This opus, TWV 53, was published around 1733 and had to be the Number One Hit for thirty-five years, until it was upstaged by Wolfgang. You go, Georg.

I've read that Georg wrote over 3,000 compositions but over half of them were lost! Probably due to 2 disastrous World Wars!
Shameful.
Still, just like with Vermeer, I'm grateful for the work by Telemann which has survived!

JohnPhillipJaeger : Surely it was Handel who beat Wolfgang to it with his late oratorio Solomon and the queen's arrival. c1748. But then can also detect shades of Georg's pal-JSB's - earlier Brandenburg phrasing in this elegant work. Perhaps illustrates how their music was exchanged or copied.
