Derek, Susan, whole TTB. RIP Butch. Gone too soon.
That was just ridiculously good. Wowza.
Frigging epic
Wow, Beautiful Upload friend. keep it up. Thank you for sharing this to us. Greetings from Korea
Such a great show! Could not believe it when Derek went into Soul Serenade.
Duane Loved King Curtis.
Weergaloos keyboard spel en laatste 5-6 minuten Truck helemaal los. Op dit geweldige Allman brothers geweld
The art is in the jam.!
Another masterpiece!
Awesome version. The best, the coolest show all around the world.
This is awesome. I still to this day don’t understand why Jeff Beck is SO under appreciated??????
Um, not Beck.
this is what great music is all about.
Jake Pearson has the chops. I saw him play with TTB at the Ryman a few years back - I think Derek likes him because he can more than keep up and push him.
Good on you Derek. Awesome solo!!!
Love at around 16:10 when Susan waves her hand at Jack as if to say "oh, you go on with your bad self!" And then Jack lifts off into another plane.
@@jellofarce Nah, don't think so. Susan was known as a Telecaster slinging blues player before she formed TTB. Plus I don't think Jack rolls that way (though I suspect he knows he's one of the best around.) Susan can really dig in on tunes like I Pity the Fool. But hanging with Jack and Derek on wide opening jamming where anything goes is a lot trickier -- even for a very good player. Even great players are slack jawed when Jack is in full flight -- huge toolbox, incredible taste and technique and endless ideas.
@@russhaven1575 Yes, LOVE Susan, & I don't get any sense of mean spiritedness from Jack...though, why throw down with someone so obviously of another tier? Did he actually expect her to engage? I've never been much for hot-lick "pissing matches" for this very reason. Susan is not a competitive guitarist.
@@jellofarce Fair. I think it was an invitation to converse. Jack was throwing out ideas. Susan responded and then said "I got nothing to add, you go do your thing."
Great jam y'all 👏
Just when you thought you'd heard it all these guys pull new riffs outta the air!!! Amazing!! Thanks for the upload!!!
Takes me back to my youth seeing the Allmans do this live. This is a great tribute! Thanks for the upload. Loved it.
My Jenkins. Lee, and Parson family were some of the first settlers in Knoxville. Greg Almond and Dickie Betts admired my mother Alma.
DAMN!!!!! Where do you go from up? Outstanding rendition of Elizabeth Reed!!!!!!
The best instrumental I ever heard, F---d& Betovean
they go into Soul Serenade by King Curtis for those that don't know
this one is a goodie
I definitely need to look up more about Jack Pearson!
Close the eyes, amazing sound brings back first concert in '70 thru to now.
So happy...
More cow bell please.
Jack is amazing! Certainly of the same caliber as Derek and a true Allman Brother … I’m thinking the only player who gets sounds like him was Jeff Beck …. He’s that good , just my ear after over 50 years playing guitar, it’s all subjective
With all due respect to Derek's accomplished and inventive playing, Jack is a notch higher. Certainly harmonically.
@@johnzias284 agreed after further study, I think he’s on a Jeff Beck level!
This band id amazing and we all know about Derek.....But Jack Pearson is a monster..
Yes Jackie Pearson A Pleasure
And Jack does it all by just showing up at the gig with a $200 squire stratocaster and plugs straight into the amp.
@@staceywmccoy I finally got enough money good “high-end” guitar and now I want squire bullet. That I could have got a long time ago.
wonderful performance! thank you upload!
one of the top 5 versions of this tune I've ever heard
Hot, hot, hot. .... Thank you for this post. ....
Derek's little brother drumming!
WOW
omg jam on jam on!!!!!
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for filming this. Needed to watch this today.
SOUL SERENADE YEEEAHHH
JUST STUNNING - THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Elizabeth for inspiring this one.
Ooh, the patience of that woman!
❤ Don't need to say more!❤💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐💋💐🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🙏
I dont know why Trucks doesn't get Warren Haynes,, a keyboard player, and keep the rest of the group and then you got The Allman Bros back again.
Baby brother Duane on the drums!
Just Fucking......WOW
Check out a band called The Acousticats playing this song. It is excellent
Holy crap !!📵📵📵😎😎😎😎
Kofi...smokin'!!
Duane Allman might have drifted of to jaz met Stanly Clark , the basist and who knows. this is a hint of what he was heading to. with also a backward dive into blues? wow having said that, I hope I did not upset anybody.
