So, I already got the Tyson version of the books... why should I purchase those? Can you sell them to me in words? Because I like them, very much. They would fit perfectly in my library.
@@wanderingtallguy6849 the biggest difference is the readability. I would point to the Tyson edition for the annotations and explanations, but to this edition for the text itself.
@@FoolishFishBooks Thanks.
Can you do a video on what magic is?
Foolish fish should i read one chapter of all tree books at the time,or one book at the time?
Great video as always! My copy of The Fourth Book arrived this morning. So lovely to finally have the full set of 1st editions.
Dam. I'd get it just for the last 2 books in the fourth book. I was reading the Tyson version kinda like a novel and I have to say the most interesting part was the initial biography of agrippas life. Dude had a wild one. 😳 lol. And he was friends with trithemius wasent he. Great review as always brotha. 👏
My own set of Agrippa’s volumes by Black Letter will probably arrive next week: I’m looking forward to it.
Mister “Fish”, your comments get better every time: saying that Agrippa was an original Chaos Magician and that Donald Tyson’s litteral translation from Latin sounds a little bit like Yoda were both sensational!
I work with Latin and I can say that it is exactly like that! I’d like to quote your sayings on this matter to my students if you allow me, of course.
So, congratulations on the work of Paul S. Young who has managed to give the English translation more fluidity (i.e., to have actually translated it).
And also to you for this another great and useful review: congratulations!
The Yoda comment is actually from Paul Summers Young 😜 Of course In not only happy, but honoured to be quoted about the Chaos magic thing, I'm so glad that appealed to you 😄
I don't know how I found your UA-cam channel but I love your videos!! Keep it up :) thank you for introducing so many new stuff for me!
Hi Alex! I'm so glad you like the content!
Fourth book is on the way for me. The first three volumes are great. Glad I jumped on the 1st editions, they sold out very quickly.
Book II just arrived and it's beautiful. Love your channel.
Book 2 starts getting quite interesting! Thanks for your support! Have you joined us on Discord? Just download the app, then in user settings, click on Connections, UA-cam, and enter your UA-cam credentials there. Discord will see that you are a FF member and will show you the invitation to the server right there. Hope you make it!
Glad to see your Swedenborg volumes smack dab in the center of your shelves! I love his writings and the Swedenborg Foundation's hardbacks are aesthetically pleasing.
Ah damn it don't be tempting me Denis haha I might have to put aside my tarot money for these lovely volumes
They're nice treats for sure! 😅
I'm currently reading the Tyson version and you're not kidding about it not being an "easy read" 😂 The annotations are great tho.
I think those 4 jewels will be my version. I found the big one version a bit too difficult to understand for my english reading skill.
How excellent, how exciting......a must have in any collection....5\5
Oh look, Foolish Fish has made me jealous. What. A. Surprise...
😅 planning a little announcement this evening, I really hope you like it 😉
Ohhh I’m excited!
@@suncat5160 SO I managed to record and mostly edit the message yesterday, but I'll most likely air it this evening or even Friday. Sorry for getting your hopes up there :D The short of it is that
1) my shelves are full, so a wind-down of the physical book videos (kind of inevitable as I reach the limit of my shelf-space XD)
2) the news videos will be made available to non-members a day or two after they go out to members
3) there will be monthly guided meditations for members
@@FoolishFishBooks haha I certainly was looking for it! I don’t mind waiting FF 😄, I’m sure it’ll be worth it.
Oh, these are beautiful.
Anyone know how these might compare to the new version getting ready to be released by Eric Perdue? I'm torn!
Thank you, Denis. I have come to appreciate geomancy through John Michael Greer's book on the subject and would be interested in finding out what the 4th book says. I guess I should look into Stephen Skinner's edition then.
The Donald Tyson edition is very worthwhile though a bible to say the least :)
Hows everyone’s day?
Can you do a review on the book true black magic by Joseph Peterson?
Great video by the way!😀
Still waiting on my second editions in the mail!
I had a question pop up about the comparison of these and the Tyson version: Is there any differences in content? Somehow it would seem that there would be more of something in the Tyson version? Pictures? Notes? Or rather empty space? Is there anything in the content i will miss when i read only the black letter press editions?
btw. i really appreciate anytime you answer questions, tank you! :)
I do a pretty thorough comparison of the 3 editions I own (including the 2 you mention) here:
ua-cam.com/video/V14_FUuxm_8/v-deo.html
@@FoolishFishBooks thanks mate, i alredy stumbled onto that video yesterday. Now i want the Purdue edition 😅
Somehow I always feel like it's your hand doing the talking
Hahaha lol, cause your a magician and see everything in symbols 😂😂😂
are you getting the Key of Solomon by Troy books? it has a black leather edition still left
I think I am satisfied with th etwo Greater Keys that I already own ;) But you're right, the Black Edition by Troy (Mathers' version) is a worthy version!
@@FoolishFishBooks the clavis with the colour facsimiles? don't you ever need a translation like Veritable key or mather's greater key?
@@horrorjunkie96 these are essentially that! The transcriptions are in the back of those books.
@@FoolishFishBooks hmmm. so U think both editions of Clavis are more superior than Veritable? does veritable have nothing over them? or outclassed
Anyone know where i can get a first edition prinitng of the full collection? ...2024
So would you say that this translation is more accurate than the one in Llewellyns version? Or is the difference just mostly between old and more modern english?
How does this translation compare to John Michael Greer's translation he did 10 years ago?
Lesser keys needs a smaller size book like this
I have a question on the book it says magic, but that word is considered as party tricks, and when you put a K on magic, that is real magick so is this real magick? Basically what I’m trying to say and is it gonna give me any value I’m new I’m trying to learn.
The “magick” spelling is relatively new and primarily done by some magic users or researchers to separate their craft from stage magic/illussions.
The “magic” spelling still very much refers to real magic though, especially in non-modern books. It’s a style choice.
Ahhh beautiful
😍😍😍
I just came here to hear you say "de occulta philosophia" out loud, but do you
Can you buy them separately?
Yes! Follow the link to the shop (in the description), you'll see the different options 😊
The link in your description leads to something else.
Thank you! Hope it's fixed!
@@FoolishFishBooks Its not. But the link in the comment section works. The Amazon link does not work
@@tuckert3ig I think you may just need to refresh your page ;) it works for me.
@@FoolishFishBooks Thank you. I think it was on my end.
omfg want money
I love the selection at black letter press, but every book I've purchased has tiny type.
Man I'm jealous, I've been waiting since March 3rd for my order with no clear end in sight! It's gotten a bit trying to be honest. They make beautiful books but I'm not sure I can handle doing this again...
Oh boy! I'm sorry to hear that... Are the books simply in transit? The current state of international shipping is a disgrace!
I believe you should just not buy a pre-order then, these books are available on the website since 10days...
@@FoolishFishBooks it is in transit(at least in theory) and I did just get a notice, thank God, that it's at least on the way to the U.S. so that's something of a relief. As far as not pre-ordering I wanted to at least get the first edition of the fourth book since I had the opportunity ( I think there was something like 80 left when I found out about it.), The other three were tacked on to the initial one for the sake of shipping. Ultimately it's probably my fault to a degree for doing that but it's still been a test of patience. All that said, being that the BLP books I presently have are some of my most prized grimoires I'm probably just talking smack anyway! 😏
@@alexanderkaval7506 Yeah, I've got a couple books in the post at the moment that have been "on the way" one way or another since October! I can definitely sympathise! All worth it when they arrive though :D
@@FoolishFishBooks good Lord! I think my head would explode, or chew my fingers off at least. Well there's a case for me to chill out if ever there was one 😂
