    Senor Vargas when you cut those big stocks, did you take them all the way down or did you leave them half way cut like in the video?

    • @VargasLandscapingPresents

      In the bird of paradise I pruned, I cut it all the way down to about 1 inch above ground level.

    Our giant bird of paradise is over 50 years old and humongous! Have you ever run into one where the bottom has mounded up, up, up due to lack of regular pruning. Not sure of the best way to prune now because removing the smaller outside stalks leaves the big ones up on a big ugly mound several feet high.

      Hello Diana, the best thing would be to plant around the stock or rhizome and plant ground cover like star jasmine or vinca minor that would grow in between the stocks and will cover the ugly material on the rhizome. Hope this helps!
      When you select the babies, select those that are shorter so you can have more foliage on the bottom of the stocks.

    Hello Mr. Vargas! The one thing I am unsure of is that if I cut the stalk will it grow back? Ours out too high to manage. :(

    • @VargasLandscapingPresents
      @VargasLandscapingPresents  2 роки тому +2

      If you cut the stalk, it will not grow back. Maybe there are babies nearby that will take its place over time. Best of luck!
