Spirit confirms that converted Centurions can buff your champions. For the Japanese, their Champions will attack 78% faster if they have a converted Elite Centurion near the Champions.

That was truly riveting! I'm also curious what the outcome would look like if a Centurion survived to lend its "aura" boost to the Legionaries in the subsequent fight.

Either those ninjas are in service to the daimyo or they are planning to kill him now that his samurai are defeated.
Samurai losing to Legionnaires is dumb. They're supposed to counter unique units, especially melee focused ones, so them getting beat every single time removes a lot of their prestige.
Special upgrades of generic units don't count as unique units
Just because you think something is cool in movies, doesn't make it superior to it's counterparts in history. A thing can be superior in it's local region's threats, but can be also inferior to it's counterparts back in history from distant lands. Samurai's never had a vast industry behind them to supply training and weaponary, Legions on the other hand had every equipment and opportunity and training provided to them, and they were trained in active/passive combat.
For Legions, combat/death/wars were more an active/daily part of their life, compared to Samurai's. That translates to some difference.
In what way games want to implement it is a different story.
@@ChargedPulsar historical that is wrong , even in this battle samurai shld hav won , the reason being the time difference between each of these unit's realtime existence the samurai were active from 12-19th century while the legionnaire were activ till beginning of 4th century,this time lapse between means tech advancement too steel industries for went through a big development. Sure romans had good steel but the Japanese steel and swordsmiths are the best in the world. Roman legionnaire starts training at the age of 25, samurai on the other hand are warrior caste that are from Nobel families they start training from the moment they start walking . This training entitles sword , archery, horse riding, hand to hand, spear weilding and some houses even trained their samurai in musketeering ( muskets from Dutch and portuguese merchants nobunaga for eg) . One on one the chances of Roman legionnaires winning against the samurai is zero they r better individual fighters . The games has made legionnaires op
@@SM853 The fact that the in-game classification hasn't caught up yet is the point.
The only way to get Legionnaires is to play a specific civ, which is exclusive to a subpar game DLC, and they are completely unavailable to anyone else.
They are melee units, they do extra damage to melee units, there's no way to beat them with Japanese champions, allowing the samurai to retain it's bonus damage against rare enemy types is an example of fair game design. Otherwise what's the point? Every time Forgotten Empires institutes a new change to the game, that they forget about their own game balance?
It's not justifiable, in this case.
@@xotl2780 Getting pissed at civs is the most basic AoE experience since forever, you're not entirely wrong but you can still convert a centurion and make your champions the best in the game or simply make hand cannoneers

samurais replace champs and ninjas become new unique unit
ive been telling this since the legionay came. it is a must. i dont agree that ninja should be the UU. ninja should be done in barracks instead of champions.

I guess because of the fact it is an upgrade to the militia line than a separated unite
