Hey, heroes! I'm streaming on Twitch again this weekend! On Saturday I'll be finishing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow while on Sunday it's more of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom!

So essentially, Patsy was an Archie Comics character in a very Archie Comics setting. Even to the point of being the 'Betty' to Hettie's 'Veronica' in a comedic love triangle. This was, of course, back in the Golden Age and when she transitioned into the Silver Age of Marvel, those original stories were retconned into being in-universe comics of a fictional version of Patsy. However, still interesting to see such an Archie-type character transition into a Superhero character.
It's like how Hank Pym, in his first appearance, was just a scientist character in a sci-fi adventure one-off. But when Superheroes started to become popular again in the late 50s-early 60s, he appeared again now re-invented as a Superhero.
'THIS CHANNEL IS EXCELSIOR' ..
100%
It really is
Totally
Yep
Patsy's "real" father being named "Stanely" is hilarious, since a certain Stanley Lieber wrote her original comic.
I love this episode. I remember Hellcat from The Defenders comics I had as a little kid. But Patsy Walker was also in Jessica Jones Netflix series.
Loved this episode. Defenders is a personal favorite (Englehart, Gerber, Kraft... it was a well written book that got lucky with creators) and Hellcat was a classic "bubble head with hidden depths" character. Now, how about Rachel Summers aka Phoenix getting covered?
In a world of fakes, wiki readers and MCU stans- this channel is by far the best and most legit Marvel lore expert on UA-cam! Really hope this channel blows up to counter all the inaccurate and out of context info most "experts" put out there!
I only encountered Hellcat through that one story where Moon Knight and the Defenders fight Scorpio and his Zodiac creations.
Man did I not realize the history of her.
Thank you for yet another video about these interesting characters.
I love when euphemisms slip in, like at 2:13 when you said she is a "friend of Dorothy" haha
Such a great character with an outside the comics history as rich as an inside the pages history. From an Archie knockoff, to a Marvel superhero, and into Marvel's attempt at a Vertigo line. She is the glue that connects so many different aspects of Marvel Comics.
So as long as you've done one redhead superhero how about a video on RED NORVELL, the red headed Thor stand in.
As always MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!!
I love Patsy Walker; I wish Marvel would do omnibus editions of her 1940s-1950s comics. Also, what the hell happened to her brother Mickey?
she´s awesome! hope we get to see more stories from her.
This is so interesting! I never knew Marvel had something like the Archie Comics then turned the main character into a superhero. There’s so much backstory of a regular life before going into the extraordinary
Sounds like Patsy Walker was a Archie type comedy character. Then, as the years went on, she got re-packaged into the main marvel universe with superheroes!
the connection they made with Patsy Golden Age and her heroin version... incredible
This channel has many origin stories but it has never covered one of the most important "villains" in Marvel history GALACTUS!!!!
wooow that could be a great video
For years I've heard about this book. But god forbid that I picked it up. But listening to you go on about it has relieved the pain of enduring knowing of it. Great job 👏 👍
Hell Yeah! We got some Hell Cat!
Wow, Netflix really changed a lot for their version.
When I was a kid the Patsy comic was still around thanks to yard sales and some friends older sisters' abandoned collections and even caught my eye for a second when she (and the Whizzer) cameoed in the FF wedding. But it read as an Archie ripoff to me (with Patsy switching for Archie and maybe Betty) so I didn't give it a chance. But once she showed up as Hellcat (especially once a Defender) she became one of favorites back then. I definitely regret that long interval; I can only imagine how shocking and exciting it'd have been to be a fan of her series and get to watch the transformation from that view-point. Great recap of her history and cool editing with the comic panels.
hellcat is awesome, and the connection they made with Patsy Golden Age and her heroin version... magnificent
You rock and I love that you are who you are and do what you do.
Hellcat is one of my favorite characters!
The 2023 5 issue Hellcat series was surprisingly deep in continuity yet still accessible without knowing everything in this video.
One of your very best episodes on one of my all-time favorites. Make Mine Defenders!
These new writers sure love to do a number on long beloved characters.
They destroy them IMO. :(
Yea, they excel at driving off long time Marvelites...thankfully there's the Epic trades, Masterworks etc
Sure, if you consider J.M. DeMatteis in the '80s or Warren Ellis in the '90s "new writers".
@@aldinbaroza9640 ah yes, the Defenders run featuring great Mike Golden covers w/ the Don Perlin interiors.
@@aldinbaroza9640 I do !
Thank you for this information of certain characters of the marvel universe keep up the great work
Great articulation, the performance was top notch and very entertaining
Hellcat is awesome! Thanks for the video!
Great video (as always). Do Blonde Phantom next please?
The art work for the earlier appearances for Patsy Walker reminded me of the early Archie Comics of the late 1940's. And I remember how Millie the Model Comics went from a Romance Comic in the 1960's, to a Archie-like humor comic about the mid-1960's to the later 1960"s, and I believe early 1970's.
I totally forgot how cool I thought Patsy was when I was a little kid. The Defenders were very cool back then. I haven't seen some of these books in 40yrs. Thank you
defenders are awesome. and the connection they made with Patsy Golden Age and her heroin version... amazing
Great work
Defenders was a wild comic
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
Can you do history of the Elementals(Hellfire, Magnum, Hydron and Zephyr), Bastion, Master Mold, Nimrod, Inferno, Zora_Vukovic Victorious, Night Nurse, Moondragon, Phyla_Vell and Genis-Vell along with the Supreme Intelligence, Puppet_Master, Diablo, Mole_Man and Angel Salvador/Tempest along with Exodus and Ex-Nhilo?
Can you do history of Ironheart, Amatsu-Mikaboshi, Arno_Stark Iron Man, Squirrel_Girl, Constrictor, Deathlok, Amadeus_Cho, the Griever, Pepper Potts AKA Rescue and the Agents of Atlas along with Crescent, Morgan_Le_Fey, White Fox and Luna Snow?
Wow... hellcat's even cooler than I thought
Can you do history of the Living_Brain, the Elementals, Cyclone, Hydro Man, Molten Man, Puck, Sandman, Rom_the_Spaceknight, Stingray, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Ava Ayala the White Tiger, Crossfire, Living Laser, Century, Lore and Technovore?
Are you going to do history of lesser known characters like Rom_the_Spaceknight, Stingray, Ultimo, Inferno, Zora_Vukovic Victorious, Flerken, Blacklash, Deathlok, Elematrix, Vertigo, Masked Raider, Red_Wolf, Tarantula, Forge, Bishop, Titanium_Man, Crimson Dynamo, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Kobik AKA the Cosmic Cube, Blizzard, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Bastion, Master Mold, Nimrod, Starhawk, Fixer, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, the Controller, Madam_Masque, Count_Nefaria, Ava Ayala the White Tiger, Crossfire, Living Laser, Century, Lore and Technovore?
A good example of fact that Marvel does not forget ANYTHING
They took a teen romcom book from their Atlas days and a costume Tigra used to wear before she was interesting and they merged them into a fan favorite.
Nothing in comics is ever really GONE just...waiting.
Patsy has an incredible advantage
Ps this is my favorite channel
This character is so easily adaptable to the MCU. Hellstrom can be Mephistos son. Her story of wanting to be a hero would be inspiring. The return of Hulk could make the Defenders a top tier team in future movies. I like side characters like Moondragon and Mad Dog as well.
I love Hellstorm stories
Can you do history of Master Pandemonium, Sleepwalker, D'Spayre, Lilith, Chthon, Mephisto, Black heart, Dormammu, Clea, Nightmare and Pkzkrfmknna along with Firestar and Vance_Astrovik AKA Justice?
Patsy Walker summoning a genie out of a lamp is no longer canon? Say it ain't so!
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video?
I love this channel.
Which power of Hellcat is the best which we wish to have in real life between Titanian Mental Enhancements which she unlocked with the help of Moondragon or Demonic empowerment which she had during her time in the realm of Mephisto where she overpowered his son Blackheart? Can you do history of Moondragon, Mephisto and Blackheart?
So when are you going to do history of Zora_Vukovic Victorious since you did the history of Dr_Doom?
11:50 Oooooh... Catfight! Meee-ow!
I might not watch this as I know Hellcat is former model Patsy Walker who became Hellcat and had an abusive husband who became the costumed Mad Dog. I don't know what her character has been doing over the last two decades though.
The HellCats is a great MST3K episode.😊
This one im not sure about but im p sure its Day-mon
Loved her as Hellstorms girlfriend in The Defenders.
What do you think Hellcat would be like if she her Dad didn't leave her when she was young, if she was in good terms with her mother didn't file a divorce on Daimon Hell storm and so on?
Patsy Walker did have an innocent crush on Reed Richards (founder of the Fantastic Four) when she was a teen... There is nothing wrong with that, and despite being middle-aged, I also have an innocent crush on a 33-year-old woman from Philadelphia.
This was sweet 🎂
Do you think you can do one on Arnim Zola?
Marvel should do a few golden age Patsy Walker omnibus collections for the die hards that need to own absolutely everything!
I totally agree
Can you do an origin on Sandman?
With all of this history, I realize now that the Jessica Jones TV series really did her dirty.
What type of hero is Hellcat compared to Daimon Hell storm, Black Cat and Tigra? What would happen if she fought against them?
Black Cat is an anti-heroine who Hellcat would fight as a Defender.
Tigra and Hellcat oddly had very similar origins which would face decades of revisions.
I imagine the M.C.U. (Patricia “Patsy” Walker) of Earth-616 Realm, she looks different from the version of NETFLIX show (JESSICA JONES) & I imagine that she is a descendant of a InHuman, who I imagine married a woman in the far distant past.
Patsy Walker. No woman has ever gotten so much out of wearing another woman's outfit.
Which team where Hellcat was a part of is the best between the Avengers and the Defenders? What do you think she would be like if she was part of the A-Force team?
W
Wow 🤩 always wondered about this character literally hot as hell lol 😂 that’s pretty deep man and you did not just say that the suicide thing lol 😆 good one I respect 🫡 that someone needs to
This was more entertaining than it had any right to be.
What all movies and shows has Hellcat appeared in? What do you think she would be like if she appeared in the MCU?
What do you think is the best thing about Hellcat in the comics? Which one of her powers and abilities do you think is the best?
Why "Die-Moan" instead of Damon? I've never heard it pronounced this way before. Also... I have Hellcat's first appearance, fresh off the spinner!
Wait a minute? New fans and creators on twitter keep telling us that no female characters existed before they fixed comics for us? Then how come so many other fans imagined the exact same countless great female characters that I assumed I must have imagined?
What?
Which one of the fantasy stories of Hellcat do you think is the best?
Her mother is just pure evil.
Hi, do you have a UPI?
I don't have a Patreon. I can contribute to your channel in my currency that is Indian National Rupees.
See if you can have a UPI. Thanks.
The animation style of the comics that are based on Patsy's childhood kind of remind me of the Archie comics starting with the Riverdale gang.
That's because those are Patsy's actual comics from the 40s. Patsy is the only character other than Namor and CaptainAmerica to move from the Golden Age into the Silver Age when Timely became MarvelComics. Her original series was a very popular romance and teen comedy series.
@@jerfuhrer2581 I had a feeling that was the case. I also love how they kind of worked all that into the current close annuity as saying a lot of Patsy's golden age adventures were documented into a line of comics with some exaggerations here and there.
@@benjaminfeld6388 yeah, I think that's really cute! Patsy Walker comics irl lasted from 1941 until something like 1956. Then Marvel decided to bring her back in the 1970s with some light retconning.
@@jerfuhrer2581was Patsy better in the Silver Age Comics or in the Golden Age Comics? Is she a well known Marvel character?
@@quentinfogger5755 well, Patsy was at her MOST popular in the Golden age, as that's when romance comics like Patsy Walker, Heddy Wolf, Archie, etc were popular. Most of the time, she was self contained and didn't seem like she inhabited the same world as the Marvel Superheroes until they folded her in with them in the 70s.
But in terms of sales, she was quite popular, even to the point of outselling Archie at times. And when all of the other teen romance books dropped out of sight, the only ones left were Archie and Patsy Walker.
😊😊
16:08 All those hell lords. Why aren't there any heaven lords led by Jesus who keep the demons under control and help humanity?
16:03 for those who have said Mephisto is the same being as the devil, need I say more?
