- Acrobat Michael McNamara demonstrates both his "one finger trick" and his never-duplicated-by-any-other descent down a stairs of pedestals on one hand.
Sadly, Michael died nearly five years later on December 7, 1967 as a result of a car-pedestrian accident. His friend credited him with saving his life, as Michael saw the car coming and pushed him out of its path before being struck. Michael was to be on the Ed Sullivan show that next spring.
Amazing young man, how polite and sweet is he. God bless him.
How wonderful to find these videos of Michael (read an article in Dec 2010 issue of Adirondack Life) . One of my sisters was a student of Rose McNamara's and I have very fond memories of the family and a couple of ocassions when Danny, Michael, Michaela and Rose stopped by our home. My sister also did acrobatics, walked on her hands and was on television a couple of times. Indeed it was a terrible shock and an unbelievable loss when Michael died at such a young age. An astonishing boy!
Nan Abbott-Hourigan 💔😰
Where would one find that article on Michael ?
God, this is the craziest thing I've ever seen. And it's so great to see the fantastic Henry Morgan enjoying himself.
Yes and Henry wasnt always this amicable! This child is a prodigy, what a shame he was killed so young.
I remember originally seeing this broadcast when I was 10
The other guy who did the one finger trick was a Ringling Bros. Circus performer named Unus, who Bill Cullen almost mentions. You can see him doing the stunt if you have the videos of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, because he was on one of the shows with the Beatles. He didn't do the hopping down the stairs routine, though. I actually bought the Beatles set not to see the Beatles, but because I had heard of Unus from an old Life magazine and wanted to see him do this stunt.
There was a family named McNamara where 8 brothers presented a secret that they finally have a baby sister. They youngest was named Michael and he kept pushing Garry's mic away and groaning no .. would this have been the same Michael??
I wondered too!
No. The family was in 1959 and Michael was about 2 or 3. This was about 1962 or 63 and Michael is almost 16.
rose mcmamara was my aunt and her brother is arthur eagan my dad this is amazing
Did they end up having any more children after Rose?
is this the same Michael who was on a few years earlier with his eight brothers?
yes it is..
It is not that same Michael. This one's first appearance was when he was 13 and he tap danced on his hands.
Wow that was amazon
Amazing?
amazing! and i know for a fact that it is real! not a trick
We all know that as we can see it in the video.
Absolutely out of this world
What an amazing talent. I once saw Bruce Lee doing preddups on two fingers of the same hand but this beats this hands down (excuse the pun). Ive never seen such a performance of his two acts on this great show ,not even on modern talent shows. Ge was a prodigy in his skills
Amazing! With the top hat staying on too! So sad that he died so young but I’m happy that he had such a zest for life whilst he was here. Great guy.
What a fine young man and what an incredible tragedy to lose him so young. His family should be proud, he died as honorably as anyone in Vietnam.
Brian O'Hara Absolutely. So pitiful. 💔
Much more honourably.
Never saw anyone even on Ed Sullivan do this.
this is my cousin
Really? Have you any more information on him?
