Does it? The characters and ideas are 2D cutouts. The soundtrack has soul though.
@@IanConnel well even the characters are bland and devs were trying to use honeymoon freedom fighter story, they clearly invested themselves into this game from the bottom of their heart.
I feel every character has there own story and personality though, it makes them so interesting to interact with. For me, anyways..@@IanConnel
Road 96 demonstrates what experiencing while gaming truly can be when it's not all about Raytracing, FPS or marketing sales gimmicks. Lots of soul here and the entire soundtrack is worth a listen 🙂
It lets you chill. No hard gameplay, no complicated stories. It lets you BE there, trying to get out of the country.

The chills I get, seeing another missing child and the start of this song.. They are running, but the song sings of calling home.. Every character I played, I called home... Everyone of them.. Could never go back
This song, for some reason awakens a deep sadness inside of me, i don't know if its just from the storyline of the game, but its not often a song can just make you emotional and with so little lyrics, its just perfect, Absolute masterpiece.
Same for me! Everytime I listen to this it gives me such "leave your old home behind for a better future" kind of vibes. Not as in moving away, but actually more like escaping from the horrible living conditions in your own country and leaving all your friends and family behind, knowing that you might never see them again.

@@Turner94- Also, today I walked home when it was dark outside already and I could see the stars on the night sky. It was quite cold and instantly this song came to my mind again while walking through the dark streets.

its one of those games you get nostalgic for because of its ost. Its a good game too, don't get me wrong... but damn, that OST just brings back memories on the first playthrough, what happend with your characters and theyr journey... It was a wild ride. And that OST will always let me remember that ride.
man, the chills you get when the credits start to roll,and this song, that you heard at the start of every playthrough but never entirely, starts playing ... it made a really strong impression on me and now im addicted to it.

I was sooooo excited for this game, and after playing it i still am having a really good time but though I haven't finished it yet it feels like there is tons of missed potential here.
If only the game was as good as this track....or the soundtrack in general! Still....so glad I picked this one up. Roadtrip games should be a more common genre and I just love the concept of striking it out on your own trying to survive and make it to your destination...

the candidates up for election in Road 96 are a little strange... you have who I guess is Pelosi in blue, vs. an actual portrait of Leonid Brezhnev in red! (I figure they thought gen x and z players wouldn't pick up on it, and I think they thought right....google brezhnev and you will see what I mean!)
As far as a game tho, I have some recommendations for games where you travel and adventure...I've even played some up on my channel...
-The Captain (I love this game. Just find my review on the Steam page of the game. The last time I checked, my review is the first one! (which im even a little proud of!)
-Death Road to Canada (light on story but heavy on hilarious dialogue, updates in the game's content even now, great gameplay, lots of replay value, great music...just amazing)
-Kentucky Route Zero is an adventure game that is fantastic! But dont expect to understand what is going on the first time through.
-NORCO was also a really great game I loved that was just such a masterpiece!
Anyway I hope that gets you started. If you're interested, I livestream adventure games twice per week (WED & SUN 8pm EST)...I also have a backlog of adventure games that perhaps you might want to try for yourself! Have you tried The Wolf Among Us? It's not a roadtrip game but it has the same sort of art theme and is a choice based game with a killer soundtrack. If you haven't definitely give it a shot!

Toxic avenger also made some of furis soundtrack. Furi is one of my favorite indie games so seeing them come back for another indie game almost IMMEDIATELY caught my attention.

Listening to this song while driving the backroads of a hot summer night, but the air is rather cool, is an experience. I have played quite a bit of this game now and it's AMAZING. Very unique. Like Life is Strange meets the Coen brothers. And the soundtrack takes me away from everything bad. People truly underestimate the value of driving to music at night, alone or with someone who enjoys the silence so to speak, just cruising without a care in the world.
Favorite song in the Soundtrack, this game is also so fun to play.

The Game had a lot more potential then what it ended up with
Although I appreciate they tried to keep it simple and the game is pretty good but they could have had much more of an epic ending if the 6 teens which we end up playing with were actual players and they could have met at the end for a lot of possible endings depending on who made it or didn’t make it across the border
You know how at the end of episode 9, the last episode, you end up in jail and wait out the remaining time till Election Day in jail? I kinda envisioned the other kids we briefly see and hear during that are other characters we played out that failed. And that the teens on Zoe’s side of the wall during the fight are the ones that escape
Does anyone else feel like this song is almost the same as the song in the film “Drive” with Ryan gosling? It sounds soooo similar that when I first watched that film (after playing this game) that I thought it was either a remix or the same artist
