Unlike many recent Star Wars titles, The Great Circle doesn’t feel like a re-skin of existing games. Instead, it’s a fully unique adventure built around the iconic character of Indiana Jones, delivering something fresh and exciting. While I’ve enjoyed games like Jedi: Survivor and have even defended Star Wars Outlaws, it often feels like they’re trying to fit into a pre-existing mold.
If only they didn't cancel the rest of Battlefront 2 and Battlefront 3...
Battlefront 3 would be awesome.
@@darthbedlammasterofdueling4519Said literally every single Star Wars fan
We had all that before the dark times
Imagine full clone customization
@@Cat_Blade i hate that, the Armor should fit the Planet
Saying this Indiana Jones game could’ve been a Tomb Raider or Uncharted knock off is a bit ironic. Since both those games were clearly inspired by the former.
THIS
Yup, this bothers me when people say this
I was just gonna write this comment myself if I didn't saw yours. 👍
We did get Jedi Survivor and Fallen Order....Respawn are doing great
Yes, please, let's just focus on the positive for once.
Agreed. Those games are brilliant.
@@khyrianstorms Exception proves the rule
dark souls with a star wars skin
@@Hannex433 jedi games are nowhere near as hard as dark souls lmao
How disney works on projects starts with how much money they want to make, then they figure out how hard they need to work concerning how valuable the IP is.
I never understood why there weren't like a dozen Indiana Jones games up to this point. I mean, there were back in the old days but not much this century. Such a perfect IP to make games for and probably a LOT cheaper to license than Star Wars is for game developers.
We had several Lego ones
@@kon-lun-os-kuh-pee571 I don't really count Lego games. They're more parody of an IP than anything.
Part of the reason I feel, was Uncharted was there to scratch the itch.
Really my question was what the gameplay would be. And first person beat ‘em up honestly works so well. The puzzles are also really fun.
If you want something original don't ask Ubisoft to do the job.
Lol
You need to be fair they did a lot original but today it is hard to come up with realy New stuff
Originality is overrated... Ubisoft's problems are deeper than that.
I would like to see a Star Wars game similar to battlefront 2, or a strategy game version of Star Wars, or perhaps one similar to the idea of fallen order and survivor where it explores a specific storyline (adding to canon and providing a fresh story to tell in an interesting and unlimited way).
Empire at war
We had all that, then the mice came
There is a tactical game in the works. We don't know much about it yet though.
@@shankarban1135but it’s a total war game so it’s probably not gonna be a good game. The last total war games were a pain in the ass
@@_byron_0 I know it’s not popular either, but company of heroes had very nice game mechanics that had a nice level of focus at the tactical level controlling units and their different strengths and abilities. The Italian campaign map was also cool, despite the frustrations people felt towards it, because it enabled a different focus in-game at the operational and strategic levels. Imagine controlling squads of stormtroopers of different abilities, building fortifications, and calling in vehicles. Not sure how heroes could work. They might be something like ‘reinforcements’ from battlefront 2 or shouldn’t be a feature at the tactical. Maybe they are selected before hand and have different buffs and passive abilities.
Every since Death Stranding came out I've wanted a Star Wars game where you play as a smuggler and you have to do things like weight management, defense weaponry, etc for your customizable ship and smuggle cargo around a sector who's infrastructure you have to rebuild after some big battle or something. Hell maybe they could tie into the High Republic and say you're smuggling supplies to various worlds in the Nihil Storm Wall. Basically a whole game that plays like the Kessel Run scene in Solo with you evading various natural obstacles and enemy ships, rebuilding beacons, finding new routes through asteroid fields, etc.
That sounds overly complicated and completely unappealing to 90% of the people who want to buy a Star Wars game.
@@Norcat10 not really
The game is amazing. I have spent 7-8 hours exploring the vatican alone solving mysteries. It is absolutely a gem of a game. 11/10.
The licensing for star wars costs too much for developers to create games in general, never mind experiment with new game styles.
Do we have Disney to thank for that? Wouldn’t Lucasfilm have been fairer??
We used to have dozens of star wars games and they were so different like kotor, force unleashed, Jedi academy and battlefront just to name 4 insanely successful and different games it’s all Disney’s fault we don’t have this anymore
yeah its really unfortunate since it cuts off all the possible passionate developers that could create a new and unique star wars game yet the only companies that can afford the title are the soulless companies that push out slop
@@doubleupload5620Not really, during the 2000s game development was cheap and there more AA studios that you could source for a licensed game. Now that’s not really the case anymore.
@@chaz2187 Disney I believe. I remember reading somewhere that once the existing licensing agreements for LucasFilm IP's to other companies signed prior to the Disney buyout expire, such as LEGO, Disney ups the rate significantly for a new deal as LucasFilm's rates were lower than Disney's.
The main critic I saw against SW Outlaws was that Ubisoft had already years of experience with stealth mechanics thanks to Assassin's Creed, and they fail so much that in their steam release fix they just took out the stealth, one of the main features of the game.
They definitely went for a outside the box approach for that new Indiana Jones game, I'm glad it's successful because of that and being a fun experience.
Squadrons was amazing, just too niche. too hardcore. But overall amazing
Outlaws was just.... it wasn't enough. I hated too how you couldn't get a hat
They want to make a Star Wars game outside of the Skywalker 3 trilogy template they keep working to. I played Jedi Fallen Order. Wasn't bad. But when I realised the story was about finding young Jedi hiding from the Empire I instantly thought "well, this plot is gonna be a waste of time!" Becsuse we all know how A New Hope begins. Make something new that breaks away from the Skywalker saga. Personally I'd welcome a new KOTOR with open arms
it will never do better as long as Darth Kennedy rules the empire. It needs a full cleanup
Yeah, the Star Wars games are great, Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, those games, because all other SW games and not even Lego SW are that good or interesting nowadays.
They nailed it with this game, it does feel exactly like Indy
To be fair this is the game that has that cutscene on the ship which is like a full on movie.
Idk id say the Jedi duo are pretty unique and feel like original games. Obviously they take elements from other games but idk.
Except you can easily boil them down to one word: Soulslite.
@@PyroOfZen well yeah you can boil most games down to that cause its a word without meaning..
@@PyroOfZenexcept they don’t really share a lot with fromsoft games
@PyroOfZen
Except they're a lot more fun to play than most souls games.
Also what is so wrong with using a similar playstyle? Exploration and combat that rewards quick reflexes and patience instead of agressiveness is a perfect fit for a Jedi story.
Not to mention you play them for the story and world not the bloody gameplay.
@airrider-jk9ik they share the genre and overall structure with that meditation points and enemies respawning. That's exactly fromsoft mechanics
They essentially just added npc interactions in the second game and lowered the difficulty, also removed loot outside of cosmetic purposes, which (for me) made them more entertaining, so the comparison is pretty on point
But I still feel lost potential if they reintroduced jedi academy mechanics and update them. They were pretty unique and perfectly portrayed lightsaber battles where every other slash which isn't blocked will end you OR the enemy. Pretty much like the modificator for survivor, but also with much more fine control over your movements
Star Wars Contents: *Hello There!*
i miss the days of being a star wars fan in the early 2000s there was a game for everyone
Pleaseee more Indy comics! An Indy animated show! Pleasee
Battlefront 2 at least is somewhat unique in how it combines infantry vehicles and heroes in large scale combat in the same game.
Indiana Jones hasnt gotten much in my Imo I enjoy this so much
The Great Circle works because it's a standalone that fits a bit well with the original trilogy of Indiana Jones films (sure, there's an expanded universe, but I'm no one misses much pathos and bathos in skipping it), while the Jedi games and Squadrons... do I need to also watch The Acolyte, read the Aftermath trilogy, and play Battlefront 2 2017 to know the bloody flawed lore?!?
As an aside, I'm still more biased for LucasArts' Fate of Atlantis. Also, really wish MachineGames Finishes the Fight with their Wolfenstein saga, even if it means ironing out the excess of The New Colossus and decanonizing Youngblood.
What a steaming shit take.
You don't need any of that to enjoy the Jedi games. They are standalone. At best you get a few nods here and there for the actual lore fans.
I know why squadrons was dead on arrival but guys, it’s a great game.
Narrator Voice: They didn't do that
Not much of a star wars fan but if I had to pick a studio to make a game for the series, surprisingly I'd pick Tayon. You've probably never heard of them but they are a small AA game studio who've worked on a solid terminator game and a really good Robocop game in the past 5 years. They are a touch janky but the passion is there. Both of there previous games lovingly recreate environments from the movies and tell story's which are directly connected to the films they are based on. In fact both of them have made for better third instalments of there franchises than the actual third movies. I'm sure if they were given the key's to star wars they'd manage to make something work.
Get Bethesda to do a star wars game
I think I just miss Lucasarts.
Star Wars eclipse will bring something new
Can we get a Wolfenstine game but Star Wars? Like have our MC be a member of Saw Guerera’s Crew and we go around fucking up various Imperial Locations.
We need a continuation of the KOTOR series! With modern capabilities, you would not be able to surpass the potential that KOTOR has...
My dream Star Wars game would be an open world made by Monolith, they've already made what's effectively the best single player star wars game out there without having the brand on it
This game is a solid 7/10. The recent Star Wars games barely scrape a 5 AT MOST.
Lead Machine Games make a Star Wars game like the Mandalorian
They keep trying to rehash the OT and it's irritating. We need new characters in a new era with new stories.
If great circle was a star wars game, everyone would hate it because there are either no lightsabers, Blasters or Spaceships
Completely agreed 👍🏼
The Old Republic was a very good game...
Outlaws unfortunately suffered the Ubisoft treatment
There could have been better and more games for Star Wars but I'm probably enjoying most of what we got
Maybe star wars Eclipse could be something like this but the release date is 2027-2030 so we need to wait,
I just want the Nathen drake collection on steam
When you let game developers stretch themselves and be creative and imaginative and make the games that they want to make... honestly you're mostly going to get crap.
Mostly.
Because there will be very small percentage of games that will be immortal. That will be remembered and beloved forever.
What’s even more frustrating is that this game probably won’t sell well (i’d like to be proven wrong) and the horrible Star Wars games will sell lore
The jedi games are amazing... and the great circle is a Dishonored clone.
It's still great, but i don't think it's any more original than SW games.
Where SW needs to improve is in TV and Movies.
REPUBLIC COMMANDO 2
We need the creators of call of duty to develop a first person shooter Star Wars game after respawn
We were close to getting a mandalorian first person shooter game, but that never happened unfortunately.
Not going to happen, COD makes more money on its own that Star Wars could ever get.
GIVE ME A MACHINE GAMES STAR WARS GAME. LUCASARTS REALLY NEEDS TO GET ON THAT XBOX TRAIN
We had all the best games before the dark times
Wild take: battlefront 2015 is pretty fire
Um how was Star wars squdrions dead on arvail at all? It has a massive community that still deeply bloved the game and even a small portian who still pay it today! Which it's still by far the best Star wars space sim outside of the tie fighter/Vs X-wing games and easly the best if you prefore it over the older titkles.. Also it's one iof the very masterpieces and I dare asy perfect games EA has made ever even if it's painfully AA and has so much room for growth... But EA just wanted to make it to make it... Give the peale who loved their battlefront star fighter content and gove us an actually game with it... We rewarded them with a massivle under rated sleeper success and they gifted us updates they didn't plan on as a thank you for working as a comunty... Publisher and their audnce as it should be... Also all AA EA games tend to have this path... EA makes it to make it... people love it so it's amqssive sleeper hit... Then everyonme mioved happy ever after on remembering what great times we had and how the game is still alive an playable not dead at all... I mean I don't we including EA like the system but alot of the great one off games in gaming history spawn from this relationship.. Spore comes to mind... So yeah the system works if you hate these games we love and complain Devs and publishes need to take more risks... Escuse me? Like my guy why do you think EA would ever make AA games uf not to take riskes with games people want but may not success at AAA level?
Wow, it's almost like EA canceled a first-person shooter star wars game that was being developed by.....oh yeah, respawn
EA STAR WARS GAMES ARE BEING MIXED WITH UBISOFT ONE STAR WARS GAME
yeah u should has included jedi survivor and fallen order as good games
Critical acclaim doesn't necessarily equal profit.
I enjoyed Star Wars Outlaws, but had the same thoughts while playing the Indiana Jones game. If only Outlaws was done to THIS level of polish, it would have blown everyone away. The two games are actually quite similar, they're stealth rather than combat based (ie sneaking up behind guards to subdue them) with lots of platformer-style traversal, loot-finding and the progression is not that dissimilar. I'm at 25hrs into the Indiana Jones game and the missions still feel fresh and curated. By this point in Outlaws, you'd done a zillion missions that were exactly the same.
I agree. They can literally do this game, but with Star Wars playing as Luke Skywalker shortly after Return of the Jedi as he tracks down Palpatines various hidden vaults and jedi/sith temples to uncover their secrets.
Why does my Indiana Jones game have more historical accuracy than my call of duty games?
Because Indiana jones is a series based around history and I meant to be historically accurate. Like what kind of comment even is this…..
It’s like saying why does my cod game have more explosions that starred valley…..
@AgentOrangeHLLE I don't think you watched the films if you think Indiana Jones is historically accurate.
it is receiving critical acclaim....
why no mention about the fans huh?
Defender of Outlaws? oh no.
It's just a generic ubislop game, they aren't bad just painfully bare bones
After Outlaws and Starfield you got me fucked up if you think I'm touching anything Star Wars or Bethesda! I wouldn't care if Elder Scrolls 6 or Battlefront 3 dropped right now I ain't touching that shit 😂
The game seems fine in general. Except for Troy Baker's portrayal of Indy. It's too uncanny and he can't seem to deliver the swagger and sarcasm of the character very well.
Honestly it be nice if the the MC of the games were someone from the actaul films or shows instead a OC who half the time is just a copy a charcter from the the film. I mean Makr hamil is down to clown so so why not make a Luke game. That being said since this game was good they could make starwars game lie it since in the comics there a character named Dr.Aphra who basicaly indy but is he was Asian Anti hero Lesbin who lived in the starwars universe.
The reason why that happens is that if you take a character from the films you’re limited to either filling in gaps between films. With an OC you’re able to do what ever you want.
Han Solo and The Lost Planet (coming soon)
Not really
They are doing better it's called Skeleton Crew but noone is watching because its COOL to hate.
They need to stop with Jedi. They're mostly all dead.... just tell to cool side stories that has NOTHING to do with Jedi or Sith.
Am I crazy to think this Indiana jones game looks MID as fuck?
Having the game in first person makes me not want to buy it.
That's massive what is this
It would be cool if we got a Star Wars RPG, in the Style of Persona 5 or Final Fantasy. I think Star Wars would easily fit the Turned Based Or Action RPG genre, considering it’s been influential for various RPG video games, like Final Fantasy, and also Xenoblade.
*cough* *_KOTOR_* *ahem*
(haven't played any of the games you mention, BTW)
You mean like KOTOR
@@johnb2422 No, not like KOTOR. I mean like a traditional RPG… like Final Fantasy, or Persona 5.
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios
So like KotoR
@ I just said not like KOTOR.
I feel like the Emperor's Tomb game was the template for Uncharted.
outlaws is inexcusable how do you defend that they called that pile of shit the first AAAA game what an utter joke
Aside from the respawn games, the best Star Wars game I’ve played recently is Starfield with a bunch of cosmic mods to change guns, outfits, text, sound effects, and NPCs to Star Wars stuff. Playing that in third person is for the most part what I had hoped Outlaws would be like and I’m that so much more
First person Uncharted.
It's nothing like Uncharted. It revolves around slow-paced stealth and exploration, not dangling from a bus falling out of the back of an exploding airplane every 5 seconds.
Both are dead franchises at this point.
Star Wars is dead. We had a good run.
Ah huh, critics adored “Outlaws” “Dustborn” and “Veil guard” too.
Do you really think there is a massive plot to make the game seem good? Do you really think Disney's paying off randoms in comment sections to lie about this game? You accuse everyone else of lying while you yourself are actively getting lied to by culture war outrage farmers, for example the infamous force is female shirt, this was nothing more than pandery garbage at a Nike event with KK just invited because she's a woman in charge of a big franchise that's it. Not some big political statement just a throwaway line on a t shirt, the funny part is that every "KK kicked my dog" conspiracy theory is based on this one nothing burger image
Outlaws isn't awful, just meh with typical ubisoft dlc bs
@@dillydrawsexactly, it's just the usual basic ubislop
@@ledinyourwalls Plot? No, Disney among others have been nailed paying off “official critics”. IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes in particular have been nailed for fudging the numbers. Outlaws was originally offered broken, buggy as hell and at a massive price point compared to other AAA games. Personally I have no patience for games being released broken, especially at a premium price point. I was one of the poor bastards who got Cyberpunk on early access. Well as a guy who played the tabletop that game was based on I was pissed! If CDPR had spent less time letting you customize your genitals and more time seeing to it corpses did not interact with cars the same way a jersey barrier does……. Saying this as a gay guy, “diversity and inclusion” sit waaaaaay behind things like, control interface, collision detection, AI, sprite interaction, game play loops, ect. I had 35 minutes in outlaws and I had a half dozen bugs to report, yet the “critics” could only rave. There are two immutable laws Disney ignored for a good while to their detriment.
The first rule of entertainment: “Give the people what they want.”
The first rule of business: “The customer is always right”. There have been many excellent Star Wars games over the years. “Outlaws” is not one of them.
I don’t think any actual review sites reviewed dustborn
Outlaws legit should've been like payday, imo we didn't need more single player Sw games
Indy pc game...is a big shit. not worth the money
Defender of SW Outlaws? Lol
outlaws isn't bad, just painfully basic You'd probably find something to enjoy out of it, but don't buy it anywhere near retail, wait for it to be put on a heavy discount 5-10$ would be all you should pay for it
