Rick Miller is my favorite guitarist/ songwriter and Mary Huff is my favorite Behs player of all time. Southern Culture on the Skids is a great band. If you don't like Scots, then I question your humanity
these guys use to play a lot in my hometown ... they put on really great fun concerts. Definitely have their own alt-rockabilly sound. Thanks for sharing...brings back memories of the 90s summertime listening to SCS.
I will add my thanks to the others below. I am somebody who was recommended SCOTS by a friend in the 1990s but I was finishing my education then and starting my career and never checked them out until recently and I am now an avid fan of the band. If you can find this album for sale it is generally from foreign sources and very expensive as it should be since it is so rare. Thanks for making it possible for me to hear the entire evolution of this very unique band.
I heard they started out as a Cramps cover band. That's evident after listening to these primitive recordings. If that's even Rick's vocals, he's affecting them to sound eerie, a la Lux Interior.
I briefly dated the original bass player, Leslie, way back in the 80's when I was living in Greenville, NC. She worked at a record store in Raleigh and it was an awesome few months. Rick was a laid back, intense dude and Stan was kind of a dick.
I'm trying to figure out where I dig tunnels ends and Psycho surfing begins....and listening to it several times, I just can't be sure. This is very strange to me--normally, I have little trouble telling, even if it's more like crossfaded, but that short bit just before I'm certain Psycho Surfing has started, it could be part of either song. I've searched for anything that might list the track lengths, but the best I can find is simple lists of the tracks. This really is a rarity, this album--I found one listing for a copy selling on Amazon, but this YT video is the only accessible copy. My wife and I went to see these guys perform at Mabel's in Champaign, IL in the late 90s. Rick told the audience that he wished he could be here in a couple of weeks, because Link Wray was scheduled to perform there, but they had their tour to continue, so he couldn't be there. Until he mentioned him, I wasn't really aware of Link Wray, but I learned more about him, bought a couple records, and took one to his show and got his autograph on it. That was one fantastic show. A few years later, SCOTS played in my town again, only at a different venue, that's where I picked up my copy of Double Wide and Live. I was puzzled by the lack of studio albums at the time...but I've learned very recently that, because Plastic Seat Sweat didn't sell as well as they wanted, the record company made demands which the band turned down. Glad things have turned around.

I dig tunnels is one of the darkest cool wacky songs in the league with the classic 1968 song PSYCHO!
Thanks for sharing this! Quite poignant and scarce.
:)

MosriteFlyinFingers, the vocals on this track are Stan Lewis.
@@mosriteflyinfingers9252 Nope, not Rick, some guy named Stan
