last week it was either they both die or the Baby dies. The Baby would have die because he was stuck in the birth canal. The mom was going to die either way. yeah, I agree the King should have informed her as to what was happening. "we can't save you but there's a chance we can save the baby".

We have to remember that the very first episode Corlys was asking the crown to sort out the crab feeder issue, half a year has passed and the issue still persists. So he goes to someone else who seems to be more action than the king.

i thought it could be greyscale on the king as well too, but now that i think about it, i don't think so. It's incredibly contagious right? if you touch someone with it, they will get it. Plus they're descendants of Valerians, so I'm assuming they would recognize it.
I was thinking maybe he is diabetic. Diabetic wounds have a hard time healing and people lose parts due to infection and that's still true of today. OR someone behind his back is purposely having the aides keep his wounds infected to eventually kill him off without anyone suspecting a thing.

I trust the black Witcher too. Coryls Velaryon may be ambitious but everything he said was right, he was speaking straight facts. Viserys is a good man, but he is a weak King, he allowed his brother to act in defiance without any action being taken people will see Viserys as a weak King and take advantage. I loved the face off with Rhaenyra and Daemon, Rhaepnyra showed them how it was done, she got the egg back without bloodshed.
Knowing what is available to us in the lore, I've been very excited to see how this character was done. I both like the actor choice and the character choices, Corlys Velaryon should be a man who cuts his own path and doesn't take slights to his honor lightly. Steve Toussant is doing a great job, I'm really looking forward to seeing his journey as The Sea Snake.
nothing that shows so far that Corlys is an evil man, but he's power hungry like the rest - Daemon, Otto, Corlys, all have the same hunger for power and the throne. haven't read the books but, I'm already expecting all of them, Corlys included, to do some bad shit to in pursuit of their ends
@@rudy_4ier no offence intended, but it’s a bit arrogant to make assumptions on the characters’ motivations and ambitions that way when you said yourself you haven’t read the books. I’ve read the books and can confidently say that so far the show is doing a great job at sticking loyal to the characters and events that are portrayed in the books (with a few alterations of course but nothing that should change any major plot points still to come). The characters here are all complex and layered and it’s simply too early to assume that everyone is power hungry in the same ways that you’ve described when the set up to the real political conflict is still occurring. No one in this show can be described as plainly good or evil and their actions in this season and the following seasons will show this.

I can understand why the admiral guy (AKA Black Witcher) is pissed. I mean, if pirates started killing my sailors and screwing things up on my turf, I'd be mad too. If I were the king, I'd have sent Daemon and the fleet against them. Give him something to do while we sort things out back home.

I felt bad for Rhaenyra at the end of this episode because she was caught by surprise when her father announced he was marrying Alicent her best friend. I would've ran my ass out of the court room too.
I absolutely feel bad for Rhaenyra as well. Alicent was her best friend, and her dad's been pimping her out to the King, and Alicent broke the girl code big time. Even back then, there was a girl code between friends.

No person would pick away at their cuticles like that unless they were under an extreme amount of pressure. I mean she was literally being forced by her father to “visit” the king. So I highly doubt that she’s carrying out any agenda other than her father’s. Also, the reason she didn’t tell Rhaenyra was probably because she’s very well aware of how that would affect their friendship, and would rather wait as long she could to avoid that inevitable situation.

Nah. Lord Corlys only wants the Crab Feeder (pirates) out his shipping lane. The king won't listen to him so he recruiting Daemon. He don't really want smoke with the king, just his waters cleared out. He was telling the king about dem crabs in the first episode (6 months ago).The king and Corlys wife are favorite cousins. I think black Witcher is playing Daemon for his benefit.
Corlys just handed a bored Daemon another way to anger Otto Hightower and troll his brother King Viserys for being weak.
Daemon loves his family. He won't commit violence against them.
Corlys supported Daemon's decision to deal violently with the criminals last episode. Corlys has recognized that he and Daemon are mutually beneficial if they team up. Viserys can't or won't stop Daemon, and Viserys won't listen to Corlys.

In the books Ser Otto Hightower is like a Tywin Lannister, Alicent Hightower is both a Marjorie Tyrell/Cersei Lannister. Daemon Targaryen is a Jamie Lannister he very unorthodox but loves his family. The reason why Corlys Valyron teams up with Daemon is because Corlys sees what Otto is trying to do. As you can see Otto is pimpin his daughter for him and his family for a higher position. (Just think about Henry the VIII and Thomas Borlen how Tom pimped both of his daughters to Henry the VIII for power and prestige). Okay, so yes the incest stuff is disgusting. However the Targeryens keep their bloodline " pure " so they don't lose the ability to tame and ride dragons. All the Dragon lords of old Valeria did this. For them it's normal to marry their family members. Like the old king was married to his own sister. There are theories as well that the Targeryens are attracted to their own family members because of the blood magic used to make them dragon lords.

I'm cautiously optimistic with the show. I hope they won't deviate waaaaaay too far from the books again, plus Matt Smith and Paddy Considine are killing it as Daemon and Viserys.
GRRM is on board both as consultant and executive producer, so he will have more of a say than he did on GoT. Plus, this particular story already has an end point, so no way to mess it up
First two episodes follow the book well overall. I miss Mushroom though!
