- The King and Queen Consort have presented new Standards and Colours to the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force at Buckingham Palace.
It is the first Colours presentation at which all three services of the Armed Forces have been represented. The four Colours and Standards which were consecrated will be seen during the coronation procession on Saturday 6th May.

King Charles III with his very loyal and loving consort Queen Camilla getting Crowned is going to be an indelable memory for me. Diana was the first to cheat during the marriage, she admitted it. Her first extra marital affair was with Barry Manakee her protection officer in 1985. Charles didn't go back to Camilla until 1986, after he found out about Diana's cheating.

My mother just turned 100 and we realised she’s lived during the reigns of 5 sovereigns.

Tradition and heritage is so very important to preserve in the modern world, therefore the only silly thing would be to replace such beauty and history with bland and boring so-called “modernity”. Nations who are advanced enough to have such foresight (such as England/ the United Kingdom), understand this, and have therefore protected so much of their rich history, rituals, ceremonies, institutions etc. Also, the monarchy brings in way, way more money than they take (e.g. the Coronation will be paid for many times over with the huge number of people descending on London for that specific weekend alone), plus the money they do take goes mostly to things that would need to be paid for regardless (e.g. castles and palace maintenance- which is what the largest sum of money goes towards).

I was one of those people who thought is this really necessary, we know he is goi to be the king and all that but looking at the history and how this honors not only the royal family but the military services and the unity that the UK has shown I now understand the importance of of every ceremony and what they stand for

That was so touching and even thrilling! When I watch the Royal Ballet, the closed curtain always reads E R II. Now all the ballet, opera, and theater curtains will have to be revised to C R III. There is something uniquely dramatic in a new king taking his place with the new flag and colours.

Yes, there is much more to the coronation than just the actual ceremony, as KC III is Commander-in-Chief of ALL the forces, so this requires changing the Queen's ER II emblem/crest, to that of the new CR 3 one... on all the flags, buildings and officers' uniforms. The BeefEaters at the Tower of London also had to have new specifically handmade uniforms. So the coronation has created a lot of jobs for hundreds of crafts people.

I am so proud of King Charles and how he has turned out. I met him at a Palm Beach Polo Match 38 years ago and found him to be a regular guy with a great interest in people. I am happy to see that he is happy and has Camilla by his side as his Queen. They have my very best wishes and I will be watching on the 6th.

The king has now made it official he is the head of the Armed Forces , The flags represent the British Army the Royal Airforce and the Royal Navy where as the flags for each previously had the insignia on the flags of the queen example

As an American I wish I could understand the meaning of this beautiful ceremony.
A very quick explanation. These are colours and in the past when infantry fought in line (for example the Napoleonic Wars) the colours were used so that units could be identified in the smoke and confusion of battle - both for commanders and the soldiers. As such colours represented the regiment - later they were awarded to units by the monarch. The combination of the regiment’s identity and the Royal award is (simplistically) what leads to the tradition.
