I replaced my mouse slides w/ glass slides about a year ago, but the originals didn't have any covers. I check everything thoroughly, so luckily I've not missed anything anywhere in my build.
Who was very confused while I knew lightweight mouse seems so much less tactile. Turns out it had the little plastic wrapped very very tightly around the feet
My rookie mistake years ago was to remove such plastic and being told I voided the warranty on my most expensive component . Other manufacturers reversing the rules is crazy bad .
I have an 8 dollar mouse. The "glides" are 4 almost pin like bumps that don't work with a mouse pad. On a hard desk it's actually a really elegant solution to not being able to splurge on materials, and it's safe to assume at an 8 dollar price point people will likely be using it with no pad. It's the best piece of crap mouse I've ever used.
A few months ago I thought i broke my sliders because they started to develop holes in the first layer. Turns out it was just the plastic protection of the gliders
Happened to me. And I realized it in a mid game. When suddenly my mouse acted weird, just to find out one part of cover came out and other was still there and I was using it like that for months 😃.
My mouse is so old, if it was there, it is gone now.
my mouse is so old that it became an office mouse so even if there were plastic stuff there it would probably be gone by now too

They probably aren't wrong, but not necessarily correct
it wont last longer but the slow glide will prevent u from lasting longer

If you have a generally popular you can just buy new aftermarket skates they’ll usually be better
Or you can just try to put it back on
I missed these and wondered why my mouse was not gliding, took it off and became as fast as sound
