Beautiful ride as always! Thanks and we’ve had such heavy hearts for Lahaina residents. We’ve been at Front street many years on vacation and still cannot believe what happened. Love & prayers.

Agree that most folks these days don't understand hand signals. Almost every time I approach an intersection with a car looking to pull out and turn left I'll signal that I'm going to make a right turn and they just sit there and watch like they think I'm going to go straight when they could have turned with no problem. The slight wobble when Mark took both hands of the steering could have been due to his pedaling but also could be a sign that the toe in needs to be adjusted.

Funny about those hand signals, the kids of today don’t have a clue. Yes, I think I cured Mark from going hands free. Yes, we were going about 12 mph at the time and he was pedaling. I don’t have the problem on my trike, primarily because it’s much heavier I think. Happy triking.

SENA helmets have intercom so one can easily talk to a riding companion

Thanks Bruce, good idea. Yesterdays ride Mark forgot his air pods otherwise we would have used our iPhones for the ride. I’ve used it with another rider and it works pretty good. There is a slight delay which is only an issue when they are close up next to you. All good. Aloha 🤙🏽

I have a fews questions about recumbent bikes. I use to ride a rowbike which had a low center of gravity much like a recumbent. I developed a double hernia, after the surgery it's not a good idea to be cranking on a rowbike which is a incredible workout. If you are not aware a rowbike is a actual bicycle that you row. I am thinking about buying a recumbent, first question it looks like it's not much of a workout. Am i mistaken ? When riding do you notice a lot of pressure or pulling on your lower abdominal muscles ? Not good for my situation if so. Lastly is it possible to purchase a recumbent for under 1500 dollars ? I'm not wealthy ! Thanks. Good riding to you.

Aloha Doug. Good questions. Comparing a regular bike to a recumbent trike, I get more cardio exercise on a trike. I ride more often, longer. I’m in better physical and mental shape on a recumbent. Much less strain on my shoulders, arms, my back, and neck as well as the problems with your entire body sitting a skinny saddle. No, I don’t feel a strain in my abdomen at all. Sorry, I don’t think you can get a decent trike for under $3000. A used recumbent trike might be the approach. I rebuilt the used trike in this episode adding a $1500 pedal assist motor to a 10 year old trike I bought for $1000. Good luck and happy riding.

@@hawaiiantrike-surfkayakAfter getting your answers I think I will wait until I can afford one for 3000 grand. I was considering a cheap one that the chain was attached directly to the front wheel for 500 dollars. I had a feeling it was junk. It was one speed. I suppose a person could buy one and go very slowly. From my past experiences you get what you pay for. Thanks for your reply !
