I’m not sure how I missed this video when you released it! I’d get the sealed LED capsules if you do change these. Don’t mess with the separate lens/housing and then LED lamp. The light is spread waaaaay out with those.
Thanks for the heads up. More than likely I will be upgrading lights to something like you've mentioned. I only bought these Silverstars because I needed something ASAP from a local parts store. These are better than the stock bulbs that were in there, so I'll just let these run for a while. I have a ton of other things to do on this car that has a higher priority. But yes, when I revisit the headlights I will be looking at the sealed LED style. Thanks for watching Mike!
Apparently led and housings can be good if you buy high quality versions of both. You need a good brand housing that actually aims it properly with a halogen bulb, unlike a lot of the cheapest. Secondly you need an LED bulb replacement that has small chips in the same location as the original filaments - then it can be good. Unfortunately people like to cheap out on one or both and blind everyone else while they can barely see better thanks to shit beam pattern. Best to go for a proper brand sealed beam LED module like Grote, JBSpeaker, TruckLite, or go with a good ol' Philips led.
LED's look completely out of place on any vehicle before 2005. Kudos to you for going with the sealed beams! All the LED fanboys act like anything else is crap, which you have proved isn't the case here.
I frequent the parts houses, servicing my old vehicles, and I can't recommend the Sylvania Silver Star bulbs enough. It's near a literal night vs day difference between them and the basics. There's another option for people who use the older sealed-beam headlights though, where it's an OE LED (also from Sylvania), something I've been considering for my 1970 C10, but I haven't seen any videos on the product.
Glad that you're happy about the SilverStars. Only thing I'll mention is that in all my experiences when using them on several cars. They're a much better performing bulb, both in light output and beam pattern. But they do have a much shorter lifespan. The plethora of conversion options out there is nearly endless for those who want something of the sort. personally I'm in the same opinion as you that these are the best bang for the buck. IF someone is going to do a conversion (considering that most LED and HID kits aren't properly housed and aimed, causing them to have a lot of glare that is dangerous for on-coming traffic) My configuration of choice is the HELLA E-Coded housings with a high quality H4 bulb.
I agree with you. I've used SilverStars on several other cars, but never a sealed beam style. As you know, touching the actual bulb can decrease it's lifespan, so I was curious about these sealed beams to see if they last any longer. I honestly don't expect them to last longer than a year, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. Prior to getting these, I was looking at the conversion kit that MOSS offers. They provide the Ecoded housing, H4 bulb and the rubber dust boot to keep moisture and dirt out of the housing. I may still get them, but not for another year. I'll get my money's worth from these SilverStars first.
Light production is definitely better with the Silverstar and the beam pattern is very nice. One thing to remember though, Yellow light cuts through fog to a greater extent, one of the reasons "good" fog lights are yellow instead of clear. Not sure what kind of fog you get up there so it might be a nill issue.

I also picked up some sylvania silver star lamps for my 04 jeep wrangler, huge improvement from the old halogen lights. good spready and nice color
Awesome video. I appreciate little reviews and installations like this. Not much on youtube.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I wanted an honest review of a product that anyone can pick up locally.

The only good looking LEDs sealed beams have to be the Holley retrobrite.. and you better have a damn nice car to warrant their price.

I have used two sets of the 6054's and got about 1600-1800 hours out of them as a rough approximation.

Silverstars do look nice 👍👍👍👍👍
this will be my next upgrade
albertotron74 Cool! It’s easy and somewhat affordable. Not as bright as HID or some LEDs, but definitely an improvement over stock.
For jeep the distance is 25 feet.
I told you no good would come from that hole into a parallel universe you have in your front drive 😜
You were sooooo right. I should have listened.
Those do high and low Beam?
Same dam headlite for my 78 datsun 620
