Back when I was in high school, my family fostered a litter of 8 puppies. Woke up one very early morning to hear crying outside my door and saw that they'd breached their pen. So, I fed them, cleaned up their pen, put them back, and then as we didn't have a space heater, I angled a blow dryer we were using instead over where they were sleeping. They formed a pyramid, crying and whining until at last...they fell asleep. I got very little sleep when we had them because I took it upon myself to watch them the most, but it was worth it 😊.
A tech at our vet's office told me surrenders have increased in part because of the large number of people who adopted dogs during the pandemic, but then decided they were too much trouble -- they had no idea what critter care entails. I had asked her about the effect of the pandemic on their operations, and since I'm a nice little old lady (despite my screen name) who she's known as a responsible "dog mom" for umpty-'leven years (or thereabouts), she was more or less triggered into spilling all the angst she had been bottling up about rudeness, people yelling at her, idiots thinking they, as first-time dog owners, knew how to care for their animals better than the vet. Poor girl's voice was quivering hard, especially when talking about the ill-prepared dolts. I was appalled at the end of the conversation, but was very glad to provide an outlet for a hard-working vet tech so she could vent, poor thing.
These little guys remind me of when I found a newborn kitten trying to crawl through our yard (the little guy's eyes weren't even fully open yet) while I was out mowing the lawn. We immediately brought the little guy inside and started asking around our development if there was any place that could take the little guy in and tend to him, and we were lucky enough to find someone who knew a group that could take and care for him until he was adopted. He found a "forever home" just a few months later. The rescue group named him Alexander, and it always brought a smile to my face to see the video clips of him as he grew prior to him being adopted. I couldn't have just left the little guy in our yard either, as we have a lot of hawks and other birds of prey in the area who would have been all too happy to make a meal out of him.
@@gamester512 Awwwww…that is such a sweet story. Thank you for rescuing the little kitten and being instrumental in him finding a forever home. 💞 Happy Holidays to you and yours…from me and mine!

Correction.WAS SAD. Because these non profits found her in time,,Momma n puppies will now have FOREVER LOVING HOMES. A great outcome to a tragic beginning.
I'd like to add my two cents in, throse adorable puppy's are up for adoption in in December just in time for Xmas, but resist the urge to give a puppy or cat for a gift! Two many times, an animal is brought back after the holidays because a pet is too much work for the recipient. Instead, maybe wait until January and go to the shelters and find a pet that will be a good fit for the family. Puppies and kittens are cute, but consider an older dog or cat!
I agree. So many people jump right in and get or give a puppy as a Christmas gift, and then sadly return them to a shelter after the holidays. These puppies are cute and cuddly now, but they can grow very large and some breeds drool all over the place. It's important to be responsible when making the decision to adopt, but I do respect those pet owners who try to save a life rather than pay a fortune to a breeder or support horrendous puppy mills. Sometimes I suggest to people that they dog sit for a friend when trying to decide whether to get a pet for themselves, so they get to experience the real work it takes to care for a pet. I have to admit, though, that these puppies are really cute!
Also you never know if your company is going to decide to "downsize" in the next quarter to give a boost to profits, so right after the holidays can be a volatile time for job security depending on the industry. And especially with the price gouging happening everywhere you might suddenly be unable to afford the puppy even if you were ready for it.
My parents did this last year and I was so frustrated with them. I even offered to take her instead (I live in the other side of the country, by myself, and already have a large dog…in an apartment lol) but I know she almost immediately was adopted by another family that can handle her - so at least theres that lol
Those tiny angels feeling so safe they snuggled into those ladies and had the happiest naps!! I pray 🙏🏻🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🙏🏻 LITERALLY I pray each of these tiny souls will be adopted by people who will KEEP THEM for life and love them + cherish them til their last breath of old age. I wish these puppies were in Utah.. they are exactly what my has wanted.. we have looked for months and these little guys and girls are exactly what we have been looking for..❤❤
My sister got a purebred chocolate lab to keep her malnios company while she was a work. Shocker, a lab puppy doesn't like to hold it for 12 hrs (she in the air force) so I started to watch him during the weeks and one weekend she came back I was just "thank you for the expensive dog :D I'm keeping him" I love him! But it's so hard seeing him with all his fatty tumors and hip problems from being the last of the last litter of dogs. Puppies always make my day!
Right, I knew that a bunch of people who had gotten pets during covid would decide that they either couldn't, or wouldn't keep them, in the long run. Infuriating, because it's incredibly short-sighted and detrimental to the pets and the shelters. Sorry, I had to vent, but wow, those Pups are too cute! ❤
