If you're in the intersection and the traffic light turns red, only go after you've double and triple check to ensure the oncoming traffic has in fact stopped. "T" bone crashes are the most fatal, and often occur when drivers are making left turns. If you're in the intersection and the light turns red, breathe, know that you own the intersection, and only clear the intersection when you know it's completely safe.

This is the nightmare of every driver, and more so for a new driver. Frankly some intersections that are too busy need arrow lights( like the 137 ave -- castle downs intersection, Edmonton). I always see close calls.
Easy, make sure it's clear from the other side (ie someone's not running the light), and then finish your turn.
That means you are taking turn on red light . I mean If wait that long
What if the car does run a red light and you crash (get tboned), who is at fault for the crash?
I'm worried about the vehicles from the right side as soon the signal turns red in a major intersection. How to deal with that?
If you have already crossed the line and are in the intersection, everyone who has a green light is supposed to wait for you to finish your turn. Make sure they see you though.
I mean, a good solution to this is to just not stop in the middle of an intersection while waiting for a left turn. I see people do it all the time and while if you are careful it doesn't really hurt anything, I honestly wouldn't recommend it. I NEVER creep up on a yellow arrow to wait for a clearing, I stay right at the stop line before the light in the left turn lane.
but you own the intersection once your car is inside the intersection, so other cars don't have the right of way until you are out of the intersection that turned red while you were in it. you are perfectly safe creeping into the intersection if the light is green. yellow means caution, you may still do it though because yellow does not mean red. not going into the intersection for a left turn hurts traffic flow, instead of 8 cars getting through every left turn cycle it's 6.
@@TravisDoesGames That's true if everyone follows the traffic rules, it's just risky because many people don't pay attention, that's why I don't do it. It's still completely legal ofc

The better solution would be to not have any "kamikaze intersections" at all and have specific left-turn lanes and arrows. . .
I encountered an idiot who thinks as long as he has green light he has right of way, and start turning immediately while I still finishing my left turn after my light turned red. You do t have right of way even if you straight when light turn green until the intersection has cleared. Period.

What if we enter the intersection on yellow light and just before exiting it turns red, does it trigger red light camera flash?

If you are in the intersection before it turns red you did not run a red light
Why not just do away with these left turns and just have all way traffic lights.
That doesn’t make sense. Not everyone has to go straight.

What is the cars are turning left when the light is red ?
If they have already crossed the line it’s legal, cars that are still behind the line should not proceed
What he failed to tell you, is you are not supposed to be beyond the white line in the left turn lane, until you can safely make your left turn. If the light turns yellow, you are to remain in the intersection (behind the white line) until the next green light. You do not own the intersection because you should never be there!

This is poor advice, you're supposed to get in the intersection during heavy traffic and get out of the intersection when it's your turn to
@@TravisDoesGames nope! Anyone in the intersection when the light turns red is in violation! You remain behind the white line until you can make your complete turn. And yes if you have to sit thru more than one cycle... So be it. Im not saying we dont all pull into the intersection... But that is NOT the legal method!

@@gjsrky if there is a gridlock, do not enter the intersection. if there is not, enter it a little. police advice is to not follow one car into the intersection and just have one left turner in the intersection at all times. this is difficult with heavy non gridlocked traffic.

This is wrong what you should do is not enter the intersection unless it's clear enough for you to complete your left turn you should not be stopping in the middle of the intersection waiting to turn left wait behind the line until it's clear to go then you go
If those were the rules, then at some intersections at rush hour, nobody could turn left for hours. The better thing, unless your state/province forbids it, is to proceed into the intersection when the light is green and wait until oncoming traffic clears and then complete the turn. Better yet, there should always be left-turn lanes so people can avoid those kamikaze intersections

@@ericemmons3040 Not entering the intersection until you can make a complete turn is what is supposed to be done. We have turned it into something different. But if you look up the legal method, that's it. Just like if your vehicle is in any part, still in the intersection when your light turns red, you are running a red light ...

@@gjsrky The legal method may depend on what state you're in. According to what I have read, in California, if you enter the intersection when the light is green, then you may legally complete a left turn even if the light has turned yellow or red.
0:27 I would even consider reversing as far as possible without hitting any vehicles behind me but even then you might still be blocking part of the intersection ☹
