we really need more interviews like this from real musicians like him in our music scene. because ab har koi aajkal ek to khud ko artist bolne laga hai or market me un faltu artists ke interviews hote hai jinko sangeet ka sa bhi nahi pata hoga and that's only because of the PR Team and the music labels. or vo dikhta bhi hai unke interviews or podcast me kyuki vo kuch na to bata ke jaate na sikhake unko khud hi nahi pata to dusro ko to kya hi batayenge. salute to purbayan chatterjee sir. I wish one day I will also get a chance to make a song with you.
He is a brilliant musician with technical understanding about sound and music. What a great and wonderful interview it had so much knowledge. Please keep bringing and making interviews with such actual and real musicians of our country. India is great. Love and regards
What an awesome video... Loved it...last part I think he is hinting at Rishab.. Rishab achanak se hyoed ho gaye hain.. yes he is definitely good but as Purbayan sir said he cannot use Ustad ji's name and keep flying it will end one day then he have to use his own fuel... Yes he was choosen by Ustad ji himself but I think Anoushka is far better sitar player than what Rishab is currently but definitely have high hopes that he will definitely fly high
One really want to see rishavji's full concert starting with alap, continuing with jor,and properly finishing with traditional fast Jhala..the raw real stuff ...is he able to do it in real time / real stage wise ..one who is able to produce the original is allowed after that to modify it somewise and present it on their own...one can't jump to phase II escaping the grind of phase I....u know why ravishankar ki and nikhilji are spoken in same breath...raviji was able to actually in Phase I connect to what nikhilji's playing depth was ..they could individually play 3 hr concerts of their own ..hooking audience in...with their own style...only after reaching to that depth..raviji decided to cater for audiences with lesser attention span....one shouldn't allow raviji's legacy to be slandered by a guy who thinks putting words like# shiva and #Kailasa in a 10 yr old level sitar level skills found abundantly in India ...merits the attention it's getting..
of course dude. I know he is talented but there are a lot of people who are better than him. He is more popular because of his looks. Using Pt. ravi shankar saab's name is still kind of odd. One has to gain his own name in the world.
I feel really shameful for myself that I know this brilliant musician from our Bengal root just now through this video.. But it's really proud moment to know he is a great Bengali indian musician 🙏❤️
🔥 Innovation is a must if we want to keep Indian classical music alive and to attract today's youth who have short attention spans. However, the beauty & sweetness of the sound of a traditionally made instrument just cannot be matched.
Oh Purbayan Sir ! What are you??!! Kind enough to share all these valuable details being such an incredible artist, such an honest artist you are. My heart felt heavy with joy while listening to you. I can listen you for hours and hours long straight and yet cant get enough with it. The dedicated student and guru in you can be clearly seen in your speech and body language and your personality. The charisma you hold is undefineable. I have always been your admirer and see you as my guru, got to learn so many things from you sir. Technologies are sometimes blessings that people like us can be able to connect with legends like YOu SIr with due respect. I REALLY REALLY WANT TO LISTEN YOU MORE. PLEASE HELP MASHABLE INDIA. PURBAYAN SIR, SENDING PRANAM AND LOVE ALL THE WAY FROM NEPAL. PLEASE KEEP BLESSING US.
@@PurbayanChatterjee Never thought a response can bring this much happiness !! Thankyou so much for considering my little talk sir. I will keep your words as your blessings sir. Made my day !! 🙏🙏🌻🌻❤
@@PurbayanChatterjee And Garaj Garaj Fusion Sitar part has been my ringtone as soon as I listened the masterpiece. Blessings to ears. Thankyou so much sir 🙏🙏
Excellent interview, this guy is passionate about his music, its insane how many talented people India has got and the best part was how he very rightly mentioned that kids first need to learn how to sit at one place for 2-3 hours and feel bored, only then knowledge will automatically empower them
OMG: This story is so relatable. I could appreciate each and every chapters of this story. This is so true for any teacher-student parent-kids relations. This is how a legend like you is made. I wish the new generation is able to digest this methods of training.
It's pretty standard for electric guitar. To know more you can look up videos on "guitar pickups" online. "The Guitar Handbook" book is a very good reference on the subject.
Loved this, have been following Purbayan Da from quite sometime and I must say that he is a great Sitar player and the best part he has an abundant knowledge for his art and he is also open to innovation.. Keep it up Dada and loved your playing in the track!!
These kind of content should go viral! Loved the technical explanation of the sound processing and comparison of both instruments coming from the maestro himself! Please publish more content like this ❤
This is absolutely the best interview that i have seen so far.. its a perfect balance of performance and questionnaire. Kudos to the Mashable team for this!
What a fabulous show and discussion. I loved how he went into the details of Sitar’s genesis and evolution. Loved his geekery :) 😊 and of course his shredding on Garaj Garaj 🙏🙏🙏 Props for throwing a high five for Pink Floyd too 👌👌
What an amazing video, not only Purbayanji shows his unmatched dexterity on Sitar, but also gives us a wonderful guide and a hidden cue to picknup an instrument.
A very informative interview and the creative liberation is lovely. Shri Purbayan Chatterjee is so humble even with the knowledge and skills he has. I really hope for them to work more on the electric sitar and make it available for us, consumers. A great initiative for our Indian Culture to prosper ❤
No matter what, Original Instrument sounds heavenly Melodious enabling long time hearing without harming EARS❤ Electrical one creats pain in ear after few minutes 😢
You need to develop taste for that...Once done its addictive but I agree it takes time..Its exactly like a Rudra Veena or Dhrupad performance can be challenging for a new listener
@@ramkrishnadash4467 RudraBeena isn't mass music for drunks! 🤣 But for *'Sadhakas'* to explode their emotions to *Mahadev* . You're right, Only maybe after few drinks test to listening Generator even develops🥸
Great discussion.. but for me , sound of the original wooden sitar is the one that touches the soul. Regards for Purbayan ji in many folds. My view, " 22:38 Respect technology, but please don't be too technical.."
