    I installed the Afeax on my 1998 Ford F800 tow truck, and the low beam pattern is extremely usable with grate pattern and sharp cutoff. Of course adjusting them properly is key. High beam is incredible. Build quality is very good. Purchased a second pair to install on my 1985 Toyota truck

    I bought the Truck-Lites about 5years ago for my motorhome. At the time they were the best available and they make the custom headlights for Peterbuilt, Kenworth, and I believe Volvo. You are absolutely correct about the high beam. On coming vehicles would flag me from over a mile away. I will never need driving lights.

      @@HeadlightRevolution Useful content! Any easy I could get your contact info? I have a question regarding my 2001 e46 BMW halogen bulbs. Do you recommend a kit to replace all four stock halogens? I live in rural new England and you know the rest. I want the best plug and play option so I can order and connect without much effort? Maybe a recommendation on a whole interior kit replacement option?

    There was one option in particular that I didn't see here (or in really any other comparisons for 5x7s) but wish someone would give a direct comparison with, and that is the Hella H4 conversion buckets. I've been running them in one of my vehicles with some stout H4 halogens and they are awesome, but was wondering how they would stack up against LED conversions like these if they had some H4 LED bulbs inside them. Maybe keep that in mind next time you do a round up like this.

    • @contagiousingenuityagency5273
      @contagiousingenuityagency5273 3 роки тому +1

      Agreed, another often overlooked option most people opt in for but is missing in those comparisons.

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 роки тому +8

      Sounds like a halogen option - we specifically wanted to make a video showcasing all the LED headlights - NOT NECESSARILY to sell anything, but because we knew that there were a ton of really scary unsafe options being sold all over the place. People need someone to warn them. So, for all the LED options, here you go. I agree though that the Hella H4 conversion buckets are a great route. Don't necessarily even have to review them, I'll just tell you right now they are solid if that's the type of tech you're after.

    • @gaugeprower
      @gaugeprower 3 роки тому +6

      Agreed I'd love to see a comparison using some Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0's in the h4 conversion, and I mean while we're at it, maybe a Morimoto Mini H1 retrofit using 2Stroke 3.0 H1 bulbs.

      I have these in my van with Phillips LED plug and play bulbs. They work great. Just need to make sure theyre adjusted properly. They dont do well in snow as it builds up on the lights because the glass isnt hot, unlike with halogens. Can probably fix this with some rainx or something similar.

      Those H6054BL Brite-Lites were nice...for what they were...They had 80° beam spread vs 34° on a standard H6054 - I had issues with getting them broke (I was too stupid back then to buy stone guards) - So I bought HP6054's (Plastic ones) they were not as good of spread, but lasted longer... Later went with E-Code Hella's 80/100W H4 and Stone guards!

    Great shootout Chris! Nice 2nd part to your original 5x7 shootout a few years ago. (Same with your 4x6 shootouts)
    I do agree that the Morimoto came in as a dud from what was expected. In their rollout they called it a game changer, named JW Speaker and Truck-lite and came out with big numbers. Was expecting like a wall of light....ahhh nope. Not for that price. I bought the Truck-lite (27450c) maybe 4 years ago, great light! I called Truck-lite yesterday after watching this video, asking if they had updated or changed the light (27450c) in this video in the last 4 years, guy said no it was the same. But he did tell me some interesting news.. Truck-lite will be releasing a new 5X7 any day now, part # 37450. It will be more the projector type, guess to go straight at JW Speaker. He said the light is really smooth and throws out down the road more.
    Using the same guidelines in your video hopefully you can do a video review of it when they drop them on the market. I may just have to upgrade from my current Truck-lites if they are a jump up..
    It will be the opposite of the Morimoto, Morimoto hyped as game changer... and they didn't hit the mark. Truck-lite is saying very little, and they will probably blast out.
    And I'm not anti Morimoto, I was hoping for the best. I currently have their XB lights in a Ram, huge upgrade from stock!

When you get your hands one them, please do a review and test them as you did to all these in the shootout to compare how they preform. Very excited to see Trucklites answer to JW projectors. For years forums compared the 2, fans in both camps. Will be interesting to see if Trucklite decided to walk away with the title....

    But they are expensive lol where I live speakers were 800$CAD just a few years ago.
    I just ordered some 5x7 auxbeams for my little toyota I been messing with lol can't find jack all on these perticular ones. I got them cuz they look like a 5x7 version of some rounds I bought for my womans 2011 jeep JK she had and they were unbelievable lol

    I have auxbeams from last year and like them alot. Problem is in Canada needing DRL's they flicker. Had to unplug my DRL module. It was driving me nuts. Having to turn on my headlights on in summer on a bright hot day. Jeep Cherokee XJ's apparently don't send enough voltage from the module to run the DRL's properly😢 but with it unplugged you not only do not have DRL'S but also don't have a lit up dash indicator for brights which isn't a big deal. I think you should stick to halogen for the best beam pattern possible, I looked it up and saw your headlights are plastic so if you were to install a high wattage halogen with a wiring upgrade and relays like the osram super bright 100/90w bulbs your housing might deform after a few months so I suggest you go with either osram night vision laser or Philips racing vision or some other bulb in that category, if you still want to go led then you can check out their video on the best bulbs

      I don't know the answer, but I put Cibie glass headlights in my Wagoneer (not DOT approved) and with a powerful xeon/halogen bulb, old school dual headlight relay and heavier wiring they are Great! Great pattern and cutoff, cheaper than quality LED and will not fade. I put glass Hella housings in my YJ Wrangler, not as good hi beam pattern but DOT approved, no fade but can choose my bulb unlike sealed beam originals.

    I went on truck lite’s website and it shows they have 2 different 5x7 headlights. The 27450 ( the head light you tested) and the 27490. I’m wondering if there are differences besides what looks to be a different reflector . Thanks for the great videos, tons of great info. I’m also wondering if you can do a video of the vision X 5x7 housing with LED bulb shoot out . What bulb would be the best in that housing ?

    I did not quite figure out how DOT regulations specify low beam patterns. here in the ECE regulated area it is quite easy but DOT seems to be all over the place. sometimes the low beams are flat with hotspor, sometimes you have a cutoff with an incline, sealed beams make kind of a banana

    No hate at all, your tests and reviews are great. Two questions though: what voltage do you test the halogens at, and why don't you test H4 (preferably E-code) versions of the sealed beams from companies like Bosch or Hella? Not necessarily to sell them or to deflect attention from the LED offerings, but as another comparison point and benchmark. Most of these "DOT" headlights are obviously not DOT legal, so testing against an actual E-code should be no less valid.

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 роки тому +2

      No worries Matthew, our power supply is made by Pyramid and produces 14.4VDC.
      For your second question about testing H4 versions - this video was specifically to show people the dangers of some of the LED headlight options out there. Agreed that another valuable video may be more of a range to find the "absolute best" 5x7 option (LED or, Sealed Halogen, or Capsule Halogen) but that wasn't the point here. Thank you for feedback and watching!

    I like the HR LED's that maintain the classic look of the old sealed beams, but they're way too expensive! I replaced both headlight assemblies on my 04' Highlander, AND upgraded to LED for less than 1/2 the price of what it would cost me to just switch to LED's for my classic truck.

    Honestly, I was kinda disappointed with the Morimoto. I was so stoked when it came out, cuz I kept thinking "Why don't they have a 5x7 version of the Sealed7?"
    The exterior appearance is, IMO, its coolest feature. Black, sleak, and with the four switchback DRLs, it's eyecatching no doubt. However, while I understand that the pattern plays a HUUUGE role, and I personally am super picky with my light spread, I feel at times that the hotspot on my stock halogens isn't enough, and these are dimmer than its brightest point? Nope. Good looks got nothing to bring if they don't have the bite to back up all that bark and the price tag sticking out it's backside.
