I love how calm and, still his face is, while he casually lays down a nearly impossible piece of guitar work. To me, that’s about as cool as it gets.

I was wondering how long it would take metalheads to realize what's new to the great Steve Vai has been commonplace among country guitarists doing faux pedal steel bends on the guitar. Though with Jerry it's more than a few licks they toss off here and there.
BTW, sometimes a little whammy bar (or a Bigsby vibrato) can help with those kind of tricks. To twist a phrase, everything that's new is old again.

@@nosuchperson284 actually people who listen to Steve Vai are not Metalheads because Steve play mostly instrumental stuff which you can't just call metal.

Jerry is such a beast. The perfection in his bending is ridiculous. Been a fan since the first time I heard the Hellecasters as a young guitarist and the older I get the higher the respect I gain for his skill. Randomly stumbled on this video and loved it

I'm really lucky in as much as I've known Jerry since we first met in the mid to late 60s back in the UK. I had the priviledge of playing drums with him on a regular basis back then and we'd have the odd drink together. He's a very humble guy and not given to go off on ego trips, which is incredible given his huge talent. I don't know if you are aware of this but sadly he had a stroke a couple of years back . This has resulted in him not being able to play since, and doctors think he may never be able to pick up the guitar again ... a huge talent which may be gone forever.

Pretty amazing. He pulls & pushes strings at the same time but it's hard to know what he is doing as there seems to be more notes coming out than he is playing, especially high ones. I'll figure it out later. It's a great lesson in that style
