Brother... you took the words right out of my mouth...Unbelievable... I need to step up my practice game... The problem is that I don't know if there is enough time to even get close... But I'm gonna try....Much appreciation for ya'll posting this... I have definitely been re inspired.... Much Respect from St Petersburg Florida U.S.A... Again Thank You...
UK Channel 4 prog Equinox, episode "Twang, Bang, Kerang!" about the electric guitar, 20th Aug 1987. I knew people in blues, metal, pop & rock bands at the time and all everybody was talking about the next day was Jerry Donahue! Astounding technique!
To be as mega talented as Jerry is yet equally as humble is a testament to the kind of man he is.love him. To getykur bends pedal steel prescice I always found practice bends while plugedi into a tuned and watching and hearing was an excellent exercise
I love my _Award Session JD10 Sessionmaster Jerry Donahue signature compact guitar preamp_ (yep - someone should have had a word with them about branding) - the best sounding guitar thing I've ever owned.
Good lord...I remember watching this when I was 16, still at high school and instantly wanting my first guitar. I already knew of Gerry Donaghue from the Fotheringay album, but back in the day, with no internet, seeing him play was a revelation for me. Thanks for this. Special memories.
watching this at the time put me off playing for years. I could not hope to play as well as these blokes and gave up. I'm playing again in my own style today though.
I missed that! One look says "Go ahead and try to play that.... you'll fail." I know thats probably not what he is really thinking, but its funny to imagine.
Love to you all, if you would like to see something special, please go to your UA-cam and just put in,, Jerry Donahue - the blues 2,, Jerry Donahue and Stewart Barnes demo for aspen pitman amps long time ago, lots of love from belgium ivo opdebeeck
same way you watch a very skilled lick and you say to yourself...."oh, god, that'll take months to do that"...and what a surprise that you learn it in less than two hours.....the world of guitar hasn't got any sense at all...it's freakin' weird...by the way, if you try and try and never give up, you can play whatever you will
wondering and wondering I have been for year's what string gauges and types Jerry had on that telecaster looks totally custom each a shade different in colour on the bass side
The funny thing is somewhere around 15 years after this footage, he switched over to thumb pick and played that way from then on. Of course, he's unable to play guitar these days, but the last fifteen-ish years he was playing, he was a thumbpick guy.
Do you know the name of the song @2:25 ? Also who is the guitarist who's playing it. The song almost reminds me of like Doc Watson or something very similar to his style.
If ever a performance warranted a smug grin at the end, then that is it. Awesome.
Watched this and recorded it on vhs which I still have. Equinox.
Me too
I saw this in 1987 and to me his performance of the Claw is still one of the most amazing performances on a guitar ever
Dang!! Jerry's neck pickup is pretty much flush with the pickguard
He probably made that smile cause when he looked up from the guitar he saw that the film crew was just starring in awe.
I watched this program when it first aired and watched this clip countless times since. Love it
I'm speechless.. That song at the end is out of this world. Absolutely brilliant!
The Claw...
It starts & ends as a cover of Jerry Reed's The Claw with a bendy improv section added in the middle. Don't know Jerry Reed? Ohhh ... SON!

A very dedicated guitarist
An amazingly player and still so humble. One of the greats. Eddie vsn halen wishes

In order of appearance: yes, that Seymour Duncan. Jerry Donahue. Gerry McGee. Chet.
Great insight into the biggest names in the business. Wonderful. Thanks for posting this.
Love his smug face at the end. What a player.

String-bend city !! Awesome stuff.

16 year old me sitting watching this thinking 🤔 ok I’ll give it 4 weeks to learn this and take it from there...33 year later still trying 🤣

anyone know the latest song played by Seymour ?
One third of the Hellacasters. Listen to Jim Campilongo, too.
and it's not like he uses it as some sort of a technical gimmick, still fits the context of the song...
wondering and wondering I have been for year's what string gauges and types Jerry had on that telecaster

6:50 Bending.

Remember this well - love the smile at the end
No words.
A lot of banjo playing,I'm thinking
WHY IS THE VOLUME SO LOW?????????????????????????
Good that Jerry cannot use a thumbpick otherwise he may be seriously good...ok just kidding. Mind numbing playing!

Who is Backer or is it Bacher?
Hi Andy,
He doesn’t say ‘Backer’. What he actually says is “A cross between some Beck or Jerry Reed”, referring to Jeff Beck, of course.
@@garystafford9514 Thank you. Gary. I find myself going back to this clip. It would be great if the program was aired again.
Do you know the name of the song @2:25 ?

Don't know the name of the song, but that's none other than Mr. Seymour Duncan who's playing it
