if you reduce the triangle from the mesh, the model will be lowpoly, which will be rough. There are two ways to do it. First, if you have original NURBS surface, you can choice less polygon to start with. Second, if you don't have original surface and only can work with mesh. you can use "ReduceMesh" command. It can be set either by % of what you like to reduce or but # of mesh you like it to become. I hope this helps.

the absolute tolerance can be change under "option-Unit". what do you mean by "more light product"? If you are talking about the size of it by changing to larger number, It may. However, you may lose the printing details.

Sometimes it is easier to rebuild error parts on the NURBS model instead try to weld or fix the mesh.
