They’re either blind already…or going to go blind very soon 😂 I do watch in a dark room but on auto brightness (funnily enough HDR content still pops even in a dark room on auto-low brightness)…I think because when playing HDR content the lighter scenes raise the brightness in those particular areas (beauty of Mini LED with over 2500 local dimming zones)
@@ViktorFury I’ve seen a bit of blooming but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be (in real life). The photos circulating Reddit taken with a camera are blown out of proportion. Blooming is a thing, there’s no denying it, but it’s barely noticeable unless you’re looking for it. Now I can’t comment on reading apps as I don’t use them but watching HDR content sometimes you see a bit of blooming on the play/pause section on darker scenes but like I said it’s barely noticeable (unless you’re watching on full brightness in a dark room which literally NOBODY does).
@@maxwilkes7086 There must be significant variance between panels then because you really can't say it's 'barely there'. Does it ruin the entire experience? Absolutely not. But it is a genuine surprise that Apple sent something out the door with an obvious issue like this. Turn on subtitles, bloom. Any apps or interfaces in dark mode with white text? Bloom everywhere. Try something like the Apollo app, or Procreate, or Kindle (in dark mode). Sit in a slightly dim room (one bedside lamp on for example) and have your brightness at low - medium. If you don't see it, then you need your eyes checked. It's worth it for me given the otherwise stellar quality of the display but it's still incredibly disappointing.
I love my 2021 iPad and have zero complaints. But buy what you want that best fits what you use it for. I’m not gonna hate on someone for preferring the Samsung.

The initial battery comparison 100 vs 97% should consider that iOS tends to hold on to 100% longer than Samsung phones which drop quickly initially. They tend to swap roles at lower percents with iPhones draining faster and Android seemingly more spread out
@@TCPUDPATM to be fair, they all do in some shape or form, just because: a) it's an estimate (never 100% accurate). b) psychological mindplay for ease of mind of the consumer. I'm my experience Samsungs hold onto 100 percent for a long time. I have both Apple and Samsung devices and I never really noticed that on the Apple devices but on my Note 20 Ultra it's really noticeable.
Great comparison. Owning both tablets as well, here are just a few points: - on Tab S7+ you can use face unlock AND fingerprint unlike iPad Pro - Tab S7+ shows 1080p video quality (zoom, google meet, etc) compared to iPads 720p quality - when watching videos (UA-cam, HBO Max, etc), S7+ form factor is way superior. iPads box shape makes the two black bars really annoying I’m happy with both tablets overall. iPads plethora of apps makes it the best tablet though. -
Clearly, you didn’t get the latest iPad Pro. My M1 got 1080p front facing camera and way better microphones than any device. I agree on square making watching films more difficult but much easier for touch interface.
Honestly, the iPad looks amazing. I’m really impressed by the new display. 98% of the time I’m in a room with some kind of light on or I’m not running at full brightness and never see the blooming. 👍
Me too. This blooming issue, is way overblown. Even in a dark room, it's not even an issue. Now if you max out your brightness just to exaggerate the issue, then you have problems
Of course hdr content pops more on a brighter display but most content is not in hdr and looks better on OLED. Mini LED has only like 1000 leds compared to million leds on OLED. The reflective coding gives a wrong impression on OLED here.

Too true. That's the actual whole point of having super brightness of mini-led. to not make you watch shit under super dark room. There's reason why OLED display is preferred on dark room instead of well lit ones, it's because despite having complete black, it won't go as bright.
Sorry but it is silly to run the performance benchmarks and pretend to be surprised by it. You are comparing a desktop class processor (albeit still an ARM based processor) with a true mobile class processor. The Snapdragan 865+ was never built to compete against desktop class processors. It would have been a closer and more interesting comparison to run this against the A12z processor of last gen's iPad Pros or against the iPad Air's A14 processor. Also, looking at your other videos, you already know how well the M1 chip performs where it bested Intel Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, so, please just skip the theatrics of comparing the cpu benchmarks.

@@MLWJ1993 yeah, it may be a marketing strategy to make people buy the fancier device, but i think because apple tends to want their consumer products to last as long as possible compared to other manufacturers, so the more expensive yet doesnt affect much is the display panel, which average user finds the cheaper ipad display already quite good, i see some manufacturers they drop down the performance, speaker quality, chassis made with plastic, but go all in with display, yeah the display is good, but the overall experience just wasn’t that great especially watching movie and the device will go laggy in like 2-3 years, but well those device usually also comes cheap so i think both ways are fine, and having both ways, makes us consumer choose what we want, i think it’s good, more choices
I think you should make it known that the Samsung is almost one year old at this point so until Samsung releases this year's Galaxy tab,the iPad is going to beat the Samsung in most places hardware wise.Hopefully the Tab s8+ comes with top notch hardware

@@Kafuixx not really. Apple focuses on more integrated experience that works. The keyboard accessories for the Tab lines are always mediocre and they don’t even compare to the Magic Keyboard or the Apple Pencil. They are good, but at the same level of polish like Apple’s. That and good luck finding quality accessories like cases. I have had my Tab S7 for 3 months and I have already ran into so many bugs and the software isn’t there yet.
It's super weird though. I have the Tab S6 which has the same kind of face unlock. It doesn't work in a dim environment and only works if I hold it directly in front of my face in regular environments.
I normally enjoy your videos and I know going in you're an Apple guy (as I am) but this was over the top homerism. Benchmarks are raw #'s and you know that. What matters to the average user is the app experience. Yes you focused on the displays and if you had left it at that, I wouldn't be commenting like this . But once you brought benchmarks in, you changed the terms. Maybe that iPad Pro would still handily beat the S7+ in app launching and game play but I think you owe us that comparison now. *(side note)* I absolutely love my M1 12.9 iPad Pro but multitasking on the S7+ is night/day better and you get a full screen desktop experience when connected to an external monitor.
Your 100% right the only reason that they ipad pro has higher benchmark cause it has the more powerful m1 chip and those benchmarks r true but does it matter because they tab s7+ I could even get they s5 n never use full power with very heavy graphic detail UHD gaming and power is just marketing and those benchmarks represents the powerhouse in them and also matter if u could utilize it apple always makes their processor over powerful and all those limitations ruin the purpose of apple having the best processor in the market if Apple remove all these limitations then this power makes sense if you wanna make something simple add the power needed or maybe slightly more power. To be honest with you this us all asucse to raise up the price. Same things with smartphones we don't need 16 or 18 GB ram on such a tiny processor we don't need glass back we don't need stainless steal instead they could add galsstic back which is more durable and premium feel we all pretty much rock cases and the polish aluminum to get the stainless steel looks r enough to be honest again we rock our smartphones with cases and we can't feel that premium materials. Tbh I wish they could upgrade their candy bar phone with glasstic back and polished aluminum steel mimicking this could decrease the cost of the smartphones to 699 or 749 and I'd much prefer that than pay almost double 4 premium materials I feel like slowly tablets are gonna have stainless steal band with frosted glass back n top tear camera to raise up the cost and right now if u were to ask me the tab s7+ strategy is a smart strategy. Not many ppl care about camera on tablets not many ppl in general care bout glass back or stainless steel but for note 20 regular model it should have had a glass back def even they regular s21 they regular s22 getting glass finally as not only they r in the flagship line up but also they cost alot if they note 20 costed 599 then od been like fine n that's the type of stuff I want top tear everything and just the right materials and not top tear I feel like materials have over 70% of the cost increase impact cause I feel like they s22 note w galsstic back n polished aluminum would lower the cost of the phone to atleast 799 or maybe 699.

As an owner of the new M1, the blooming does not bother me at all and only appears rarely. Photos and videos really exaggerate the bloom. I am so in love with this iPad. I’d take this display any day over any other in the market.
Max Tech are clearly apple fans who either dont know or dont tell that Apple is clearly over reporting the battery status in the beginning so it stays much longer on 100% battery than it should. Also i bet he dident put the Tab S7 on auto brightness when he put it to max brightmess, as that is the only way it can reach its highest brightness. And of course HDR content pops more on a brighter display but most content isnt in HDR but SDR, there he should compare it aswell and there the colours will pop more on the Tab S7.
I understand how that is, It's the same reason why audiophiles reviewing new speakers will go to a set track list of recordings that they know well. When you know what something "should" sound like thorn you have a good reference to compare to. Doesn't even have to be "good", just known.
After comparing the speakers on my Tab S7+ to my new iPad Pro I can say that it's not that the iPad speakers have more bass… they’re slightly muffled on the high end with less stereo separation. The sound feels very centered, whereas the Tab S7 has similar amount of bass, but because it has more clarity and stereo separation, the bass is not as emphasized.
My M1 iPad Pro and S7+ have really good speakers. With ATMOS turned on in settings, I think I prefer my S7+ for overall sound quality (but it’s really close)

Thank you for this comparison, I was looking for exactly this match to take place 😁 The display results were not what anyone would have guessed considering on paper OLED in most cases beats LED/LCD and comparing two screens next to each other the difference is clearly visible although mostly based on the higher nits on the iPad screen imho. Let's see how Samsung fights back with the new Tab S8 soon 🙃
Every reputable reviewers on UA-cam has said that the Tab S7 Plus has the best display on a tablet period and this guy has the gall to says a LCD has deeper black than an Oled. This is laughable. My guess is that he did some adjustments to make the S7 looks grey like that because if you watch any other review of the S7, black is black. This is sad on his part to smear Samsung like that.

Not worth 400$ difference for 99.9% of users . Aspect ratio of Samsung is much better for media consumption, a main use of a tablet. It's not a laptop. Downplaying strengths of the competition screams fanboy. I don't just buy Samsung or apple products but for a very comparable tablet you act like 40% more is okay because it's apple. For those who don't make tons of money that's a huge point to just glaze over dude.
This is a lame comparison ... the one thing that apple fanboys keep pointing to about the m1 processors is power draw and battery performance ... I was hoping that would come up at some point: since the m1 is new to the iPad and probably would sip more battery life than the bionic chips ... but that important stat is missing from this video ... This is not a place to be if you’re really serious on making a purchase and considering different options ... this is an apple fanboy channel.
I think the biggest factor in buying an iPad will be what Apple does with iPad OS with the M1 chips in the Pro. If iPad OS is still the same, I would much rather have a new bionic chip instead of M1. Even without changes made though, Apple already has a leg up in terms of apps. Premier doesn't work on Tablets on Android. iPad OS has desktop photoshop, LumaFusion is a powerful editing and color grading tool, garageband, if you know what you're doing can be a powerful music production tool, and Procreate is actually very good for $10. Just using the Pocket version on my iPhone, I like it a lot more than Ibis Paint and a lot of the other drawing Apps on my Tab S6.
@@UProductions457 the next logical step to me would be to just install Mac OS on the iPad. I mean if you truly want desktop-like experience on a tablet why not go on and put the desktop os on it? Since it’s already running a desktop-capable cpu?

I wish you would have switched the iPad to your right hand during the test to eliminate any light angle issues. When both are flat on the desk your arms can be seen in both screens. However, the iPad reflectivity is much less. Thanks for the video. Have you done a reflectivity test between the 11 and 12.9 M1 iPad Pros? Would be interesting to see. And between the 2020 and 2021 models. I still think the 12.9 M1 iPad Pro has a hefty price tag for most users.

It’s not “controversial” because of the blooming. The blooming is very minimal, and has been said elsewhere, is pretty much impossible to see, except under test conditions. $40,000 monitors use a few hundred backlighting sections. That’s much worse. A lot of the differences have to do with cost. There are good and bad OLED displays. Same thing with coatings. All related to cost. Apple could possibly have used their iPhone OLED screens on the iPad, but it would cost a fortune. Tv OLED screens are a different technology than phone OLEDs, for those who think that LG Tv OLED screens could have been used. Those screens are pretty dim, averaging between 450-500 nits, with a high of about 650.
LG OLED doesn't scale well to smaller sizes though if you were to use the same "technology" (without even mentioning the difference in energy consumption to drive the thing). Similarly the small OLED displays from phones (that look better) don't scale too well to bigger sizes because the yields for those aren't great enough to keep cost low enough.
I would take the iPad display any day of the week if it only loses at max brightness dark content in a pitch black room, which is what, 1% of an users usage, or even less...
The Samsung display is actually grey even when not using it(turned off). Same thing with my tab S5 where on the other hand my phone with an Oled display both a dark picture and when turn off is deep black, can't even see the bezel of my phone. For some reason I don't understand why Samsung did this, that reflective thing ruins it completely.
No matter how good ipad is, unless they ditch that restricted OS, the tab is better because of how much you can do with it (proper file manager, installing apps outside store, Dex, etc.) and with Android 12 now improving tablet modes, it's simply better
I personally only paid $425 for the 512gb tab s7 plus directly from samsung after edu discount so that is a much better deal than the ipad. I use both ios and android and the ipad is a much better tablet, but best bang for buck is the samsung especially at the disounted price i got it at.
They both have pros and cons. iPad erformance wise leave the Tab to the dust, but Galaxy Tab (Android) give the most user experience in many aspect better than iPad. I have 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2020 that looks limited and slower when I did transfer file, download video file using Amazon compare to my Galaxy Tab which is strange. But that's the best of Android apps.

I have had both and I also have the macbook pro M1. The screen on the Samsung tab S7 plus is simply better than the ipad pro with respect to contrast. The ipad screen would have beaten image tab s7 plus if it was amoled but it only wins on peak brightness which I doubt many people would set it that high. It loses badly in contrast with all the back-light bleeding and blooming. I am really happy with the macbook pro as my portable laptop and I would love to see an amoled screen in the next gen but the current display is good enough. I sold my ipad and kept the Tab S7 plus as it also came with a great pen for the price and I absolutely enjoy the oled screen. Apple missed a big chance by going with an lcd.
Something I just wanna point out about this blooming thing. The higher the brightness of an LCD the more likely it is to show blooming so by turning the brightness all the way up and the lights all the way off it’s almost an impossibility for an LCD not to show some blooming. I say almost. This is a very extreme case scenario. When I do stuff in the dark. I always turn the brightness down for the good of my eyes. You can do serious damage to your eyes if you don’t. Just saying. I am amazed they have gotten the contrast so high on a LCD screen. With blacks that dark.🤔
you have ignored the fact that the tabs7 plus is a standalone product one doesnt need a samsung phone for using the calling and whatsapp functions...plus an almost $400 difference if you buy apple pencil and the keyboard accessories
Also, the blooming can only be seen by cameras. I don’t see anything, looks amazing. I’m not talking about what I see on the video, I’m talking about looking at my 12.9” M1 iPad Pro. Don’t let anyone talking about blooming dissuade you.
That's just downright untrue. The blooming is extremely noticable to the eye but only in a very dark room. Assuming you don't use your iPad in the dark, in bed etc then you'll never notice it no matter how hard you try.
@@ChazTyldsley like he shows in the video. If you are going to be in a dark room with the brightness cranked all the way up. Normal people don’t do that.
@@sarrum7696 that's not it at all - it's very noticeable on low brightness in a dark room. He's not shown that test yet, instead performed the opposite of the norm like you say. It's not the worst issue in the world as it's only noticable in a dark room, but it does appear to be more of a bug of sorts than a technical issue - there's literal 1.5cm borders around objects. It doesn't add up with the technical specs touted by Apple at all in terms of the quantity of dimming zones.
Samsung did a damn good job considering you're comparing models released over 6 months apart. When samsungs latest tablet drops later this year, that'll be the test to see
@@Theodor-qo7ku - I have the s7+ but I also have a samsung phone so the ecosystem works for me. I have an iPad mini but it just doesn't work for my needs. But hey, to each their own. Both devices are solid in my opinion, just meant for different customers I guess
@@melanindread - I personally love the s7+ but the battery life could be better and the reflectivity is an issue for sure. You don't have access to some of the better note-taking apps on Apple (subjective opinion on this one) and it works best with Android phones. The aspect ratio also limits things since it's quite thin compared to iPads. Other than that, the speakers are phenomenal, screen is out of this world and I would rather use this than my iPad mini. Hopefully ??????? responds to give you another perspective
@@melanindread i have used a samsung tablet for years and now i use an ipad. In my opinion if you are planning to use it for more than 3 years never get the samsung. Ipad is in all ways a more optimised more updated software. Ipad air 4 is way better than s7+. It has the latest a14 chip and a pretty good display considering the anti reflective layer. I dont think you would complain about the screen on the ipad air 4👍
You can't really do a fair web browser test because you can't run an equivalent browser on both. Safari has very different performance than chrome and chrome on iOS is has a very different implementation than the one on android.
7:26 omitting game performance comparisons is a mistake in my opinion. Benchmarks are only lab tests that don’t necessarily translate to real world usage.
Great comparison, as always the Samsung is a great choice for entertainment on the go, with an incredible screen and really good speakers, while being thinner, lighter and with the S-Pen included. While it’s capable of some lightweight work in office, and some basic photo and video editing, that’s where the M1 shines. So much power for a tablet! 2018/2020 iPad Pro and the Samsung were very evenly matched, and just depended on usage style, but with mini LED closing the gap on the displays and even more performance 2021 is definitely the year of the iPad Pro.
The iPad is only more useful for the video editing power, but for work productivity, the ability of DeX to allow for more than 2 apps sided by side / open to work from. DeX is far more productive in this way.
@@kayj8976 I just don’t like the aspect ratio. In something like excel, I find it more useful to have more vertical space. Also better for web browsing
First, your completely wrong, for actual work, the s7 still outdoes the iPad since there is no way to connect to multiple media sources importing and exporting illness done through specific apple apps, the s7 can be used exactly as a PC with file formatting and everything. And second, it's a 2021 model being compared to a 2020 model. Samsung didn't make a new model this year. But the 2020 s7 stills beats the iPad with work and video editing unless you want to be restricted to only apple products but most video/photo editors like to seamlessly move files between devices and programs.
Ipad definitely has the power but honestly for photo and video editing the s7+ will edit my 4k drone videos no problem. The only con is software choices
What could go wrong on a tablet (not as a laptop wannabe) which includes the pen and keyboard in the price? If money is not an issue, by all means the iPad Pro wins it. But for daily and practical use of a tablet, the S7+ is not a wrong decision after all.
Neither decision is wrong... They're both powerful and useful tools. If you have the money and prefer iPadOS then get the iPad, if you like Android or think you'll make use of Dex then go with Samsung. They're both expensive, really. Money shouldnt be your deciding factor here as you are already committing to dropping that amount on a tablet and you would prefer iPad for your use case but worried about the cost so you are thinking about the s7, then just save up for a little longer and get the device that fits your need. If you compromise you will always have buyer remorse and will likely end up buying an the device you wanted in the first place later down the line anyway.
I would say that the iPad is better in every way. The screen does have some blooming the the colours look better snd the screen is also brighter. The iPad has better speakers and is a lot faster. You also can’t forget that the iPad can be part of the Apple ecosystem which can provide you a lot of advantages.
Still many apps not optimized for Ipad Pro 2021. PUBG Mobile graphics are the same to Tab S6 that I have. I believe once the app developers update and optimize it for M1, it'd be the best tablet made.
I think you should've at least updated the Tab S7+ to the latest version. Everybody knows how Samsung phones/tablets get better with updates so I won't consider this a 100% fair comparison.
This a bad review. It's definitely a biased review. You and we all knew that the benchmarks was going to be higher on the Apple. The screens are better on the Samsung! You never tested them on regular content. The Samsung colors are more vibrant and pop more than the iPad. You gotta tinker with the settings for it to come close. It's like you are avoiding doing anything that would favor the Samsung.
Yes, can’t beat my new M1 iPad Pro. Just received it last week and immediately put it through its paces. Amazing!!!!! M1 performance is out of this world. And yes, the mini led display was highly anticipated by me and is on par with my 75 inch TV LED display. In my opinion it will be very hard to equal or surpass Apple’s latest entry.
S8+ will be a very nice tablet I’m sure but in pure raw performance M1 is going to smoke the snapdragon 888. Now, that said, it will only matter if Apple has high quality apps that make advantage of that extra power.
I am on my Tab S7+ right now, idk what's up with your unit but there is no kind of reflectivity issues and nothing looks gray at all. It is clearly the better display when compared to the iPad's mini LED.
I have the 2020 12.9 and Tab s7+. Both are great. I'm sure the 2021 ipad pro is even better. I find myself using the Samsung as a tablet more because of the size (slimmer, thinner, lighter) and the Ipad more as a productivity device in conjunction with the magic keyboard. I probably enjoy the Samsung a little more.

@@ViktorFury I’ve seen a bit of blooming but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be (in real life). The photos circulating Reddit taken with a camera are blown out of proportion.
Try something like the Apollo app, or Procreate, or Kindle (in dark mode). Sit in a slightly dim room (one bedside lamp on for example) and have your brightness at low - medium. If you don't see it, then you need your eyes checked.

M1 iPad Pro: Samsung who? 😂🎤
I have been looking some information about both tablets and i found that the iPad pro takes a lot time charging more time than the s7 plus, but I'm still don't know which one i have to buy

It's because it's got a few thousand dimming zones. That means that it can turn some of them off.
