Lake Ontario Salmon, Lake Trout and Brown Trout Fishing May 2023

Niagara Falls, New York, and Lewiston, New York, are gateways to some of the finest fishing in North America. The Outdoors Rambler with Ken Perrotte visited the region in early May 2023, fishing the Lower Niagara River and Lake Erie for smallmouth bass and Lake Ontario, including the famed Niagara Bar, for king salmon, coho salmon, lake trout and brown trout. This trip on Lake Ontario features deepwater trolling for salmon and lake trout and drift fishing with lures attached to three-way swivels on the Niagara Bar, the place where the mouth of the lower Niagara River empties into Lake Ontario. About the only species our boat couldn't find was steelhead.
