Excellent video on rebuilding Moen cartridge. I don't think you should use vaseline lubricant because it is bad on rubber components. Instead, you should use only the silicone based lubricant provided with the repair kit. Also, instead of rebuilding the cartridge, you can provide the model number to Moen customer service and, they will send you a repalcement cartridge free becasue Moen has a lifetime warranty on parts. If you take the old cartridge to Home Depot, they too will give you a replacement free.
Can you let me know thee address where can I buy the kit to repair the Moen faucet. I have 2 in my house exactly like you it became to leaking but I do not know where to buy the kit to repair. Thank you very much.
@@vincer1403 same for WD-40. I just practiced with the old parts and new #60 o-rings, used Assembly Lube. taking it apart again tomorrow with this Kit arrives.
Thanks for making this tutorial. I was able to pull the inside out and found a bunch of sediment stuck inside by the valve.
Good video, I was thinking of doing this with the old one so that I have a "new" one on hand since all the ones in the house must be of similar age

Thank you, I will try that next time, but most issues are due to rust in pipe and they will not cover that.
They always send me new anything for my faucets. Their customer service is really great!@@justbehandy
He was using the moen lubricant which is silicone but mistakingly calling it petroleum.
Clean with Nickel-safe Cleaner, Deep in for 5 minutes, it will clean itself, 1 path cleaner to 10 path of water.
The body looked like it was in good shape. Are you sure you had to change the body?
The body of the valve was ok, I did buy a gasket kit and rebuild the old body and placed it in a plastic bag for the next time this happens.

I have affiliate links in my description below the video, or you can special order from Home Depot and Ace hardware website. Hope that helps.
Soak it in vineger to loosen/ remove the scale.
Never use petroleum jelly on o rings
Could you give a reason why?
@@justbehandy petroleum jelly degrades and expands rubber over time. Plumbers grease is silicone based and does not interact with rubber
Thanks for the pro tip

O-ring will deteriorate even if its not in use.
Even viton?
should have just soaked the valve in a bowl of vinegar/'water..
The o-ring had a cut in it from rust in the line
You sure about that rebuild part number ? I purchased a new valve and decided to rebuild the old one. The instructions refer to rebuild kit # 98040
It's what I used, and comes with the body. 98040 is only o-rings.
.@@justbehandy Thank you
They're are the same rebuild kits with body. 98040 is blister pack found in hardware stores, 96988 is bulk packaging for plumbers@@justbehandy
Do not use petroleum jelly it will swell all rubber pieces
Thanks, but these are not natural rubber orings
seems no matter what lube you use, you have to "Help" the o-rings as you push it in.
