I watched the entire thing. I found your channel from searching buffy because I had considered rewatching it for the first time in about 16 years or so. Thats the last time I saw an episode anyway and I never saw it all but most of it. I listened to every video while studying actually so thanks for a soothing background to stressful study. I knew of the joshs whedon news regarding his behaviour from the actress who played cordelia and also gal gadot among others on the set of Justice League. I am usually one to be like "well you can appreciate someones work just because the person is bad, but hearing what you said about Xander made a lot of sense; and if i do decide to watch through it again I think i wont be able to unsee that. I think whedon is a great writer, I just wish he was not an A hole >

Josh Whedon viewing himself as Xander makes so much sense, I agree with everything you said and I think the shows biggest flaw is the normalization of Xander's behavior and that feels like 100 percent Whedon's voice coming through. I agree about compartmentalizing creator from creation, obviously Whedon played a huge role but when I think about Buffy I think about Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Marsters, Eliza Dushku, Charisma Carpenter, Amber Benson, Alyson Hannigan, etc. Those people are what made Buffy, the show and characters come to life imo. Also, your stories about early internet obsession with the show are so funny and relatable. I never got super, super into fan fiction for things I liked but I remember back in the day going on videogame forums and anime forums or whatever I was into at the time and you could post threads and people would actually see it and have conversations, it felt more close knit than the internet today. Stuff like reddit feels so gigantic to me compared to tiny forums from the early 00's. But anyway, shout out to Shadow of Lotus who lit the spark with their request and of course to you Danielle for making this series.🧛♀💤
Yes, agreed, that's definitely the biggest flaw. Thankfully, the talent, strength and beauty of all these other people vastly outshine Xander's annoying presence. And exactly! The old internet just felt small. On these forums, you truly felt like you were part of a family of sorts. Everyone that was on there, was there out of interest and love for whatever the topic was. Trolling was barely a thing yet at the time. I really tried getting into fandoms later on, but it just feels like the internet as it is now is not made for genuine interactions like that. I'm sure it's still happening here and there, but it's not the same, in my opinion.

I never finish the show, I stopped during season 3 (quite recently, like a couple of years ago). And after season 1, all I could say was : "It's a nice show, but every single man in it is problematic. Xander is the worst." Now, it makes sens. I hope you will return with new ASMR content, but if you don't, it's okay. Take care of yourself. NB : When I saw the title of this video, I thought : "Even the epilogue is in several parts !" xDDD
Yes, it's true, every man is problematic. One of the topics that I personally wanted to address in the epilogue was how Whedon does not know what a good man is, like AT ALL. But I thought making an epilogue three parts was pushing it, even for me ;). So I understand not finishing the show. I think because I was so young the first time around I didn't think about all of that and I just completely fell in love with the show and the fandom. So by the time I started seeing all of these issues, I already loved the show too much to give up on it. That's so cool that master's thesis is on fanfiction! I love that you got to research something that means so much to you. Fandom truly saved my life at the time. It's wonderful to be a part of. The MCU fandom is probably a good place to be, because I don't think that'll ever truly die, haha. Thank you so much for your support and understanding

There is nothing wrong with a hiatus/sabbatical/vacation. Everything will still be up, and unlike many of the ASMRtists that have taken a break we know why and how. Your job is to find the spark of joy and finding whatever fulfillments in life create that sweet sweet dopamine. Or just be a tiktok creator, get millions of views and get about 5 Euros a month

Usually when editing I have it on in the background while I'm doing something else and I only pay attention to edit out background sounds or mistakes and interruptions, but I'm not actually listening. 2nd comment ^^ I relate so much about the insomnia and the fanfictions and the fandoms. I was in the french fandom of Harry Potter 15 years ago, and i'm in the MCU fandom now. I met my best friends because of fanfictions. It means so much to me that my final essay of my master's degree is about fanfictions xD
I started watching! I am on episode 4. So sad that the Angel and Buffy thing is over, but so far season 4 is holding up. I don't want to watch too much because I don't want any spoilers. I will have to come back once I am done.
One thing about Xander that really bugs the hell out of me that I never hear get brought up by anyone who has problems with Xander is that he never faces any consequences for his actions in "Once More, With Feeling". Everyone always gushes over what a great episode it was, but everyone seems to conveniently forget how the plot occurred in the first place, nobody ever talks about the fact that Xander summoned that demon, the demon came to Sunnydale and was responsible for making several people dance until they literally burst into flames and died in excruciating agony! Have we all gone mad to just write that off at the start of the next episode like it never happened? Look at what Giles went though in season 2 when his past came back to haunt him, he had to face the consequences of summoning a demon in his youth with Ethan Rayne and some of his other friends. But there was never anything like this for Xander in future episodes, he completely gets away with summoning a demon who killed people and thus Xander is responsible for those innocent people being dead. But he gets a pass because it resulted in fun songs and dances for all of the characters? Sorry but that's total nonsense! I think that was poor writing by the people behind the season and Joss to not address what Xander did and have real consequences for him, not one mention of any guilt over what he did. Xander then later goes on in the very same season to break Anya's heart by leaving her at the alter after he was the one who proposed to her! But then he can't go through with it because of his own insecurities, then in the next episode he comes back and just wants to get back with Anya, still date her even though he just crushed her! As if Anya would want to take him back right after that horrible wedding disaster! I guess you can say the only payback Xander got was being captured by a demon in season 7 and almost being sacrificed but Buffy saves him. He later lost an eye fighting with Buffy so that is also some redemption, but I think for the most part Xander got away with some inexcusable behavior that other characters probably wouldn't have. I am not one of the Xander bashers out there, I actually like the character and I think he does have a good heart and I really enjoy his jokes and relationship with Willow, especially the high school years. But the demon summoning resulting in innocent deaths and blowing off Anya the way he did never sat right with me. I mean look at all the guilt and shame Spike went through for his attempted rape of Buffy and Xander never missed a moment to dump on Spike any chance he got from season 5 onward, but Xander himself literally got away with so much and it wasn't fair at all. About the Joss Whedon stuff, whatever he did or didn't do he still created Buffy and gave us a great show so I am still very thankful for Joss. If not for him there would be no Buffy, Angel or Firefly to watch and talk about over and over for the rest of our lives. His creations are great and I wish they all could have gone on for more seasons. Hopefully he'll reflect on his actions and someday him and the cast can come together and be friends again, because the cast being at odds with the creator isn't just terrible for them it's horrible for the fans to have to live with too. I really like your videos, good job on all of them.
Funny thing is, I could! It's like a weird and fairly useless superpower, I can talk about anything for hours and I don't even need a response. Whenever my sisters went through a break up, they would ask me to talk them to sleep and I'd sit by their bed and just talk for hours.
