The last VW Beetle convertible made in Germany left the Karmann plant in Osnabrueck, Germany in Jan. 11, 1980 for the American market. The 1978-79 Beetles were all convertibles and produced at the Karmann Ghia plant in Osnabrueck. I still have my 1979 with 65,000 miles on it. Mine is one of the last bug made in Germany because I have an official birth certificate that shows if left Germany on Jan. 9, 1980.
