Cambria County will always make me think of my friend Bryan Pearson. I met Bryan at Penn State where we both majored in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. He carried me through multiple forestry courses. On weekends we would hunt together. He was from a small coal mining town named Summerhill in Cambria County. Summerhill was the location of the South Fork Hunting and Fishing Club dam which broke during heavy rains in May of 1889 to cause the Johnstown Flood which killed over 2,200 Pennsylvanias. Bryan has been a life-long friend and he was a groomsman in my wedding. This week we rallied at game lands 26 and hiked several miles to the designated highpoint. We identified an ideal Red Oak and made the climb. It was a beautiful spot in the woods and I am thankful I was able to share it with my friend.
