    The tracing paper is a beautiful touch it seems-of course the book of the Red Goddess would be covered in a veil that is easily tarnished. May be a symbolic gesture to throw the cover away for the time we are living in, but I would keep the shroud of mystery so that only those with a true-hearted and curious inclination towards what is hidden would be tempted to take the book off the shelf and look at it.

    Lovely, lovely book! As if the slip case in fabric and the dust cover in translucent red paper weren’t enough, the pages still have gilt edges. Anyway, a jewel! Plus this review has the merit of providing a much more accurate idea of what this book is about. Finally, Denis’ statement that Peter Gray is the inquirer of the Christian villans was a great one! 😝

    Beautiful hardcover and great video. Speaking of esoteric subjects, I received the Easton Press version of the 1455 Gutenberg Bible. This book is absolutely stunning and huge, Smyth binding, real cowhide leather, Finch vanilla vellum paper, and absolutely huge. There is not any videos on this particular edition anywhere. Thanx alot I love your reviews, but I have never seen a review on any of Franz Bardon's books, he was one of my fav magicians, up there next to Aleister Crowley, he lived during the same period. He and Crowley also have letters, they sent back and fourth, but there quite rare and difficult to find.

    So I'm reading it now. Oddly enough the movie "The 9th Gate" was suggested to me right as I was waiting for the book to ship. It is evident that this movie is about Babalon. The woman who enters the main character's life even drives a red Dodge Viper. I wonder what Peter Grey would think????

    • @JiandiP
      @JiandiP Рік тому

      @@justinroberts7291 Yes, she was. Apparently, Roman Polanski's film loosely follows a novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. I don't know who put in the Babalon references, but she is not unheard of in L.A. Besides Crowley, another interesting portion of modern Babalon history includes the workings of Jack Parsons, one of the grandfathers of rocket engineering, and L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. Does anyone know if Babalon is alluded to in the original novel?

    I'm curious, Mr. Fish/fellow esotericists, would you consider Thelema to be a LHP approach to magick and mysticism?
    Thanks,
    - Drew

    • @FoolishFishBooks
      @FoolishFishBooks  3 роки тому +1

      It's a good question, and it depends on your definition of LHP. I'm my latest video on Tantra (for members only until next Saturday, so you should already have access to it), I give a definition of what constitutes tantric practice, and the 10 last points are specific to a left hand path. In my opinion, Thelema matches then all.

      @@FoolishFishBooks That's fair lol. I'm not a Mason myself, but have always felt vaguely drawn to it while simultaneously turned off by how many Masons seem to go out of their way to reject the obviously occult aspects of what they do. That said, you can't really deny the massive influence of Freemasonry on OTO, Golden Dawn, Mormonism, Wicca etc.

      @@Oberon334 💯 if it weren't for masonry handing down the secrets over the past 300 years, many of those secrets would be lost today. They've been very good custodians, whether they realise it or not 😊🙏 the same applies to the organised churches, naturally!
      I think if someone was looking for a gathering with spiritual mysteries, I'd rather direct them to Aurum Solis, Imbolc, OTO, or the modern Golden Dawn. I would recommend the masons to someone looking for a club with plenty of social gatherings and the knowledge that they were doing some good in the world. It's not impossible that if they knew something of the symbols used, they'd be able to gather something from their membership, but I wouldn't rely on the membership to be the source of learning.
