I know this video is old and all, but I just wanted to add that the main reason TB and Simon had that falling out was because TB had criticized The Yogscast for not being transparent enough about when they made brand deals back then.
I'm not sure I'd call the Digital Homicide stuff completely pointless, as it did end with Valve removing their shovelware-esque games and seeming to rework their indy game submission process to try and prevent future developers from trying the same tacit of releasing quick and dirty games, or just pallet swapping the same game over and over again, for a quick buck. So it seems like something positive came from it.
Actually, I am very interested on the kind of new information you could spring from that fact, Larry. Surely there's some interesting tidbits regarding Mario 2 (why did they choose specifically that game to turn into Mario, for instance) that not very people are familiar with.

It was like listening to Vicky Pollard out of Little Britain bleating about playground bickering and gossiping. I guess as a little update on the three-way rivalry: TotalBiscuit passed away last year due to cancer, Notch’s name was removed from the very game he created (Minecraft), and the Yogscast have died down drastically in popularity, possibly relating to the video game they pitched, had donated for, then scrapped

There's a moment in Max Payne 2 (they published the game) where in the police station a lady tells a police officer that she's scared of her boyfriend because he plays nothing but violent games and even says "holding a controller is like holding a gun they say" and after the convo ends the officer scoffs and is in disbelief by what she's hearing when she responds with "can you believe that? Seems like Rockstar should've been bumped up to number one in light of recent events. The sad thing is...TotalBiscuit is the only one who didn't really die out. Notch sold Minecraft, the Yogscast got progressively worse and worse at their games for the audience, and TB...is still TB. Still snarky, still harsh on options menus.

Notch use to be really easy to get into contact back in the very early days of minecraft. At some point I was messaging him daily and helping him debug the sponge blocks he hadn't finished yet, which never made it into the final game and only stayed in classic. I offered to help him out pass testing objects in-game for him and he turned me down. This was back when I was trying to get involved with pretty much any indie game coming out at the time. I probably should have continued testing out objects for him and trying to find bugs for him and try again but I didn't. There was a lot of crap he was getting into with people left & right, to be fair most of it was pointless attention seekers. I didn't want public recognition, I just wanted to work on a game and have people enjoy it, I didn't care and still don't if people know me. Notch thought other wise.
The feud was still going on at the time of the video. So much in fact, that Notch was willing to kill, having invested his buyout money into hiring a hitman.

to be fair Notch's doesn't seem that petty, Minecraft is at it's core a family friendly game. If scrub scammers like the yogscast are gonna damage the brand in one way or another he has every right to be annoyed.
I missed the whole Sterling/DH debacle, but I saw his video after the thing had been settled, and man, was it satisfying to watch.
I guess as a little update on the three-way rivalry: TotalBiscuit passed away last year due to cancer, Notch’s name was removed from the very game he created (Minecraft), and the Yogscast have died down drastically in popularity, possibly relating to the video game they pitched, had donated for, then scrapped

Speaking on Rockstar. There's a moment in Max Payne 2 (they published the game) where in the police station a lady tells a police officer that she's scared of her boyfriend because he plays nothing but violent games and even says "holding a controller is like holding a gun they say" and after the convo ends the officer scoffs and is in disbelief by what she's hearing when she responds with "can you believe that? Apparently guns don't kill people, Video games do" which obviously is a shot at the media for them blaming Games like GTA for encouraging criminal activity.

Seems like Rockstar should've been bumped up to number one in light of recent events. Sure, attempting to sue everyone who has ever come in contact with your game is bad; but what about out right ruining a game four years after its release? *Destroying* one of the greatest modding playgrounds ever conceived?
I always try to watch Guru Larry's videos as soon as possible. They are such a treat!
The sad thing is...TotalBiscuit is the only one who didn't really die out. Notch sold Minecraft, the Yogscast got progressively worse and worse at their games for the audience, and TB...is still TB. Still snarky, still harsh on options menus.

Larry, if you ever talk about rise and fall of UA-camrs, you could talk about the Escapist: Don't know the details, but they used to have a diverse library of content creators on their wing, with Yahtzee Croshaw at the front, but a particular thread on their forums caused mass banning and a lot of the creators had a fallout, leaving only Zero Punctuation and its spin-offs to populate their channel, even worse the site keeps getting attacked by hackers.
If you have any info, can you PM me please, I was looking to do a second episode and The Escapist would make a great addition! Never been too fond of them, they've been riding the coat tails of Yahtzee to remain relevant for years.

I wish I could, but I can't. All I know is that there was a Gamergate forum thread that kicked everything into motion. Since some of their former creators are a bit controversial whenever they got political, it's basically a game of connecting the dots.

Notch use to be really easy to get into contact back in the very early days of minecraft. At some point I was messaging him daily and helping him debug the sponge blocks he hadn't finished yet, which never made it into the final game and only stayed in classic. I offered to help him out pass testing objects in-game for him and he turned me down. This was back when I was trying to get involved with pretty much any indie game coming out at the time. I probably should have continued testing out objects for him and trying to find bugs for him and try again but I didn't. There was a lot of crap he was getting into with people left & right, to be fair most of it was pointless attention seekers. I didn't want public recognition, I just wanted to work on a game and have people enjoy it, I didn't care and still don't if people know me. Notch thought other wise.
