WOWWWWW LOVED IT. What an interesting episode, I am speechless. Lovely rendition by Dr Careem, as always, he seems very happy delivering the facts, such fluency, and he is such an articulate speaker, wowww. Amazing, as always, I have to repeat this, this Dr CAREEM is a TREASURE, lets hope that he too doesn't migrate. All the good historians are abroad, not a single soul that is young, and able to speak so lively on Camera, WITHOUT SEEING A SINGLE SHEET OF PAPER.

I didn't know about this murder, and never heard of half the stories, and never knew there were Burmese. I wonder how does Dr Careem retain such good memory, deliver all the facts with such poise and confidence, and he is undoubtedly the best Historian who can deliver facts in English, that too without a paper chit. He seems very excited and I LOVED the interview as well, please continue this energy !!!

I certainly do agree with you. I am so fascinated with his calm and collective manner and excellent memories of events that took place several decades ago and as well as many centuries equally.
The most intelligent and articulate Historian, I could consider is Dr. Zameer Careem, in this world 🌎.
I’m so proud to be a Sri Lankan after listening to him on so many times and different subjects.
      Thank you 🙏.

I was at the school in Mt. Lavinia, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) where Sao Sai Boonwaat was also a student, albeit one or two years junior to me. Sai is the eldest son of Ambassador Sao Boonwaat (a.k.a. Sao Bunvadvongsa) and his second wife ‘Shirley’ (real name Sao Nang Lao Heung).
Ambassador Sao Boonwaat was previously married to a Burmese woman named Nang Boe Lio. They had a daughter Sao Noot, a.k.a. ‘Susan’, who accompanied her father, stepmother ‘Shirley’, and her three (not two, as Dr. Careem states) half-siblings from Sao Boonwaat’s second marriage, when the Ambassador was posted to Colombo.
Shirley and Susan, separated in age by only a few years, were evidently close friends and companions. The pair were, reportedly, often seen partying together at Colombo nightspots, cocktail functions, etc.
My parents were friends of pianist Rex de Silva, the alleged lover of Shirley Boonwaat, and I remember him well. Rex was always dapper, charming, suave, sporting a goatee beard of a type favoured by jazz musicians back in the day. In addition to playing piano in various bands, he had also served as Assistant Manager of the Musical Instruments Department at Hirdaramani Limited in Chatham Street, Fort.

Dr Careem, just 28 years, but knows in-depth information about everything, from Arabic to Sanskrit, he has profound knowledge about all religions, cultures, medicine etc., and has great fluency in English, and several other languages too. A true gem, and his parents must be very proud. I read that his great-grand dad was Native Equerry to Lord Soulbury, good friend of Lord Mountbatten, still he spoke the truth about how British exploited Burma, and made reference to Lord Mountbatten, and even Queen Victoria.

Dr Careem, proved this week that, "Red bull gives you wingsssss" because he is so excited, happy, and related the stories with such passion. Even in Australia, teachers, particularly those who teach history, are busy snoring away, and are often boring. Looking forward to the next episode, and hope there will be some juicy story next week as well.

Usually in murders like this it's either a jealous spouse or jealous lover..

I was a young boarder in a house down Inner Flower Road, very close to the Boonwatt residence, on the day of this murder. We were very sad how this lady's life got extingished so briefly and cruelly. It seems true that orientals have a maniac sense of possession over their wives!

Judging Sri Lanka from 2020s lenses is as foolish as judging Mongolia from 2020s lenses.
