- The Demolitionist is a very tricky class to play.

In this guide, I go over tactics, strategies, and tips to make sure that monsters and the Demolitionist are adjacent to walls, obstacles, and traps as much as possible so you can use the Demolitionist's abilities to their full potential!!

Come and watch me play Magic The Gathering: Arena!! The BEST decks to beat the meta!! ua-cam.com/channels/XFLYWi1sEIbgSb-kYvssJg.html
This was really good, my daughter plays the demolitionist and I’m the voidwarden. Helpful & Appreciated. 💁🏻
Thanks for the guide. I'm playing Demolitionist in original Gloomhaven digital, but not yet in JOTL, and I'm really enjoying the merc. It's great having someone who can just clear obstacles while doing damage at the same time. Even if not as powerful, she's way more fun to play than an OP hero like Music Note.
For the algorithm. You make some great Gloomhaven videos. Thanks!!
Nice guide! I just played through the JotL campaign SOLO with Demolitionist and Hatchet, and I had a lot of similar thoughts as you about the class overall. But for level 3, I think I like Fire Bombs more than you do. Having a range 4 attack on a mostly melee character that generates fire and will usually boost to attack 3 or 4 thanks to your modifier deck is pretty awesome. Also, I went with Winged Shoes because the Jump helps so much with specific positioning for destroying obstacles or maximizing damage output. Later upgraded Winged Shoes to the solo item for Demo once I got it.
Anyway, really good stuff here! Subscribed to your channel and watched a couple other videos including your ranking of the 22 classes, keep up the good work!
Also, as I can see you're a Gloomhaven veteran... I just finished putting together a solo guide for JotL for Demolitionist + Hatchet and it should be up later this week. If you see it, I'd love it if you'd let me know what you think. Any feedback, good or bad, goes a long way to making better content in the future, especially when it comes from someone who has played this game so much. Thanks!

For sure shoot me a message when you put it up!
Great content. You fill a void with these character guides. Looking forward to your new content. Hope me (Red Guard) and my partner (Demo) will have some luck getting through the game. We're on Scenario 5 and in love with the game.
Thanks so much!!Enjoy it's a great game! If you haven't please consider subscribing and thanks so much for commenting!
@@neuralnetgames6540 I'm subscribed! Funny enough, my game shelf is pretty full, but i can see myself owning just Clank and Gloomhaven. Then again, variety is the spice of life. It just feels neat being so captivated by a game.
After we beat JOTL, do you think the original Gloomhaven is the way to go, or could we go with Frosthaven?
@@dccnightowl Awesome! I would say get Gloomhaven first! I don't have an inside source or anything but I bet Frosthaven is going to be late so we are probably at least 7 months away, or possibly more, from it showing up!
Windup is actually one of the best level 1 card for the Demolitionist. It is free damage for the second room. This is the only card the Demolitionist has for empty turns and it is a good one.
Even if you can't play it right away, you got a 9 card hand. So you can't play one card in the first cycle anyway.
It definitely has its uses and I get what you are saying but Demo has way better cards still! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@neuralnetgames6540 I'm with Horst Meier on this one. Windup is great. Follow up with One Two Punch and you're doing 7 points of damage. Sure, that's over 2 turns, but that's not hard to consistently do once per cycle, doesn't involve loss cards, gets you experience and can take out a lot of enemies with 1 action. And even between rooms there are situations where the windup turn is opportune in some way.
You underestimate this card.
Windup is also a good card to have around if you got disarmed before your next turn. You can't attack while disarmed, so you can 'stock pile' some damage for when you can attack next. I agree that Windup is an underrated card.
Thanks for this well done video! Great advice and observations all around, but hard disagree on Windup though. It is versatile, doesn't require any more setup than the other tactics you've offered, is sustainable instead of a loss, and if used for damage gives an XP while also enhancing One-Two Punch to 7 base damage against any one target, enough to take out most common enemies in one turn, or even an elite with decent draws. Windup is a must have for my Demo!
Totally respect that! My main reasoning is that in Gloomhaven killing monsters quick is the #1 strategy to crush scenarios and windup is delayed damage and can also cost you turns in longevity if you don't use it within the same rest cycle(unless you have odd cards in hand when played in which case you can leave it out until the end of the next rest cycle), which drastically lowers its power. I actually think it can be ok for more experienced players and using it very strategically in between rooms and making sure you pick it up at the right time but for less experienced players it will "wind up" being worse than most attacks. Yep that was a pun. I feel shame now lol
Really great video! The Demolitionist was the first Gloomhaven character I played (Jaws was my first game), and I really enjoyed it. I often felt like I had to work harder than the other three players to do well, but that made it very rewarding. I was able to pull off the Windup into Lobbed Charge combo in the scenario with the tables, and it felt incredible.
I really liked your emphasis on positioning with push/pull, I didn't really think about that during my campaign. I might port the Demo over to Gloomhaven as one of my next characters, just to see if I can do better. Again, great video!
Yep you definitely have to work hard when playing the Demo! Thanks so much for watching and please consider subscribing, lots more Gloomhaven content on the way!
So is the Wholesale destruction top fire consume
Does it add +1 to all hits and wound to all hits, or just the last one?
Very cool video! Will you make a voidwarden guide later down the line?
Yes I for sure will! I am putting out new Gloomhaven content weekly so expect to see Voidwarden in the next few weeks. Please consider subscribing and turn on notifications then when I put out the Voidwarden guide it will notify you. Thanks for watching!!
Waiting for that as well
@@EduardoRibeiroEdu most likely next week!
Anyone have ideaa how to make this class better? I have stickerd to adjust them but I don't want to make it too strong lol
Thanks for the spoiler warning. This is good info as i feel i can do more with the character and am trying to figure it out.
Hey guys, a question about Windup. Let's say I play a top and then lay down windup for the lower part. Since I haven't done anything with it yet, can I chose to instead use the top of Windup in the next round ?
Nope. when you play it for the bottom it stays that way until it goes into your discard, back into your hand and is replayed again.
So i have been playing windup(bottom) plus a card with eath elment in a waste turn to use chrash protocol(bottom) next turn. That way i have a move of 6 with jump and i get +2 moves for each obstacle destroyed. Also every enemy i pass through gets 1 damage and i get 1 exp. I've been stacking exp for every damage i do. Is this the correct way to use it? Definitely helps with leveling.
The card gets you only 1 exp per use
In your 22 classes ranking video you ranked him "definitely rank D" as the only char from all.
This guide now is several weeks after your ranking video - do you see more potential now? Or is he really that bad?
We own JOTL pretty new (we already own and played gloomhaven a lot tho), and we wanna start JOTL soon with a 3 person combo (my friend, myself and a friend of us - more is at the moment not allowed... ;))
I'm now trying to decide with char to play...
Voidwarden is not my style to play probably, but I will see her soon, cause my friend is porting her to gloomhaven as his next char.
Hatchet is totally my style normally (love chars like Scoundrel and Doomstalker), but I don't know if I like this favorite thingy and he is quiiite straight forward.
Red Guard sounds nice, but my friend really wanna play him..^^
Demolitionist sounds cool and I thought about playing her, but if she is really that bad, perhaps we be better with a combo of the other three...?
btw found your videos only 2 days ago, watched a lot till now and subscriped! You doing a amazing job!!
Many video guide are awfull (for me), because the people speak overly excited and wayyy to fast (I can understand english quite good, but it's not my motherlanguage).
But its totally easy to follow you and its calm on one side and on the other side exciting - love it :)
Thanks so much, glad you are enjoying the channel! I think the Demolitionist is totally fine and quite fun in JOTL. The list I made is an overall ranking and Demolitionist does not translate well into original Gloomhaven which is a decent part of the reason why it's ranked so low! If you have a Voidwarden you will be totally fine playing the Demo!
@@neuralnetgames6540 We have a 3 player group with everybody except the Voidwarden and the Demolitionist is cool.
Smash, blam. Dead enemies can't do damage. Offense being the best defence and all that.
I have a question regarding the level 5 card (and a few others), so I try to make it spoilersafe by adding space - hope it works!

:
You say you love Mech suit. I also think its a great card, and I LOVE the miniature^^
But I have now a problem (like always with lvl 9 handsizes) that I cannot fit every card I would want XD
I play with Redguard and Voidwarden with the Redguard trying to go mostly tanky. Would you recommend there Mech Suit? Or with another tank and a potential healer, not getting Mech Suit?
I thought about taking Nowhere to Run at lvl 3, Firebombs at lvl 5 and Remote Detonation at lvl 7 (for Extra-Dmg with Bossfights (Combi with Nowhere to Run) and for lvl 9 with Wholesale Destruction)
Other possibilities would be Taking Mech Suit at lvl 7 and not taking Remote Detonation at all.
Or don't take both of them and get Micro Missiles for more ranged dmg (switching it for Firebombs?)
Or Leave out Firebombs or Nowhere to Run and take Mech Suit at lvl 5...
What would you (or others) recommend as the Damage-Dealer in a 3-people party with tanky Redguard and Support Voidwarden?
I like it still because it allows you to play aggressive which I think the Demo needs to do. Plus it looks fire. I just saw one painted and it was sick. Be aggressive, heal up and then have shield for the rest allowing you to play aggressively still. I would probably leave remote detonation behind, and depending on what other loss cards you are using, I don't think you can go wrong between nowhere to run and firebombs
@@neuralnetgames6540 I see, thanks! Hmmm yeah I would really want it too... XD (and yes we also paint them - not as good as some on the internet, but I love em^^)
Hmmmmm then I probably leave Remote Detonation behind and take either Nowhere to run or firebombs at lvl 7.. the other at lvl 3..
1-time-Burst dmg or nice range till 7 lvl later XD Have to decide this then..^^ Perhaps getting firebombs at lvl 3 then, because I will probably leave explosive blitz behind at around lvl 3/4 or something
Why is push different in jaws of the lion? That seems weird to change a rule
Is the demo as bad as your review and tier list make him out to be? My friends and I are starting our first JoTL campaign and nobody wants to be him as his reputation is so abysmal. We have 4 people so somebody will need to take the hit.
The tier list is not accurate for the playing experience in JOTL as it is an overview of how the Demo works in all situations and the Demo does not port well into orig Gloomhaven. Can actually be pretty solid in JOTL especially if you have someone who really pays attention to positioning and can destroy obstacles to strengthen themselves!
You only have 9 cards in your hand, and you keep recommending cards with loss. I really think you can only last long enough if you only take one loss card.
