I've been thinking about turning my colony into a giant colony to sell locally but the thought of sorting has made me hesitant. You definitely helped me get over that! Thanks man.
Hey man. Next time shake the crates into the empty tote you have and then you can easily dump them into the bucket. You dont have enough room in the bucket to give those crates a good shaking.
Dude, you're killing it! A young entrepreneur!! May be a little hard finding a girlfriend that that can stand all those Dubias! Starting up my own colony. Will support your business and check into buying some of your roach chow. Keep up the good work! Have a website? If not, get someone to help you...... you'll rake in more Dubia Dough!!
The easier way is to put all the dubia into the empty bin when cleaning the dubia off the egg flats. You have more room to bump the egg flats without risking having them get out and go free. Then you can pour those from the bin into the 5-gallon stack of buckets. I'm at the point of only feeding females to reduce the number of nymphs since I don't plan on selling them. What I was looking for was the size holes to drill to sort out my home colony. I basically need to dump the frass, and although I did not have any bugs besides dubia, there are now small black beetles that made their way into my colony. There were no bugs besides dubia when I bought my adults and it was 2 years before they appeared, so I assume they may have been eggs of some sort in fruit or veggies I fed.
Genius wow 👍🏿 awesome video have a 🙋🏼♀️ question: So you just set the food and water on top of the egg crates that way you don’t have to clean it off the bottom is that what you do?
That's interesting... I have three big colonies, I let them grow up until my roaches are so thick they are standing on top of each other and you almost can't see the egg crates anymore. At that point they breed like wild fire! I don't sort them, I just transfer them into deli cups using mixed sizes for reptile shops. Obviously I don't count them LOL. I make about $600 a month selling them online, pretty good money. I feed Mazuri 6F rodent food. I'm finally getting regular customers that will buy them on a regular basis, pretty cool.
What size are your holes in the bottom bucket? The one that separates the babies from the frass. I have been having trouble separating the babies from the frass. So I have a separate tote that put the frass and babies in and wait for the babies to grow a little bit and then separate them again. But if you found a size that works, that would be awesome.
What would you recommend for hydration? I usually just use fruits or veggies like carrots but sometimes I would prefer something I can keep a touch more long term
The owner of this video is ignoring you...use your common sence... Grab a small dubia roach and measure it with drill bits...use one thats enough bigger wider than the dubia
@Food Chain Feeders Ive been breeding what I thought are dubias, but I havent seen a single one with wings? Is there a differeent species of Dubia? It just hit me today that I hadnt seen anything with wings. They look like gigantic pill bugs (rolly polelys). With two antennae on the head.
Thank you I've seen several videos on these already I had got some I'm only down to like 10 but I'm thinking about breeding those 10, but you have had a very informative video and gave me some very good ideas thank you my friend.
@@foodchainfeeders262 Thanks! I am still a bit unsure about something, if youre constantly taking out all the babies and putting them in a feeder/growout tub, how doent your breeder colony die out?
You are wearing the mask upside down. The metal bit goes at the nose so you can form it to your nose. That also puts the exhaust valve facing down, so it doesn't blow moist air onto safety glasses. Maybe you know this, and have a good reason for wearing it that way.
Hey.. obviously this video was posted a bit ago…. I currently buy from a big name breeder, but am interested in what you have to offer. I’m currently trying to breed my own, but I have a LOT of females or either the dudes aren’t mature enough, because i literally see no males 😅 I started with 50 ransoms and added 200 randoms. They have been in my garage, I am central/southern AL, so i just brought them indoors tonight. What kind of substrate do you have them in? It looks to have “food” in it as well, seems how I didn’t see a food dish. Any help is appreciated 😊 -Mellissa 🕷️
