Finally a video about rania!!! Their history is soooo messy😂😂 I wanted to get into them when they released Start In Fire and I looked at their Wikipedia.. and wow (and yes that was only back in 2017.... even much more happened after then) It’s so messy that I don’t even get how people can become fans of them as they know that their fav member is probably going to leave/ ‘mysteriously disappear’ / ‘replaced by random people who you don’t even know the names of...’ at their next comeback 😭😭😂😂😂 Also I don’t get how people are still willing to audition to be a new member in the group as they know they are probably going to leave/be fired the next comeback 😭😭😂😂😂 But Dr music really did buy a lot of good songs/ produce good MVs for Rania, I really wonder where all the money comes from😭I wonder did rania even make any money after all this mess (always remember how AOA members actually had their first pay check after their 3rd year of debut....even though they were already much popular than rania); but anyways if you have so much money the use the money and properly train a group for longer and make sure members don’t leave/disappear suddenly? 😭😭 so that they can actually attract fans and actually make a profit.... but I have no expectations for dr music it’s been 10 years already and they’ve still throwing away money into the sea lol I just really wonder what are the people working in Dr Music even thinking?? What are in their minds to manage a kpop group like this?? 😭😭😭😭😂 When’s the part2 coming out? Can’t wait!! 😂😂
@@matthew_983 it does seem pretty easy to get out of the group though, so I think their contract isn’t really strict in terms of wanting to stay or leave.

wait what?! why I never knew cosmic girl rbw producer was one of rania members, I mean I knew she was an idol but never knew about rania and IM A RBW STAN I love her work so much I'm glad she left rania, also at first I thought you were talking about the group WJSN lol
Lets just acknowledge the fans of Rania for a moment. I feel really terrible for them, they have been so confused with the lineup changes and must have waited so long for comebacks.
Must everything be about racism ? I heard that all the western K-pop members don't train as much and don't keep up with the time schedule. They don't have that Asian value. Look at EXP first K-pop white boyband trying to make it by training only just 1/3 the time that typical Asian members boybands In the end their choreography are always slower and less in sync.
blackswan's current line-up seems to do quite well right now. they now have a pretty loyal fanbase and their comeback stages got a lot of views for a nugu group. they also have been appearing on different korean youtube channels, especially sriya, which gave them some good promo. they will also be performing on the waterbomb festival which is a pretty big festival and will gain them more exposure. i hope they can keep this line-up and keep doing well!
Rania/BP Rania/Blackswan aren't unlucky. They're mismanaged. Signed to and terribly mismanaged by a company that doesn't care and was just trying to make money without doing the bare minimum.
@Sunflower Not exactly. "Unlucky" suggests that everyone involved tried their best - but due to some twist of fate everything failed regardless. In this situation I would rather use "mismanaged" because looking at DR... I can't even give them a D- for trying because, as I stated, they just wanted quick money without doing any actual work. As for the girls themselves, you could say they were unlucky to end up with this company to begin with, and unlucky to be pulled into this stalker vs DR CEO situation.
I met Alex at a local event in Maryland. She was an absolute sweetheart and she told me rumors about her getting surgery or lightening her skin hurt her because she didn't want young girls to think "oh, Alex can't even do it, then I definitely can't make it" so it was really important to her to remain true to herself ♥
@@justapeach8859 ahh that changes things. I don't know where I got Market lmao :D local event could be anything from cheese event to book reading event
I remember watching this video and part 2 back when it was released and i was like "yikes, I'll make sure to not go near this blackswan group". then the new lineup was revealed with such good releases and talented girls, i couldn't help but stan them😅
Fun fact: the girl group with the most line-up changes (while keeping in mind the groups lifespan) was... BaBa!! With them being active for 4 years and having something like 25 members
That's insane, and, what's even more insane, the company would never give credit to other members who would temporarily appear, even for just one show. That's so unfair, imagine training at such a shitty company and they don't even promote you at all.
Its obvious that the group's label/company are just using black artist for clout and recognition, i.e Teddy Riley and Alex, that's why they never received the pay or treatment they deserved. Even hardcore kpop stans have never hear of RaNia until Alex was in it. We can only hope and pray they treat Fatou better.
I was about to comment this; used Teddy Riley's name for clout, pushed for a US debut & tried to promote their name with Snoop Dogg. Everything with Alex as well as renaming the group "Black" Pearl for her skin color. Newest group is called "Black" Swan & heavily showcased another black member... They're not even trying to be subtle with this.
@@namjoonie936 I hope they treat fatou fairly and don’t do the same like they did to Alex. But I don’t think this will happen again but if it does the company can expect a lot of backlash from fans and etc.
@@ploopy678 Can you also talk about that on the wikipedia page of Rania/Blackswan it says that it is a new name for the group as 3rd generation BABY V.O.X
Alex was included in Make Me Ah because we were doing petitions to include Alex, creating hash tags, sending emails and making noise. Otherwise they'd still exclude her
I hoped so badly that Alex wasn't the "Black Pearl" in BP Rania, but well...they treated her like garbage. "The First Black Kpop Idol" deserved more. Aaargh! I can't wait for next week :(
@ItzzMike Weird logic, if your industry is kpop. More like they just wanted a gimmick. The group got a lot of attention with Alex even if management didn't know how to treat her. Hopefully, they learned some lessons and do better this time around.
@@jidori2258 where did I say that lmao. The only reason other places seem more racist is because other countries are more homogeneous. I'm a half black/half korean girl who grew up in South Korea. It definitely exists everywhere. My comment is saying SoKo doesn't care that other countries see them as racist ESPECIALLY against certain types of people. There are way too many tourist and native alike to dispute this
wow I really feel bad for all the girls that took part in Rania, especially Alex, like it must be SOO awkward to just stand in the sidelines and not even being acknowledged as an actual member who took part in the choreos and all that.
@@purrplex8793 and even though people hate on SM (and sm treats their artists bad) they cannot deny that the idols who trained and debuted there are some of the best in the industry and the idols at SM have the most family like bond i’ve ever seen 👁👁
@OshunLaDiaspora yeah SM probably wouldn’t work out for bs the big 3 companies all have their own problems when it comes to their artists but out of those three yg might fit them i think?
@@yooseul__ actually maybe either jyp or yg because Alex ( the girls from rania) said two out of the big three companies were interested in her and had a conference with both of them.
BLACKSWAN is a strong group BUT DR Music their company... YIKES I just hope they have changed because their past groups were ruined mostly because of the company themselves
Me stanning AKB48 for a very long time, constant line up changes in a musical group in like this one isn't a hard concept for me to grasp. But the level of unprofessionalism of the management in this one is is having me speechless so far..
I understand but there's a difference between a group who's concept is lineup changes vs a group who was meant to remain stable but changes lineup because of bas management
AKB48 have a graduation system where it's understood that the members aren't permanent and can leave any time, while Rania was intended to have a specific lineup over the course of their career. Plus, when AKB48 members join and leave, they are properly introduced or given a formal sendoff.
A1st/Luminas are so used to our very stressful fandom. lol. It feels delusional rooting for them still but I am rooting for themmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!! I feel like they're finally hitting their stride.
so you’re telling me there was a tough competition to get into this group and one of the 8 members out of 40 trainees left the group to open a hello kitty restaurant? 😪 smh 😄🤣 something about that is just hilarious to me!! 😂
The sasaengs name is CANDY JOHNSON. She is in love with either the CEO or the CEO’s son. She is insane and runs the channel called A1st central on UA-cam. She hated Alex and did her best to kick her out of the group and she hates Fatou as well.
This girl is insane~ I remember being into Raina when Alex joined and she was in the rania sub threads on every kpop forum that were active during that time talking like a complete lunatic! I’m surprised she is still around
15:22 Turns out Dr. Music had added a new member to the group hoping nobody would notice. But NEWS Flash, fans have eyes *proceeds with The More You Know* clip I swear that's the dumbest and the funniest thing they had done💀
I loved RaNia so much... They were one of my favorites groups back in the days, they had fierce concepts, amazing choreos, catchy songs... But I gave up on them after demonstrate. I was so fed up with that mismanagement, lack of communication, constant line up changes, random girls showing up at live events without even knowing if they were official members or not etc ... I gave a chance to Blackswan but gosh... calling the album Goodbye RaNia while 90% of the album is made of former RaNia's songs was ridiculous + the news about Hyeme leaving the group already because she was just a way to promote the group's debut etc... That's soooo pathetic and that proves Dr Music isn't able to manage a group once again. What makes me sad is that people are so desperate that they still audition for that terrible company 😱
With the rumors surrounding why the company chose BP Rania as the new name, are we ready to discuss why they chose to rebrand the group as Blackswan? Their company keeps doing them dirty.
There is a theory that people don’t believe black swans exist until they see one and therefore a black swan is very special and rare. (Literally called the black swan theory, and it’s meant to show how people don’t believe something is true until they see it in real life). The idea being to make it seem like the group was special and unique. However, considering it’s members and how most people may not know this I definitely think this wasn’t considered and rather it was just for clout.
I'm only 17 minutes through but I just wanted to say I love this video. its so entertaining and the editing is amazing. It gives me Buzzfeed Unsolved vibes and I love it!
Stanning this group from the beginning has literally been a ride through hell, but I don't regret it. A1ST forever! Thank you for giving these ladies so much attention! ♥️♥️
Their company is/was chosen beggars who embezzled fans' money, which is disgusting. Plus they ignored friggin phone calls. Can you imagine a more pathetic and unprofessional "company"? I bet the owner is/was a gang member or at least a criminal of some sort.
Did you guys also know that on the wikipedia page of Rania/Blackswan it says that it is a new name for the group as 3 generation BABY V.O.X, so this thing has been longer going on
@@KpopStan2009 Baby VOX is a 1st generation Girl group debutted in 1997 and the only successfull group made by this shitty Company, Baby VOX ReV. (2) debutted in 2007 with only 2 singles and Flop. RaNia 2011 is considered as Baby VOX 3rd generation, I highly doubt Black Swan considered as Baby Vox Generation
theres a group called busters and i think they’ll end up the same way. all the members have been under 18 and there hasn’t been any of the same members each comeback. the debuted in 2017 for a tv show but it got canceled, they had a couple of controversies bc of their company. the first one was that the company had the girls all in skirts and didn’t give them anything to put over it, and they were around grown men. one of the members could be seen putting a piece of tissue on that area. the second was that one of the members (i didn’t learn all their names im so sorry) was on boni hani (i think) which is a children’s show, and one of the adult cast members allegedly hit her. in the video you can’t really see because another member was in front of the camera at the time but you could hear the hit, and see her uncomfortable afterwards. i think they may be similar to rania bc of the constant line-up changes and the oversexualization of the girls. it affects their popularity, and as of 2020 a couple more members have left.
Rania was part of the first-ever K-Pop event in my country, in 2012. The girls had like 3 songs at the time, and were still "rising stars". I have a very fond memory of them at that time. A bunch of fans of other groups, myself included, went to bid farewell to our faves, but as civilized people, we also supported everybody who was about to embark. Of course, Rania was there, and they were absolutely shocked by the warmness. Di did 90° bows to both sides where fans were gathered. To see how dirty they got done was really sad, I really wanted them to be successful :c
Alex was really patient that time, if I were Alex, i would left the group promptly, despite my singing career would be ruined or whatever. and also the loyal fans who stayed for them even though there were no longer any of the main members of the group... I can feel how tired the fans were. how did the company managed to be this embarrassing
Hearing about fans still supporting these alleged, up in the air projects WITH THEIR FUNDS and getting disappointed like this made me have a visceral reaction in anger. I know what it's like to really want your favorite group to be successful and be promoted well, and I'm SO mad that their company would take advantage of that love from fans, some of who were likely young and impressionable, too. I've always been confused about what was going on with Rania, so thank you for compiling everything and even getting the members to be comfortable enough to share their stories!!!
For the ones who like this kind of stories: Six Bomb is another completely mismanaged kpop group, and it seems that lots of shady things happened behind the scenes.
@@Liberalshinigami Ah yes. And obviously a small company and not the greatest management. They also did a song for which they all went and had plastic surgery... They got as much exposure as with those pink sausages but it just didn't work out for them either.
I'm sorry I am not into kpop a lot but recently became an admirer of MAMAMOO and I think that has brought me here. I'm not quite familiar with the ways of the industry, and though I feel bad for whatever happened to the people who worked so hard, I can't stop laughing at the whole thing as if it's a comedy show LMAO TF is wrong with the company? Is it run by a 50year old child? Someone return the child to his parents plz
Im a mamamoo fan too! And interestingly, I learned of some shady business regarding their record label and singer songwriter ESNA who shared her story regarding her collab with Mamamoo. Im glad she was able to expose the record label for their shameful behavior!
it's only a matter of time before the sasaeng finds this video. their sheer dedication to shitting on dr music is a bit commendable considering they've been doing this for years.
Wow you really went in depth with this and I’m just living for the drama! Thank you for pouring hours into collecting and sorting all of this information for us to consume. The visuals really help with the lineup switches.
I was thinking about you to make a Good Day redebut history i think its very interesting too how the half of members are in different groups (Cignature and Red Square)
Kudos for this presentation. I was engrossed in listening to the whole story I didn't even notice that the video was over until you said it was the end of Part 1...
In Conclusion, the company is sketchy. Replacing artists faster than any other company's groups I have listened too. The company not supporting international artists.
I used to run Rania's largest fanpage on facebook back in the day and let me tell you the sasaeng fan in the video referred to as "c" was literally horrifying to deal with T_T. her youtube channel is still around too..
I'm happy she's doing well as a soloist (she was almost a 2NE1 member alongside Spica's Bohyung and Fiestar Linzy, who were YG trainees at that time until they were cut from the lineup so 2NE1 were a 4 member)
While I watched your video, I think I'd like to tell about one of Rania members that is worth mentioning. Its Jooyi a.k.a Lucy a.k.a Cosmic Girl (not to be confused with Cosmic Girl as a girl group). She is actually one of the first generation member of RANIA for 3-4 years. She's now a singer and songwriter working for Mamamoo, Oneus,Alexa, and SSAK3. She produces and writes the commercial songs like Gleam, Maeil Bio, and the most recent one Wanna Be Myself. Looking back, she shared that her previous experience almost made her stop to be in music industry anymore. I didn't understand how bad it was until I found your video. And I kinda feel sorry for her and member involved. I am happy for her finding success and I am wishing that all of member and ex-member will find success on their respective career
I am the same for Chrome Entertainment. I once wrote a 8 sites long explaination why Chrome is a shitty company in just 30 minutes. It's in german through. A shorter version in English can be found under the video 'Pledis: The Company that can't do it's job'
it would be both so frustrating and entertaining to stan these girls since 2011 i cant imagine what the fans felt like when the lineup has changed for 100th time with on original members left that was a rollercoaster wow
The unfortunate thing is that almost all of Rania songs sound SO good, at least from the snippets you put in ur video What an unlucky group :(( and i'm happy that Black Swan is finally doing better and they're growing..their last comeback Karma attracted so many positive reactions🔥
Evangeline just doesn't miss. Also I've always wanted to know the full story of Rania since I couldn't really follow what happened to them, so thank you for that!
OMG After watching part two today, I just realized that Jooyi is Cosmic girl unnie so I came back to this video lol She's now in RBW and a really talented composer and singer! She produced a lot of Mamamoo's songs (the iconic "Cosmic"!) Uwu. I'm glad she's doing so much better now.
as someone who's been a kpop fan since 2010/11 i was always vaguely aware that Rania existed and that they had a lot of lineup changes/rebrands but i didn't know it was this heckin crazy 😱 i can't wait until part 2 omg
I'm so happy you made this video, and i thank you for doing so much research on the group. Honestly, many fans don't even know about pre-debut members Data and Minhee, and unless you really delved deep into their history you might not have known (side note Data is now a Thai actress known as Data Darancharas). And, I also know how hard it is trying to explain RaNia's history because so many things were left unsaid and not made public, and you did a beautiful job giving all the information! I always held RaNia very close to my heart, because every generation and every member is very talented! They had everything to be BIG, but they just never were and it always hurt me. I'm happy you reached out to Yina and Namfon to get their sides of the story. I've had my own personal talks with members Zi.U, Ttabo, and trainee Hyeonji and they've all kind of let slip that a lot of things done behind the scenes weren't the best for the girls. From what these three it said, during Zi.U and Ttabo's time it was hard to openly speak up because of contracts but they just felt left in the dark. That their was always talks of member changes, and the concept of permanent membership wasn't even a thing to their management, it was like because so many members had left in the past the managemen was already ready to replace new members when needed.
It’s mind blowing how these shady Kpop Ent. Groups get away with obtaining more Trainees who get mistreated. I guess it’s be cause of the financial benefits. I hope young people do thorough research about the legitimacy of any so called Kpop Ent. Group prior to flying out to S. Korea. Thanks for posting this and sharing.
see I knew about the history of Alex and Rania, but not Rania as a whole. So far, this is such a wild ride. I can't imagine how stressful it would've been to stan them. The company was so fucking shady fr. Can't wait to see the rest!
I remember when Rania debuted, they had a lot of hype. I personally loved their debut, but it was too racy for its time. We have similar sexy dances in kpop now from Hyuna and Gain, but Rania was the first group to take it to that level, so they got all the backlash. They decided to turn around their image with tame songs like Masquerade and Pop, but the damage had been done. They could never live down the stigma of being a shockingly sexy group. It's very hard for groups with "sexy" reputation to make it big in kpop, because even though men love it, the vast majority of kpop fans who vote and buy merchandise are females. If your group doesn't appeal to female fans, then it will have a hard time. Girls don't usually stan "sexy concept" groups, or groups with "tall female models," because they don't find such groups relatable. This is why groups like Rania, Bestie, Nine Muses, Afterschool, Fiestar, Stellar, Hello Venus, etc. struggle. Honestly, the only group that was kind of known for "sexy concept" that was successful, was Sistar, but they had an incredible vocal line, and the company was well-connected, so the members appeared on a lot of variety shows, which helped endear the members to the general public. Rania could've had a shot if they never debuted with Mr. Feelgood. That song doomed their reputation, and that's where it began and ended for them. They should've just hired Brave Brothers from the beginning.
@@yaknotnud Boys listen to a variety of music, but they usually don't invest themselves beyond the music itself. For example, they don't vote or buy merch, nearly as much as their female counterparts. They also don't care as much about the private affairs of idols. The tabloid market (scandals, gossip, etc) is largely driven by females. Kpop is to females what sports is to males. Males spend more money on sports apparel and memorabilia, than females. Fandoms in both sports and kpop exhibit highly competitive, tribal behavior. The difference is, friendly trash talking is considered fun and healthy in sports, whereas this isn't really the case in kpop, even though trash talking is a major part of fan activity.
What a incredible well done video, I love watching this kind of videos (the kpop industry is so interesting and messy). I really appreciate a great work. Thank you so much.
Thanks for your creative and original contents. New video idea I wanna suggest should be about Brave Girls as their 4 years old song is climbing up the charts now.
You will need to do a follow up video every 2-3 years because the drama never stops and it still hasn’t stopped. They have so many former members they might as well become a 48g group

You didn't mention that YG helped during Style.. that explains the aesthetic in the mv. Apparently DR music ceo and YG had a connection . They said YG was returning the favor that's why they helped Rania. I guess that explains the shady business🤷
So here we are in Nov. 2022, approximately one year and a half after this video was posted, and a lot has changed in Blackswan. Yet, in a way nothing has changed at all, because we still have no comeback, and membership in the group continues to be a revolving door. Now Leia is on her second hiatus, and the group plans to have a comeback with just three members, two of whom are extremely inexperienced. And all three are not Korean, which will likely make it more difficult to gain and keep a Korean fan base. DR has been very quiet all year long, and trying to distract us from the turmoil by placing Sriya and Gabi front and center at every opportunity. I feel so bad for these girls. They deserve better than this. Maybe after this supposed three-member comeback, if it ever occurs, I would very much appreciate a Part 3 video, to cover everything that has happened Part 2. Plus their song are legit bops tho.. So one thing the company did right was the music.. Other than that... Everything was trash

Even hardcore kpop stans have never hear of RaNia until Alex was in it. We can only hope and pray they treat Fatou better.

That their was always talks of member changes, and the concept of permanent membership wasn't even a thing to their management, it was like because so many members had left in the past the managemen was already ready to replace new members when needed.

see I knew about the history of Alex and Rania, but not Rania as a whole.
AOA was another sexy successful group
@@slylover123 AOA is popular, but still got a lot of backlash because of their concept.

I was so into this and ready to watch part 2 when I realized this came out only 4 days ago! Amazing video and very captivating. Thank you for taking all that time to make this and clear up so many things 💕🌸
Alex being considered dark and the company renaming the group after her skin tone... it's an evil world we live in
Alex is light-skinned black woman... wth
A light skin mixed woman
A light-skinned black woman is still black in South Korea and most everywhere else and still considered dark skinned by Korean standards
@@iyaiiya-wawg3657 she's not black! Mixed
@@Ninofalls she is black
@@beatricemarcus258 No. She's mixed. Bye
to anyone who thinks nct system is complicated
now you see
woah I came so early. this was so complete and very interesting. I've been always curious about what was happening in the group although I wasn't into kpop at that time. I'm expecting part 2♥️
the effort you must have put in to produce this video is so amazing, thank you for the great content
Thank you for all of your research and time!
Now Youngheun and Judy are no longer apart of Blackswan.
