19:50 so where I work, your typical chain pharmacy with a lil convenience store attached to it (insert whatever brand you want theyre all the same shit), recently moved locations... literally across the street. But at the first location, it had been there LITERALLY 30+ years. And some of my coworkers had BEEN there that entire time, since it opened. I volunteered to help move everything out and yes, we DID find literally 30 year old items under shelves and alllll the way in the back of storage. We found our old nicotine paperwork too... from before I was even born. We found decades old expired cosmestics, pharmacy paperwork (that probably should have been filed at some point, oops), all sorts of shit. Cereal boxes with mascots that dont exist anymore. It was wack.
Vinny spending all his money buying 12 mops and 11 brooms because he forgot that attacks cost money to use in battle was like watching a car crash in slow motion
I really think these games need to be remembered for their absolutely on-point satire of the burbling dread of modern Shit Jobs under Shit Managers. we need you to come in. I know it's been a few years but I just can't give you that 8% (Dollar) raise we talked about. I'm gonna need you to stay late. no you can't call off, we need you. hey aren't you a motivated go getter? we're more like a family here. hey we just gotta make it through this week and we'll be good. just gotta make it through this week and we'll be good. just gotta make it through this week and it'll be fine. we need more people! just gotta make it through this week. we need help! make it through this week make it through this week help make it through this week
I worked at Kmart once and decided to get some chicken from them before they went under, found out all the food in the kitchen was over 2 years expired
i wish kmarts still existed because they were like. peak shitty limbic retail. and they had icees and wiimotes years after the wii was out of the picture
Jesus, I don’t know what affected me more… the dude in the car after completing the self help seminar, or Vinny saying he had a shitty Nathan’s hot dog. Getting served a bad Nathan’s is an honest to god crime.
As a produce manager, I can definitely say that trading meat to the meat god is the worst part of the job. Not because the meat smells, or because the banana phone is weirdly sticky, but just because the meat god never says thank you, which like only takes a second, you know?
Okay though, just got to gush for a sec, this game’s taken a _huge_ step up in quality since the demo! The writing’s always been good in these games, but here I think it’s at its best yet. Even the smallest thing as washing your hands feels flavorful. And compared to No Delivery (which I loved), I like that there’s a fair amount of humorous and even charming moments to offset the horror. The NPCs are all really well written this time ‘round. Which is saying something, since No Delivery had its fair share of fun characters as well. And man, this freaky plot they have going, with decaying store managers seemingly operating through robotic “manager” mannequins… _love this!_ It’s like automated store cleaners taken to an existential extreme! Compared to No Delivery, so far it really feels like there’s a concrete sense of plot progression here, which I really appreciate. Happy to say, this feels like a true No Delivery successor, and I’m excited to watch Vinyot uncover the crusty, eldritch secrets lurking behind these store shelves :)
I watched the demo stream and he got his ass kicked over and over and barely made any progress, but then he started this stream with 3 employees and a bunch of items and stuff. I think he must've gotten someone else's save file or played off-stream.
Wow. I thought I was the only guy who was allergic to raw apples for some reason. Granted, If i slice 'em up and stick em in the fridge, it's still tolerable, for whatever reason. I guess making 'em cold reduces the effect? iunno. Either way, it's comforting to know i'm not the only one with that weakness.
Its probably some sort of protein or acid. Cooking it would help too probably. It's likely not the cold that's breaking it down, it's just the apple turning 'old' and getting brown, that's also the protien or acid breaking down naturally. I had a teacher who could only eat applesauce that was processed a certain way cuz of the same apple allergy.
Having just finished watching Vinny play through the demo, I definitely feel like I missed something. There were meat people in the demo? I just remember mannequins, rats, shopping carts, and a truck. Why does he start out in the manager’s office? Is the door normally unlocked in the full game (even though it’s locked in the demo)? He ended the demo with no employees, zero dollars, and virtually no items. Did the devs top him off so he wouldn’t be continuing at a complete disadvantage? Did I actually miss something or are the inconsistencies the result for him “continuing” from the demo?
For anyone's reference, at the start of the video, when looking at your pc, the link on the recycle bin is for a different page, so you can open and look at it too. (of course, not mandatory for anything)
You find a note from someone who thanks you for returning the lunches, and then rants about people who don’t put back their shopping carts. It’s implied the “ghost cart” event is related to the guy. so nothing tangible, but some neat lore
I always figured the Darkest Dungeon engine could be repurposed into a retail simulator with only a little tweaking. I mean i'm no programmer, but all the trappings of the retail experience are there. You send in your employees to deal with customers/monsters and slowly the experience destroys them from the inside and out and they either become ptsd-afflicted shells of humans or die. I am confident it would work, especially if there is the same narrator voice over everything. And i share your caution about star trek picard, vinny. I have been watching, and i go into every episode expecting it to be the one where everything goes to crap to the point it sullies even the better episodes before it, but four episodes in and it's still pretty ok. I like the titan-a's captain, and the returning tng cast all class up the place, and the dialogue feels a lot more natural than season 2's weird melodrama nonsense. But yeah, who knows. Seasons 1 and 2 burned me so bad i am still fully expecting it to turn out bad at every episode, but i adored tng so much as a kid that i can't stop myself from watching anyway like a fool. Sigh.
I’m so confused. I watched him play the demo and then I came here to play part 1 but there’s a massive difference between the end of the demo stream and the beginning of this one. Am I missing something?

Guys -- I'm missing something. There's a video of vinny playing the demo, but there's no connection between that video and this video. It's like he went back and played it during one of the streams I missed. Any help?
The thing is that at the same time, Vinny will make up fake words. He also has a degree in something involving words. I'm not gonna pretend like I remember what he has a degree in, but I've heard his real vocabulary and his fake one. It becomes hard at times to tell them apart. His very existence is prepertual wordplay.
1:22:06 Ehhh, I'm guessing the devs are maybe unaware of this, but that phrase (what the sprinkler is doing) has very different and more offensive connotations in some places (such as the UK)
Seems a lot more polished than it was the last time Vinny played it. I appreciate the rebalancing to combat which originally looked unfun at best and hideously punishing for no good reason at worst. Not bad overall.
Because oates got a hair up his ass and decided to go and retroactively change the soundtracks for this game, No Delivery, and Halloween After Special because of some beef he has with the musician that he won't explain. : /
@@Jamessonization I apologize if the games' experience was affected by the updated soundtrack. havent watched this bet but iirc vinny had a really hard time in the demo and didn't really know how to play (which the game was a bit vague in some parts, fair), hopefully the playthrough of the full game isnt like that
The whole "finding a pack of cards from 10-20 years ago behind a shelf" actually did happen to me! It was a pack of Digimon cards, they were covered in dust and were pushed into a little cranny in the shelf. It was honestly kinda magical.

I can’t believe Vinny talked about old, unopened packs of Pokémon cards in this video, just like in the other Sorry, We’re Open video
thats just how hes programmed
Sorry, the packs are unopened!

these games are always so bizarre and cozy for some reason. oates dev is a legend.
They ride the perfect line between disturbing horror and spoof comedy, somehow. Oates is truly skilled.
The ambience is nice too, kind of spooky but nice.... is there a word for that lol

The sequel to Pizza Tower's spooky cousin, No Delivery.
I would like to see Peppino bulldoze that entire pizzeria with his ludicrous speed.

i dont know anything about this game but i saw vinny play it before and i am glad he plays more of it
I really like the dry kind of bored horror that these games present.
I’ve been waiting for this game to come out. Mainly so you could play it because I love this style of game.
I can’t believe someone decided that the grapefruit technique was an appropriate stream topic, I finally forgot and now I remember. Pain.

Whose game file is he playing? I just saw his demo and he didn’t recruit 3 employees, maybe it’s a built on continue option from the demo?
I never got that option and I played the demo all the way through

Why call it part 1 if this is a continuation of the game?
That was part zero

I'm surprised Vinny didn't say "Earthbound like" and chat didn't remind him about sans the skeleton man -withahugeboner-

Retail fucking sucks
Sharona is a biblical name, it's not a play in Sharon.
Even if every episode of Picard Season 3 past episode 4 sucks, the story arc we have was GREAT.
