  • I got some MICRO TROUTS for my new 20 gallon aquarium! Will these Brook Trouts grow too big for my fish tank?
    Just kidding :) These are Celestial Pearl Danios also known as the Galaxy Rasbora. I love these micro fish because they are so bright and colorful. I love the spots on the side of their bodies too! Don't you think they look somewhat similar to the Brook Trout?

    Celestial Pearl Rasbora (danio) are danios, not salmonidae. they may look vaguely like brook trout or arctic char, but they aren't even close to the same family. All the same, they are very beautiful fish in their own right, and well worth keeping.
    Brook trout have a white next to black next to orange pattern on their fins and on their lower sides. The colour on the CPD is in a different order. On the sides of the brook trout there are spots which have a red centre with a purplish ring around it (RAF fish? LOL) They also have vermiculations on their backs which are absent in the CPD.
    That description being given, I can see why you think that the Celestial Pearl Danio looks like a brook trout, and to be honest, I have also noted the similarity. It is for that reason that I keep CPD's. They remind me of the brookies which swam (and probably still do swim) in the creek which ran past the little log cabin which I grew up in. Their behaviour is different, and their colours aren't an exact match, but they are close enough to remind me of my childhood years when my mum and dad would walk down to the creek and come back ten minutes later with fresh brook trout for supper.

    did you get something from the fish store for the floating plants, or did you Just give them away for free?

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  5 років тому

      No, I just give it away since its not worth much. The fish store sells a bag of those plants for 50 cents to a dollar.

  • @brandonellis4422
    @brandonellis4422 4 роки тому

    What kind of floating plants were those?

  • @zhilianglucasteo7387
    @zhilianglucasteo7387 5 років тому

    that's a good way to feed the galaxy rasboras. I realised despite giving them very small pellets, they tend to spit them out a few times before consuming them (probably due to the hardness of the pellets). And when they spit out, other fishes could have taken the food. Will try the method with mine tonight.

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  5 років тому

      Yes, they do spit food out and that why I make the food really micro so that it’s easy for them to eat :) the other way to get them to eat is to feed them live baby brine shrimp or daphnia which can be a bit of a hassle to do

    • @RickyRanchu
      @RickyRanchu 5 років тому

      @@RyoWatanabee Not really. But they will eat a lot of uneaten food that the fish can't get which could prevent some algae. For hair algae you could use amano shrimp, Siamese Algae Eater (aggressive and jumper), florida flagfish, or black molly

    If you are into trout-like fish, I recommend looking into leopard danios and trout goodeids, since they resemble real trouts even more than CPDs

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  5 років тому

      I’ve never seen a goodeid here in singapore. I think they are uncommon here and I’m not into danios haha. I just like the coloration of the CPd’s :)

    • @paul-robinfranz9272
      @paul-robinfranz9272 5 років тому

      Ok, seems to be like goodeids are kind of a US-thing, cause even here in Germany (were you can get basically any fish) I haven't seen a lot of them. But yeah, CPD are just total stunners and I think they perfectly suit your tank :D

  • @SuperHooverdam
    @SuperHooverdam 5 років тому

    Love CPD and used to have some. There’s an LFS that used to be real good at carrying multiple and various items, but new owners succumbed to big box mentality and became drab with its selections.

    I was wondering what the heck are micro trouts when I saw the title for this video until I watched it and got the answer to my question.And yeah they do look a little like mini Brook Trouts when you look at it.
    Also,you rams looks amazing.I tried to keep butterfly rams before but failed so I kept the more hardy Bolivian Rams instead which in my opinion look more like miniature Geophagus than the Butterfly Rams.

      @@RyoWatanabee As long as your rams are eating well and not picky eaters,and I think they will be fine.On the topic of feeding which you also stated in your video,my fish usually get the same kind of fish food every day but will also est other kinds.However they usually seem to prefer Sera San or Sera Vipan over other brands.I notice that when I feed them generic repacked flake foods,they leave a lot of leftovers but they never leave anything behind when I feed them Sera brand fish food.
