Will the course include some kind of weekly “homework”? like you learn about zhang zhuan and then are given a practice schedule to do it until your next class?
Just wondering what kind of instruction will take place since its a remote learning course.

Brother you have very very great Karma in just meeting him. Only way you can meet folks like this is to travel to Dharamsala , India where a great number of Tibetan Masters reside or travel to Kopan monastery in Nepal. Anyone who watches this cannot do so unless they accumulated the Karma to meet this man who is clearly a Master in any school of Buddhism.
I feel just following him for 5 years one can reach the first jhana-
"Quite secluded from sense pleasures, secluded from unwholesome states of mind, he enters and dwells in the first jhana, which is accompanied by applied thought and sustained thought with rapture and happiness born of seclusion. (M.i,1818; Vbh.245)"

I got up to one hour in the standing meditation after a long time. The most amazing feeling of floating begins after the 20 min mark. The muscles facia relax and the mind is silent. Truly amazing practice! Seated meditation is crucial.

When you have succeeded and achieved deep relaxation, having gone through your entire body releasing all of the tiny tension spots and you become aware and awash in this new state of free flowing energy. Your smell is improved, your taste is improved, your sight is improved, your mental clarity is improved, what happens after achieving this state and you no longer meditate in the manner which allowed you to achieve this state? You stop meditating all together, how long will this state persist with no more maintenance?

I really like the talk because I remember some of what was addressed here spoken about by my Xingyi Instructor. It is great to hear another master saying the same things. Like body muscles hanging on a hanger, building sensitivity, relaxation, and awareness. This isn't some crazy mystical explanation on video but one that is more sound.

      Hello @The Martial Man
Could he talk more about the deeper stages? According to him, how does one become enlightened?, then "immortal" according to Daoism esoterism? (minding there's a difference between enlightened and immortal). Or according to him, can a human transcend their own matterial body? He seems to say everything is there, so is the issue only that the mind is "inflammed", and the whole work is deflaming the mind to an absolute minimum?
Also, has he ever heard of sudden release of pockets of energy that can be harmful to the organs or nervous system? Or what is his opinion on the dangers, that are sometimes warned about, in all these practices?
      Thanks you =)

I did many years of standing on faith that it would deliver magical results - in the end I just sort of quit the standing but carried on with other training methods. Interestingly, what I got from the standing continued to grow anyway (almost like I got greater results in the time since stopping, but from a process that needed to be initiated by the standing). Been getting back into it again recently, but in a more informal way that with my original training.

Great and clear explanation. Well understand but need very patient and long hours to practice. But my opinion beside Zhan Zhuang , it still need a form to practice in motion. It is need calm mind and full concentration to maintain the balance between aligned spinal in the back and surrender/calm mind in the front body. Then after both standing and motion achieved , we can continues the practice in daily activities. My question, please kindly explain further for the meaning of opening the joint. Thanks in advance.

Very true. I stood for years in agony with a teacher then one day he said I had the feeling and good move and try different positions. Some teachers exhaust your main muscles so you eventually rely on the rest but others make you relax and feel from inside out. Two opposite approaches.

I have as yet to hear any of the few different teachers of nei gung offer a similar explanation of how it occurs and what is happening. The few I'm thinking about can all demonstrate their skill, but so far none of them really explain what it is that's actually going on. This is very much like those rare individuals who occasionally exhibit ESP of some type, and even explain its theoretical mechanics, but who can't teach anyone else to do it. Somethings each of us have to come to understand in our own time, in our own way, perhaps because each of us has something different that we must let go of in order to experience in the first place. Explaining telepathy for instance is one thing, teaching it to some one else is much more difficult, it seems that in nei gung the opposite is true.
      Good luck.

I can see he has been to the place of this energy awareness through his descriptions.
    To support his perspectives:
Sitting, laying down, or standing does not matter
The method I chose, laying down
My reasoning, standing requires muscular activity in order to remain standing, you can not stand without muscles being active.
By laying down, you have a minimum of muscular activity.
What are the benefits of laying down?
The only muscles active are those required for primal processes, like heart and breath.
Additionally, those muscles that contain tension remain active.
By laying down it is easier to identify the areas where tension resides because you have eliminated, through relaxation, some of the noise which disguises where you need to focus. And the area of focus is to discover where the tension resides, in which muscles.
No matter which method you choose, standing, laying down, or sitting, it takes approximately one year through persistent practice to develop deep relaxation and then the energy awareness.
    Other methods include:
    Patterns for feeling and sensing.
    Physical Body:
This is embodied in, Observe the breath but don’t interfere.
    What temperature is the breath?
Is the breath soft or hard?
    Where does the breath go?
    Observing Patterns of Mental Beliefs
    Mental Body:
You judge the righteous or unrighteousness of arising thoughts.
Spontaneous arising images of violence are unrighteous and require being dealt with.
These are types of feeling and sensing, physical body, mental body, subtle (spiritual) body.
The experience begins with the macrocosm and proceeds towards the microcosm, see.

Being a student of him, I can attest that trying too hard in a practice session can be detrimental to entering the Prana state of effortless flow. You have to be somewhat detached from the process. Often when people get a degree of succes, they become overexcited and try to do too much with the linkage they created to the other person, causing them to lose it.
It gets better with practice and diligence though!

Try to listen to this lecture (and the previous ones as well) again and again....it should help you to get out of the context "MMA is better than TCMA" narrative. It's way too easy to get preoccupied with beating people up. The purpose of these kind of practices is to reach enlightenment, or realize our inherent enlightened nature. The self-defense aspect is only a small part of a much larger system. A real master of internal arts can crack a sidewalk paver, this is a lot more power than just choking someone out or knocking someone out. But having that power is only partway there, we can't be preoccupied with that either.

From my experience and years of practicing and researching this stuff, It seems you can increase the overall energy flow in the body and make it stronger and stronger, leading to good jin. However there seems to be limits to how much you can boost your internal power, its not an infinite ascending progression.
I think what the guy is saying in this video is the energy body already accesses all the energy we will ever need, and the more "oneness" we experience the more we can access that energy from there. Maybe when we gather chi were just accessing what the energy body already has, hence when wang says we dont increase or decrease energy, he means were accessing qi from that energy body, that we don't need to do anything to change it to gain more benefits, just access it.
This is the impression that I got from this video anyways.

Master Wang coined the term zz. It’s he that popularized the standing. In his xing yi chuan of course the stood in San ti shi. But there was no explanation. And as such it was an external practice. Because of the state of the arts at that time,( and as now), is simply externally understood. My teachers father was wangs adopted son. He was there while Wang developed his understanding. It is not externally very relevant. You must have a qualified teacher or it will only be chasing the corpse of zz. Zz is very active inside, active with the vibrant natural state, and it is this state that is the practice. It is a method of kung fu, it is not auxiliary training for something else. Yiquan has zz and Shi li as the method to restore our natural origin.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 2 роки тому

Which Master Wang? Master Wang (as in this video presentation) did not coin the term. It's a modern term for a more ancient system, and the name is credited to Wang Xiangzhai (1885-1963). It's also hard to describe such internal practices without sounding overly metaphysical or just confusingly abstract.

  • @andrewmckay5103

Not true, standing should be daily for years and years, they are th3 gift that just keeps giving, failure to do it, means you loose oneness. This is not true what he is saying about you cannot increase your power or energy, in goes deeper and deeper, there is some truth to what he is saying, but it is not totally correct. Oneness has many layers, it's not a singular in achievement. The oneness is just the beginning, achieving the timelessness of self if much further down the track. He obviously doesn't have all of the gifts collected from Zhan Zhuang, just some of them.

  • @Marco-wq7nn

I do not agree with his view. It is true that when there is the energybody you are aware of it, but still it needs to be trained. It is like strengtening the copperwire so it can carry more energy. Without training the pathways tend to be blocked by inertia. That is why they need opening everytime. The connection with self transcendance is false as transcendence is related to something that cannot increase or decrease. With energy it is not the case, or read the book enter the mo pai.
