Inflation since the 80's is crazy. Teens in the 80's used to have big stereo systems at sound off's. Now days 60 year old men are barely affording to put a system in their 1995 Yukon.
Finally, 10s!!!!!!! 👍👍 I have a single HCCA 10 and it's heavy....... and just looking at 4 of them alone is around 200 pounds..... without the box. These Orions put in jackhammer WORK with the electrical done properly.
@@Bassotronics weight / payload does play a huge factor. I'm just glad that I got one sub because my car could never handle me, that big of a enclosure and 4 of any sub. Shocks and struts would be screaming 🤣🤣

I used to run 2 hcca 10's in the late 90's - mid 2000's on 2 hcca 250g4 doing a solid 150 in a Pontiac Fiero/2003 Hyundai Tiburon. Just nasty nasty subs
Lots of loud systems out there but ive noticed that people dont care about how the system looks much. Back in the 80's and 90's even early 2000's people put alot of time doing thier installs so it would look clean and neat. Was alot of wicked installs then. Now you do see a few really kool installs but most just dont take the time. Bless everyone
In the late 90’s and early 2000’s I noticed the dyi guys mostly sounded better. I always had boxes with no carpet, wires were a little messy, and usually a lose something installed in the dash. Did 142.7 in Iasca on music with a single dvc 15” xtr3. Even the guys at Cartoys in Tulsa would say how they were always amazed how good the unpolished dyi builds sounded.
I have a single JL 10w6 in a 1.25 cubic foot box with a passive radiator on a JP8 in the trunk of my 21 Camaro. It doesn't take up too much space, but it sounds great in my vehicle. I used an earthquake tunable PR and tuned everything in Winisd before the build and was shocked to see that the tuning frequency was almost perfect based on the numbers in Winisd. I went with a 10" due to size constraints of the trunk opening, not the trunk capacity, but I'm still shocked at just how good a single 10" can sound. It hits hard and sounds great, and nobody believes it's only a single 10" until I open the trunk. I really figured I'd be disappointed coming from my GMC Envoy that had 2 12s in the back, but I'm very happy.
I can't agree more. 10s for da win! I run 8 G2 Genesys 10s in a series 6th on a salt8k wired at 1ohm. 90ah cmax and 270a brand x alt. She gets down but has plenty left in her. Haven't sealed up the front completely yet. Plan on sealing it up and doin wood roof from b pillar forward. Every is impressed with the build. Especially when I tell them they're 10s. 😂
I got 4 10's hittin 151. 4 RF bd2500's pushing 4 DD Z 10" series 2 subs 2 2x2 4th order boxes. love those classic Orions. I'm amazed those paper cone mids are holding up
Never had hcca 10. Had 12 hcca 12 and 1 hcca 15. They do hit hard and sound damn good doing it. When you have the power it takes to run them. I still have my old school 12's hidden away. Nice setup.
Single 10" subwoofer builds stand up! One RF T1 10" in 1.8 cubes, 4" aero'd to 35Hz on a RF 1200.1 @ 1ohm. Right now trying it in a 1.25 cubed slot ported to 32Hz. Torn between the two setups. A 12" causes way too much rattling in my car.

I have a dual spider svc 10 (ungodly heavy,unknown make) in a 3/4" thick acrylic vented box.A buddy got it from a storage unit he bought.I don't know anything about it other than I've never head a harder hitting single driver. It's in my listening room putting the very lowest end to my"main" speakers-(2) JBL 2225H 15's,EV mid horn,EV horn tweeter.My friend passed a year ago and he left this to me among other car stereo gear.(RIP Tony).He was into car stereo competition-This was in his car and it was rediculous...The box is a whole 4'X8' sheet of 3/4" plex...Let me tell you,this sucker is heavy!
HCCAs are really nice, install is pretty dope... is there a part 2 for the conclusion as to why 10s are best? Lack of Cone area, efficiency, dollars-per-inch all pretty poor factors with 10s.
For a daily driver…the 18” sub with just one 50lb motor is better VS 4 smaller ones with the same 50lbs motors totaling 200lbs…. No thanks… A neo HCCA is on my bucket list.
back in the 80's 10 inch subs were just for rock music only not rap style low bass im sure times have changed,hell i have two 8's in my old truck that ive had for 24 yrs but i like my 12's always have,i had four 12's in 1989,ive had every size and 12's to ( me ) sound the best in a pair in a vehicle,ive got a nsv4 18 just sitting in my closet,trying to sell it on facebook but low ballers are so stupid,you should see some of the messages i get,like 400 dollars or how about trade for two kickers in a prefab box for my 1,200.00 dollar sub good lord,i just block them all.
@@KnowName33 you're* The 10 has a Fs of 42Hz or 45Hz depending on coil impedance. 12's are 32Hz-33Hz. If you like to get 3kW of 45Hz good for you. It hurts my ears.

But I digress, the FS is the resonant frequency of the woofer that has nothing to do with the frequency of Music being played if I have one subwoofer with an FS of 26 HZ and another subwoofer with the fs of 46 Hertz but I'm playing the same song on them they're both going to play the same frequency that the song is at the difference being the one with the fs of 26 hertz can play lower frequencies before hitting the 3db roll off that's assuming they're both in a sealed box and or infinite baffle. So your original comment was nonsense. I build subwoofers so I kinda know a little bit about them.

Do you build your subs to be quiet in the 20-40Hz range on purpose or are you just such a moron that you think it's a good thing? You've made exactly my point, for almost all music you'd listen to the HCCA 10 has rolled off before the frequency of most low bass tones. If you maximize the output (why would you minimize the output?) with a ported box it's in a frequency that hurts my ears. Any way you try to make it get low is inefficient. Any way you make it efficient it's painful for me to listen to. If you step up to the 12 the Fs goes all the way down to 30Hz, and life is good.
I dont know why comments say you dont know what youre talking about. i agree, them 10s have high fs and thats why i dont like 10s. They hit too high. High and painful, always from 10s. Ive had 12s, 15s, and now got 18s. I did have a 15 with a lower fs than my 18s and it sort of plays lower but then the box on my 18s is bigger which makes it also play lower. ITs a tossup, but my 32 fs hz 18s are tighter than my 15 with the lower fs. The lower fs sounds looser, which can hit lower ish, but my 18s sound huge and i slow down music on my mp3 player to hit even lower bass. I never hear anybody talking about speed variable players. 18s not being very lose actually sound real good with a shyt ton of power. They sound like a whole nuther monster than my 15 did.
I got a demo of his system. He was running 15 or 16 volts. I was very impressed with how loud and windy it was. Great vibes.

I keep my builds really clean. I hate looking at dirty carpeting and spaghetti wiring everywhere. lookin a hot mess

More cone area per cubic foot. More motor force and the obvious more power handling. Smaller subs are the way to go if you have the money.

Orion has been my favorite subs sense mid 90's
i had one hcca in a honda civic only giving it 2k on a memphis amp shit was nuts! Great speakers some of my faves.

after having 15's for so long I could never go back to 10s or 12s it might go the same for 15s when my 2 18s come in soon lol
